I denna uppsats försöker jag beskriva vad begreppet improvisation innebär inom jazzmusik. Ämnet improvisation är för mig väldigt viktigt, det är ett ämne som jag valt att specialisera mig på i min musikhögskoleutbildning. Min förmåga att improvisera har hjälpt mig i många situationer i livet, framförallt sådana situationer där det gäller att kunna vara flexibel, till exempel spel- eller musikundervisningssituationer. Undersökningen baseras i huvudsak på intervjuer med fem olika svenska jazzmusiker. Jag har kommit fram till att begreppet improvisation är komplext och svårdefinierat.

I det här arbetet har jag skapat harmoniseringsverktyg till improvisation och nyskapande ackordföljder. Det handlar om att att göra något kreativt för att se om det finns något outforskat område inom musikteorin. Jag applicerade de nya ackordföljderna på traditionella jazzlåtar och reharmoniserar om dem även för improvisation. I mitt klingande resultat spelade jag in bakgrunder och melodier samt solon på gitarr där jag applicerade harmoniseringsverktygen. Sedan analyserade jag de aspekter och konsekvenser jag upplevde i processen och diskuterade framför allt min musikaliska utveckling.

Previous research has suggested that there is a strong and positive relationship between being an entrepreneur and possessing a high degree of subjective well-being as well as job satisfaction. The big five personality traits have also been argued to be significantly related to both subjective well-being and job satisfaction. Little is however known if personality affects entrepreneurs and regular employees differently. In this paper the impact of personality traits on the cognitive part of subjective well-being as well as job satisfaction are investigated separately among entrepreneurs and regular employees. This is done through OLS-regressions using a Swedish nationally representative survey Employment, Material Resources, and Political Preferences (EMRAPP), where entrepreneurs were oversampled in order to be able to compare entrepreneurs (N = 2483) and regular employees (N = 2642).

The purpose with this thesis is to investigate how Swedish clothing companies create and communicate a personality for their brand. Case studies were conducted with three companies: Nudie Jeans, Koppartrans and J.Lindeberg. These firms can be considered as established clothing brands nationally as well as internationally. The study found that individualism, logotype and moral standpoints play an important role in the creation and the communication of a brand?s personality.

This thesis has been performed for the company System Andersson as a part of the bachelors degree in information technology at the School of Engineering in Jönköping. The thesis is based on the development of an iPhone application.System Andersson has an application for Android that is being used for their MPS system (material and production control system). Their customers, however, have also showed interest in being able to use this application for iPhone.The students handle the subject of iOS developing, including the design of the application, the use of the development language Objective-C, the use of the scripting language of Json used for server connections and SQL.The primary goal with this thesis has been to improve the students knowledge in such subjects as application development for mobile platforms, in such areas as Xcode, which is the development platform that Apple uses and Objective-C, which is the development language being used. The result of this thesis is an almost fully functional iOS application, similar to the Android application with some functionality missing..

Fifty employees at a local industrial company answered a questionnaire about coping strategies and personality traits. One purpose of the study was to investigate if officials and public employees used different coping strategies in stressful work situations. Another purpose of the study was to investigate if there was a relationship between the personality traits of the officials and the public employees and their chosen coping strategies. Ten Item Personality Inventory and Brief COPE were used to examine personality traits and coping strategies respectively. The results showed a difference in exhibited personality traits where conscientiousness was higher among the official employees than the public employees.

Musical improvisation is an infinite artistic well. It helps the musician to make a personal performance and lets the music reflect the inner feelings. It is a language with which the performer can adapt the formulation to the specific situation. Yet so many have fear and respect when facing the phenomenon. In this study Dan Alkenäs discusses the advantages and disadvantages of using musical improvisation as a pedagogical method in school education.

This project investigates how team sports can be used to include young women in public space aswell as how through the addition of a sporting facility adjacent to three schools can be used as a stepping stone for the young people of Dharavi to have a chance at a brighter future..

Syftet med det här arbetet har varit att nå ökad kunskap i hur lärare på gymnasieskolans estetiska program förhåller sig till och undervisar i improvisation. Arbetet avgränsades till att gälla instrumentet gitarr med huvudfokus på västerländsk konstmusik. Fyra lärare intervjuades och deras svar tolkades utifrån en bakgrund av ett sociokulturellt perspektiv på lärande, mästarlära samt gymnasieskolans styrdokument. En enkät skickades även ut till de deltagande lärarnas elever.Intervjuerna visar på att följande punkter har präglat de deltagande lärarnas undervisning:? Improvisation kan ha många olika syften och detta påverkar i vilken utsträckning och hur läraren använder sig av improvisation i sin undervisning.? Förhållandet till improvisation och vad som definieras som improvisation påverkar lärarnas arbete med improvisation.? Lärarens förhållande till notbilden påverkar improvisation inom undervisningen.Lärarna har också visat att improvisation kan användas på många olika sätt som verktyg för lärande och kan vara en källa till kreativitet och glädje.

Improvisation är ett ämne som många både studerar och utövar men det är ofta svårt att hitta mer generella strategier för att improvisera som visar hur själva improvisationsprocessen går till. Syftet med studien är att hitta de strategier jag använder mig av när jag improviserar. Genom att analysera ett solo jag spelar och leta efter; de förutsättningar som påverkar improvisationen, strategier jag använder och förhållningssätt jag har till improvisation klargör den här studien en del av vad det innebär att improvisera fram musik. Den metod jag använt är videoinspelning där jag spelat in ett uppspel som jag anser är den naturliga miljö för mig att improvisera i. Det teoretiska perspektiv jag använt är fenomenologi.

Mikael Tuominen: Fri improvisation - hur tänker musikern?  Uppsala Universitet, musikvetenskap vt -98.Syftet med uppsatsen är att undersöka musikestetiken bakom fri improvisation sedd ur musikerns synvinkel. Undersökningen är framför allt baserad på litteratur skriven av verksamma musiker inom genren och på artiklar som delvis bygger på intervjuer med musiker. I arbetet med texterna används hermeneutisk och komparativ metod.I uppsatsen visas att genrebegränsningen för fri improvisation ligger i metoden. Denna går ut på att musiken skapas i nuet.

This essay in musicology is combined with a CD-recording of piano improvisations. Its purpose is, on the one hand, to examine some of the ideas permeating piano improvisation during the first part of the nineteenth century, and, on the other, to find ways to apply these nineteenth century ideas of improvising to modern piano playing. The artistic part of the work is as important as the theoretical, and the two strands are supporting and reinforcing each other.The first section of the text focuses on preluding ? that is, a genre of improvisation. The second section investigates some aspects of the improvising of Franz Liszt ? that is, different types of improvisation as practised by an important nineteenth century musician.

A personality test is a useful tool in recruitment contexts. Studies have shown that participants distort their answers in a socially desirable manner. The purpose of this study was to investigate if people respond more or less socially desirable depending on how they rate themselves in a personality test, based on the "big five" personality dimensions.Eighty people, (40 women and 40 men), 19-42 years, (M= 24,1 SD= 3,76) rated themselves on a personality test. Group one, (20 women and 20 men) completed the test on paper. Group two, (20 women and 20 men) completed the test verbally.
