ur society is today in a phase of development in environmental and sustainable thinking. Alarming reports show changes in climate caused by our load and exhaust of resources. The energy usage contributes to a big part of it, by its emission of carbon dioxide. The built environment uses around 40 % of the total energy consumption in Sweden and requests to strongly reduce it are presented from both EU and national level.This thesis brings up the subject of green building with a focus on how we can create more energy efficient buildings in projects of new construction. Since the construction industry today often fails to pass on the knowledge between different projects, as a return of experiences, the construction company Skanska suggested the topic for this thesis.

Most swedish newspapers have a homepage where their news are presented. Existing guidelines describing how to write for the web often recommends you to keep it short and stay objective. But how about longer pieces of content presented in the print version? What will become of reports, interviews and essays as we?ve come to know them as the printed newspaper goes digital?Interviews with representatives of five swedish newspapers shows that the extent to wich content is being published on the web is connected to the overall purpose of the web presence. The fact that many newspapers does not publish longer pieces of text on the web rather seems to be an economic issue, than a matter of good readability.Past studies shows that longer pieces of text may well work on the web, if the reader?s interest is big enough.

In order to increase the independence in everyday life of the elderly population, we have developed a lifting aid for loading in the private car trunk. Independence from outside assistance affects self-esteem in a positive direction and can help increase the quality of life for a large group of individuals. As people age and experience changes in performance, it is important that aids and support is available, particularly to reduce the experience of aging and it?s increasing physical limitations. The aim was to develop a function prototype characterized by simplicity, which facilitates loading of the private cartrunk.The project was conducted at the request of Autoadapt AB, which is one of the leadingactors in car adaptations for individuals with disablilities.

The predominant forestry harvesting method is based on the harvester-forwarder method, theharvester folds, branches and cuts trees, and sorts the logs into piles, while a forwarder transportsthe logs to a landing area.This master thesis work is about realization of a dynamic forwarder simulation model, and itspurpose is to provide an integrated forwarder simulation model in MATLAB/SimMechanicswhere the forwarder is based on a concept using pendulum arms to connect wheels and chassis.Active suspension control is developed and implemented into the simulation model, and finallycompared in simulation with passive suspension.In a first step, an integrated forwarder simulation model is developed, containing a simplifiedforwarder model, a tire-to-ground interaction model and a test track model. The simplifiedforwarder model is based a rigid multi-body system with a spring-damper suspension of thependulum arms. The tire-to-ground interaction model calculates the reaction forces, friction fromthe ground and applies the propulsion force. The test track model is a simplified version of thereal test track in Skogforsk. The propulsion wheel torque control is used to regulate theforwarder speed.

A patient simulator for testing anaesthesia machines has been developed at Maquet Critical Care AB, to reduce costly and time-consuming experiments on animals. The device simulates human lungs regarding lung dynamics and volume, uptake of anaesthetic agents and the production of carbon dioxide, heat and moisture. Further demands on the simulator are durability and size; the device shall be compact enough to be moveable.The resulting simulator fulfils the requirements and enables better repeatability and ability to test extreme cases than experiments on animals do.Uptake of the anaesthetic agent is achieved in a active carbon filter and controlled by regulating the flow. The flow is created by a regenerative blower and controlled using a proportional valve. The uptake can be set by the user or by a simple uptake model modified to recursively handle changes in the concentration of anaesthetic agent.Carbon dioxide is fed into the system from a tank by a mass flow regulator.

The subject of this project focuses on how Landscape Architects by their profession can explore and directly make a difference in the cityscape. This paper documents the process of art - based research practice. The purpose of installing temporary activities is to encourage people in the city to discover, participate and invite people to be more playful in the city. My experience of interaction in public spaces comes primarily from the education within landscape architecture, from site-specific art installations I have performed in different cities and from observations of landscape architecture, street art and urban life in the cities of Vienna, Berlin and Linköping. It is fascinating and inspiring to see how the urban space can invite and allow visitors to participate and therefore feel invited to the open space. As a landscape architect I wish to create urban spaces that are useful and inspiring for their visitors. The projects main question: How can you make temporary landscapes that encourage outdoorinspired activities at selected locations in the city? is answered by practice based research, an approach in which theoretical research are developed through practical experiments in the designing- and implementation process.

I denna rapport framgår vilken energibesparing som är möjlig i vissa processer hos Ankarsrum Industries. Hypotesen var att sänka företagets energikostnader med 30 %.Företagets analyserade stödprocesser omfattar tryckluft, belysning och ventilation och lokalkomfort. Tryckluftsproduktionen kostar idag 259 000 kronor om året. Företaget har ett tryckluftsläckage som uppgår till 113 000 kronor. Om läckage tätas och en ny kompressor investeras kan företaget spara 160 000 kronor per år.Belysningen i företagets lokaler består av flera olika typer av armaturer med varierande kvalitet.

Det här arbetet syftar till att genom design av en telefonapplikation undersöka hur ljud kan förstärkas av den omgivande miljön. Arbetet visar på hur miljöförstärkt ljud skiljer sig från ljudförstärkt miljö samt vilka begränsningar det innebär att använda en vanlig smartphone som plattform. Ett långsiktigt mål är att genom en produkt som låter oetablerade ljudproducenter distribuera sina alster i den offentliga miljön främja fri kultur och kreativitet.Arbetet har följt principen för RtD (research through design), där designprocessen utgör det fall som studeras och dokumentationen av den utgör den bas av data som analyseras och leder till slutsatser kring ämnet.Designprocessen i detta arbete innebär en mindre omfattande användarstudie i enkätform för att identifiera målgrupp, krav och mål. Följd av en andra studie där en prototyp framtagen med grund i resultaten från användarstudien utvärderas av deltagare genom observation, intervju och reaktionskort. De största utmaningarna för designen grundar sig i att ta fram en applikation som inte stör upplevelsen, men samtidigt kan instruera användaren i hur man använder applikationen. Utifrån arbetet dras slutsatsen att användarinstruktioner, såväl visuella som auditiva, löper större risk att störa upplevelsen i miljöförstärkt ljud än i ljudförstärkt miljö. Vidare konstateras att den största bristen i en lösning som bygger på standardutrustning i jämförelse med en lösning som nyttjar dedikerad utrustning utgörs av begränsningar när det kommer till att ange riktning med hjälp av ljudets rumslighet..

Z39.50 is a standard protocol designed to create an interface between diverse computer databases for diverse information needs. Since it has to be adjustable it is also complex and demands a certain degree of expertise when being set. However, the aim of this paper is not to make a theoretical description but to examine certain conditions in practice. From the perspective of Swedish research libraries two principal hypotheses are examined: 1) the implementation of a given technology (Z39.50) is primarily influenced by social circumstances, and 2) the way in which the technology is implemented will bias the results of information retrieval. For this examination we need a framework of theories concerning the relationship between technological development and society, organisational theories and database theories.

I detta Examensarbete har en ny lyftutrustning till gasturbin SGT-600/700 olika moduler tagits fram. Examensarbetet har utförts på Siemens Industrial Turbomachinery AB i Finspång på avdelningen GPTP (leverans gasturbin teknik package installation).Målet med arbetet har varit att skapa en lyftutrustning som är mer flexibel än den befintliga lyftutrustningen och klarar samlyft (lyft med hjälp av två kranar).Arbetet har utförts med hjälp av olika metoder som QFD, funktionsmedel-träd och morphologisk matris, där kundorienterad konceptkonstruktion är basen för arbetet. En studie av teori inom området har genomförts. Den befintliga lyftutrustningen undersöks för att skapa förståelse, sedan undersöks problemet för att skapa en lösningsrymd. Flera konceptuella lösningar genereras, till sist väljs det bästa konceptet och ritningar för den nya lyftutrustningen tas fram.Den befintliga lyftutrustningen kräver anpassning med extra komponenter för lyft av de olika modulerna.

Sammanfattning Företaget Zetterströms Rostfria AB i Molkom producerar värmeväxlare till olika ändamål. I produktionen använder Zetterströms en sömsvets som kräver kylvatten. Mängden kylvatten som går åt under ett år är cirka 2016m3. Svetsen går på olika effekter beroende på vad för typ av plåt som svetsas, om den är tjock eller tunn. Vid svetsning av en tjock plåt körs svetsen på högre effekt än om det svetsas en tunnare plåt.

Denna rapport är en studie av en påbyggnad om två våningar i Stockholms innerstad. Påbyggnaden är en tredimensionell fastighet, Obelisken 27, som har bildas genom avstyckning från stamfastigheten Obelisken 26.Enligt vision för Stockholm ska nya täta, miljövänliga och varierande stadsmiljöer växa fram med en blandning av bostäder och verksamheter. Detta ska möjliggöras bland annat genom förenkling av planprocessen och bättre samordning mellan nationella regelverk.Genom att koncentrera förtätning till redan bebyggd mark ökar förutsättningen för hushållning med mark och grönområden. Förtätningen kan bryta funktionalismen stadsplaneringsprincip och skapa blandning av bostäder och verksamheter.Från och med 1 januari 2004 kan fastigheter även begränsas vertikalt och bilda slutna volymer. En ny fastighet kan bildas som en tredimensionell volym på befintlig bebyggelse.
