Purpose: The main objective of this study is to research whether an announcement of an acquisition generates positive/negative abnormal short-term return towards the buying company?s shareholders. The secondary purpose is to research whether any differences could be due to selected factors: firm size and industry.Method: The study is quantitative in nature where the research aims at the stock price movement around the announcement of an acquisition. The sample size includes 30 companies between the years 2000-2010. The abnormal return is investigated by an Event Study.Conclusion: Our study shows that the publication gives a positive abnormal return in comparison to the respective sector indexes.

A study of communication content, frequency and problems was performed at the Swedish Air Force Air Combat Simulation Centre, FLSC. The purpose was to investigate the connection between team communication and performance variables, to study communication problems during air combat and to employ and develop the PILOT method of communication problem analysis. Ten fighter pilots and four fighter controllers engaged in simulated air combat beyond visual range in teams on two sides, Blue and Red, with four pilots and one fighter controller each. Eight such training runs lasting 15 to 25 minutes were analyzed with regard to the Blue team?s communication during launch situations, i.e.

Syftet med denna pilotstudie var att undersöka hurkvinnliga samkönade förstagångsföräldrar upplever sin parrelation samt attundersöka mätinstrumentets QDR36s reliabilitet på kvinnliga samkönade par.Genom en kvantitativ mätning med QDR36 på sex kvinnliga samkönadeförstagångsföräldrar framkom ett högt QDR-index. På grund av litet urval kan ingagenerella slutsatser dras ifrån denna pilotstudie, men det öppnar upp för intressantastudier i framtiden.

Syftet med studien är att undersöka hur lärare och elever på musik- eller kulturskola kommunicerar med varandra i enskild undervisning med fiol som instrument. Med hjälp av videoobservation som metod har tre lärare och deras elever observerats. Studiens teoretiska utgångspunkter utgörs av ett designteoretiskt och multimodalt perspektiv. I resultatet framkommer att lärarna använder sig av ett flertal olika kommunikationssätt i sin undervisning. Calculations of net present value are based on a discount rate, which requires knowledge about the company?s cost of debt. A common way to do this is by observing the company?s credit rating, when no credit rating is given it?s possible to use a synthetic rating model based on quantitative data to estimate a credit rating. Thus, the aim of this study is to increase the understanding of which quantitative data, in terms of key figures, that can be used to explain the given credit ratings for companies from the Nordic countries.In developing the model, key figures found significant in previous studies are being tested for whether or not they are applicable for companies from the Nordic countries.

Previous research has found an increased transmission of stock movements in Europe, partly caused by the establishment of institutions as the EU and the EMU. The purpose of this paper is to find the possible impact from the EU and the EMU concerning the evolution of international transmission of stock market movements, on four Scandinavian markets, Denmark, Finland, Norway and Sweden. The research is based on primary data, existing theories and earlier studies regarding international transmission of stock market movements. The examined method is a VAR (Vector autoregressive model) including a 10x1 vector of variables. Furthermore the tests considered are correlation, granger-causality, variance decomposition and impulse response.

The river Bivaröd is one of the river Helgeån tributaries which has the highest and the fastest increase in water colour. The reason behind this increase is unclear but several factors have been suggested to affect this pattern. In this work, I studied the role of land use, iron and precipitation for water colour increase in river Bivaröd for the period 1976 -2011. Data from a field study along with data from SRK for river Helgeån were used for the analyses. The results showed that both water colour and iron concentration increase and that there is a strong correlation between these two variables.

Syftet med denna uppsats är att ge en inblick i förhållandet mellan ljudkvalitet och den musikaliska upplevelsens kvalitet, dvs om ljudets kvalitet kan påverka en konsertbesökares helhetsupplevelse. I studien görs en enkätundersökning, där enkätdeltagaren får svara på ett antal frågor, exempelvis hur viktig ljudkvaliteten egentligen är, vilken aspekt av ljudet som bör vara tillfredsställande och vilka instrument som bör höras tydligt etc. Enkäten innehöll även två kvalitativa frågor där deltagaren får utveckla sina tankar i skriftlig form. 32 människor deltog i enkätundersökningen som ägde rum i Falun.Resultaten som forskningen gett pekar på att ljudkvaliteten är viktig för den musikaliska helhetsupplevelsen tillsammans med andra aspekter såsom bandets musikaliska prestation, scennärvaro samt scenljus etc. Majoriteten av enkätdeltagarna anser att sången är den viktigaste aspekten i musiken att höra klart och tydligt samt att det finns flera ljudaspekter (t.ex.

The aim of this review is to assess the ethical implications of aquaculture, regarding fish welfare and environmental aspects. The aquaculture industry has grown substantially the last decades, both as a result of the over-fishing of wild fish populations, and because of the increasing consumer demand for fish meat. As the industry is growing, a significant amount of research on the subject is being conducted, monitoring the effects of aquaculture on the environment and on animal welfare. The areas of concern when it comes to animal welfare have here been divided into four different stages: breeding period; growth period; capturing and handling; and slaughter. Besides these stages, this report includes a chapter on the current evidence of fish sentience, since this issue is still being debated among biologists.

This thesis deals with the supranational organization of European trade unions. The European trade union movement is, via its umbrella organization the ETUC, an institutionalized social partner within the European Union. The ETUC is a very diverse organization with great potential of conflicting interest among its members. This thesis therefore seeks to explore the dynamics and interest heterogeneity of the ETUC. Background: Children frequently exhibit high levels of distress while undergoing routine blood sampling or injections. If the child is not treated with appropriate care, the feelings of distress may increase over time and result in needle-phobia. Objective: The purpose of this study was to describe nurses´ possibilities to relieve distress in children undergoing needle sticks. Method: A systematic literature review was conducted through database search and screening of reference lists. Ten research articles with a quantitative approach were included, coded for quality and then analyzed.
