Känsla kontra information i fotokommunikation

Photography has a big role in information sharing today. Especially in the hotel industry where it is the closest thing a customer can get to the product that is being sold. This study intends to find out how you can make use of rhetorical models and techniques of photography to enhance the communication skills of photos of hotel rooms. The main focus was to understand the difference between informative and emotional photographs and what consumers themselves focus on when choosing a hotel, and also how to use the collected information to create a larger buying interest through hotel photography. Using previous research work and quantitative data collection method, we have concluded that the informational and emotional photography methods have obvious differences but also many similarities, and are most effective used together and that the hotel consumer is more aware of the images influence then we assumed..

Funny Faces - En studie i hur ett fysiskt sällskapsspel kan gestaltas genom illustration med syfte att bjuda in till rörelse och reflektion

I det här examensarbetet har jag undersökt hur man genom illustration och visuella element som komposition, färg och stil kan gestalta ett fysiskt sällskapsspel som bjuder in barn i 3-5 års ålder till rörelse och reflektion. Teorier och forskning i ämnet har tillsammans med lokala intervjuer och verklighetsförankrade exempel stått som grund för examensarbetets resultat och slutprodukt, sällskapsspelet Funny Faces. Resultatet visar att Funny Faces genom ett twisterliknande koncept bjuder in barnen till rörelse, och genom sin specifika gestaltning och stora variation bjuder in barnen till reflektion. Resultatet visar också att komposition och utgångsspelet Twister var viktiga för sällskapsspelets rörelseaspekt, medan stil och lokala intervjuer var viktiga för sällskapsspelets reflektionsaspekt..

This thesis is about cover illustrations of DVD movies as examples of visual communication. I have studied the cover illustrations of the three movies Gran Torino, Secret Window and As White As Snow. My research assignment has been to find out how the cover illustrations of DVD movies communicate in relation to the story. I have also been looking for what makes a cover illustration interesting and if the interest in itself is individually considered or if there are certain general rules regardless of the observer.To reach a conclusion I have been studying components in advertising pictures, visual communication and how the commercial producers use advertising to communicate with the observer. Semiotics, advertising and comparisons between the cover illustrations have been my method for analyze.I have come to the conclusion that cover illustrations are meticulously produced, and that every single part of them is important for the observers? over all impression and interpretation of the cover illustration.

The aim of this master?s thesis is to explore concert institutions? informative texts prior to upcoming concerts ? texts in promotional materials and descriptive texts in programme papers. The thesis is carried out from a critical discourse analytical perspective. The discourse analysis is focusing on finding the texts? messages and it asks the question: To whom are these texts addressed? Theoretical support is mainly taken from Foucault?s theory about the relation between power and knowledge.

In this thesis I investigate aesthetic preference for picture books among children aged 3?6 as well as criteria for preference among parents. Through my design project: illustration of a picture book, I aim to put my research on preference in the context of illustration and design. By using the design project as an applied method for research I have sought to answer how one as an illustrator can apply knowledge regarding preferences of the target groups when illustrating for picture books. I have primarily based my research within the field of cognitive developmental psychology, with primary focus on stage theory, and the field of literature.

In my project I worked with fluorescent color and fear as a theme together. It was based on my question for what happens when you take all the lights out and highlight a fear or phobia. I wanted to experiment and explore the course of event within the surface of a picture by using this kind of paint.I worked with illustration and pattern to bind the two pictures together. The aim was to investigate what is possible with the picture as a medium and work with contrast to make it as effective as possible. My goal was to make one poster of each fear and to make them work together as a series as it?s best.I asked myself many questions such as;? What happens to the surface, image and room when you use this color?? Will a new quality appear?? What happens when you mix two pictures together on a parallel level that only show in different kind of light?.

The main focus for this essay is to describe the relationship between human and nature through a material investigation that takes its shape through sculpture. With the help of a fairytale-like story the reader can share the creation of the sculpture and how my thoughts flow through the process that will result in an exam project. Rooted in earlier projects I discuss the crash between civilization and the wilderness as well as talking about the likeness of the creative process and child play. I also discuss the body's place in the forest and the loneliness that we humans created that has cut us off from the rest of the creatures and plants in the forest. My aim is that in the final piece I will create a fiction place where these can be joined together again.

Mitt val av examensprojekt är baserat på minutbildning inom produktdesign och mina intressen förmönster och illustration.Tankarna kring tänkbart projekt fann fotfäste närjag upptäckte Hotel Fox i Köpenhamn. Ett hotell varsinredning tar sig oändliga dekorativa uttryck bortom deflesta konventioner. Utifrån dessa grunder hittade jagmotivation och inspiration till att applicera mina tvådimensionellaintressen i ett för mig nytt sammanhangmed produktdesign.Projektet har varit av undersökande och experimentellkaraktär, där jag bearbetat dekoration i förhållandetill rumsliga ytor, med tapeter och schabloner somproduktreferenser. Min ambition har varit att få framett personligt präglat produktkoncept som innehartapetens monteringstekniska egenskaper och schablonmålningenssolitära uttryck. Jag har även strävat efteratt formge produkterna så att de har så få monteringsmomentsom möjligt och ej heller lämnar permanentavtryck på befintlig interiör.

Kan 3D-visualisering hjälpa till vid artbestämning?

ABSTRACTSyftet med mitt examensarbete är att forska i om bilder genererade ur 3D-modeller är en effektiv illustreringsmetod vid artbestämning. Arbetet består av två delar, en praktisk och en teoretisk. Den praktiska delen av arbetet ska resultera i renderade bilder av en mångfoting sedd utifrån olika vinklar och avstånd. Detaljrikedom och manér ska vara fotorealistiska. Den teoretiska delen ska ta upp fördelar och nackdelar med 3D som bildteknik vid artbestämning. Jag ska även redogöra för de vanligaste bildteknikerna, som används vid naturvetenskaplig illustration samt kortfattat berätta om nya tekniker.En av de största fördelarna med att använda sig av 3D-visualisering vid artbestämning är om man arbetar med snarlika arter.

Arbetet har bestått i att utföra en informativ webguide över en anläggning i Västerås som tillverkar biogas och biogödsel av matrester. Beställaren heter VafabMiljö. Mina kontaktpersoner, Caroline Eklöv och Åsa Lindén, är skolinformatörer. Guiden ska publiceras på VafabMiljös hemsida för skolklasser på Internet och där fungera som en förlängning av informatörernas arbete i skolorna. Målgruppen är barn i årskurs 3-5.
