Phytoremediation is a technique using the ability of plants to absorb pollutants in their biomass from contaminated soils and remediate it. The plants are then harvested and the soil gets purified. This method is more environmental-friendly than the normally used methods for soil remediation. Glasriket in Småland is an area with large amount of pollutants including arsenic, cadmium and lead. This area must be cleaned from these metals because of the high threat to the environment ant the health of people who live here.

The purpose of this thesis is to analyze the construction of consensus in commune-collaborations. By a review of written material combined with elite interviews we have been able to follow the decision-making and the forming of consensus, in a commune-collaboration called NOSAM, in which they have decided to use consensus as a decision method. The thesis is based on a case study and we have decided to follow a specific issue that has been discussed for some time.We have created an instrument based on the ideal of deliberative democracy, through which we have been able to examine whether the decision-making in NOSAM can be described as a deliberative process or if consensus is formed by other incentives.The study shows that the decision-making in NOSAM cannot be described as a deliberative process, although there are some elements of deliberation. Consensus is formed in a proposition drawn up by the officials for the commune-representatives to agree on. Afterwards, the decision has to be brought up in each commune before reaching a final decision in NOSAM.Our opinion is that having consensus as the decision method leads to difficulties when deciding on bigger issues..

With this master thesis we wanted to find out in which way the concept of public service is connected to different perspectives, ideals, visions of the future and forms of organizations. The purpose with our thesis was to do an analysis of different concepts regarding to public service. To the analysis of concepts we used Swedish newspapers and analysed the issue of public service that had been discussed in articles written during the last five years. From this material and other papers about public service we developed a model of public service ideals. We wanted to find out what the different perspectives thought about the Swedish television and their commission.

På psykologlinjen vid Stockholms universitet väljer studenterna att utbilda sig i kognitiv beteendeterapi, KBT eller i psykodynamisk terapi, PDT. Vissa menar att en tidig specialisering främjar effektiviteten och kompetensen i kliniska sammanhang. Andra menar att ett bredare och integrativt perspektiv är bättre då alternativa synsätt berikar det terapeutiska arbetet. Kvalitativa intervjuer med 18 psykologstudenter genomfördes i syfte att identifiera faktorer som studenterna upplevde påverkat valet av inriktning. Materialet analyserades med Grundad Teori.

I denna uppsats undersöks hur användarna på det virtuella nätverket facebook väljer att framställa sig själva samt vad som ger social status därpå, och detta ur ett genusperspektiv. Facebook är ett socialt virtuellt nätverk som baserar dig på relationer förankrade utanför internet, och har på en mycket kort tid nått en stor spridning. Facebook är därför en social arena som möjliggör nya möjligheter men även begräsningar i presentationen av jaget. Uppsatsens resultat baseras på en innehållsanalys av statusuppdateringar och bilder från facebook, som analyserats utifrån relevant sociologisk teoribildning. De resultat som framkommit ur analysen tyder på att den framställning som görs av användarna på facebook är en idealiserad och ytlig sådan, där båda könen strävar efter att framstå som populära, framgångsrika och lyckade.

Since 1993 the Swedish Forestry Administration conducts a nation-wide inventory of wood-land key habitats covering all forest land in Sweden. The inventory aims at mapping and describing habitats where redlisted species occur or can be expected to occur. According to the inventory stand history is crucial to the presence of red-listed species. However, the current knowledge of stand history in woodland key habitats is very limited. The purpose of this work is to describe stand history in woodland key habitats, i.e. fire history, human activities - mainly cuttings - and structural changes.

This thesis was developed as an assignment from Ludosity Interactive where the goal was to develop a copy of the Xbox Live Indie Games-marketplace from the Xbox 360. Ludosity Interactive had a necessity to easily test a game's attractiveness to potential customers using testing people from outside the company in a simulated Xbox Live Indie Games test environment; excluding this developed system there is no other way to do such an analysis without actually releasing the game on the Xbox Live Indie Games marketplace and then analyze the resulting sales from the product.The finished system had to be similar to the original system to the degree that a user could see past the interface itself and use the system just as he/she would have used the real marketplace. It also had to be easy to change and add games to the system so that Ludosity Interactive easily could show the games and the data that they deemed interesting for their tests. Den här uppsatsen är en kvalitativ intervjustudie om hur lärare och skolbibliotekarier från fyra gymnasieskolor tolkar begreppet  ?samarbete? samt hur de erfar samarbete med den andra yrkesgruppen. Sex gymnasielärare och fem skolbibliotekarier berättar om sitt arbete, sin syn på samarbete och om sina erfarenheter av att samarbeta med den andra yrkesgruppen. Studiens resultat visar bland annat på att det finns stora skillnader i deras respektive yrkeskulturer vilket lätt leder till kulturkrockar. Exempelvis har lärarna och bibliotekarierna en gemensam idealbild av samarbete.

Being able to study at the Municipal Adult Education, Komvux, is a privilege available to adults in Sweden of age 20 and above. Although almost 200 000 people attended Komvux 2011 in Sweden, a fifth of the participants discontinued their studies before completing their course(s). This becomes costly for the society, but it is also diminishes the future chances of a career and college studies. In our thesis we have done a quantitative investigation trying to determine what the reasons for dropping out could be. A request to participate in our survey were sent out to all 64 people who dropped out one or more courses during the fall semester 2012 at a Municipal Adult Education in southern Norrland.

Ett av syftena med studien var att undersöka skillnader i Ingenjörsstuderande respektive Anställdas uppfattning om Lantmäteriets image som arbetsgivare. Det andra syftet med studien var att se om det förelåg skillnader i uppfattning av en Ideal arbetsgivares image och Lantmäteriets image som arbetsgivare. Studien genomfördes med stöd av en enkätundersökning med Ingenjörsstuderande och Anställda vid Lantmäteriakademin som deltagare. Totalt deltog 102 personer i studien; 55 Ingenjörsstuderande och 47 Anställda. Mätinstrumentet var Employer Attractiveness Scale (EmpAt).

Denna kandidatuppsats behandlar sambandet mellan hållbar utveckling, spårväg och städers varumärke. Med utgångspunkt i europeisk planering har en fallstudie av städerna Montpellier och Malmö gjorts för att undersöka dagens ideal och de drivkrafter som ligger bakom byggandet av spårväg. I uppsatsen ges en kort översikts om trafikplaneringens historia för att få en förståelse varför läget ser ut som det gör idag. En genomgång och förklaring av begreppet hållbarhet görs också samt en undersökning kring marknadsföring av städer och begreppet ?place branding?. En analys av styrande dokument och information från kommunerna har gjorts för att ta reda hur de motiverar valet av spårvagnstrafik med fokus på hållbarhetsaspekterna. Slutligen har resultatet av analysen jämförts för att se vilka slutsatser som gick att dra utifrån det insamlade materialet. Några av slutsatserna är att spårvagnsbyggande kan användas som en del i arbetet för att marknadsföra en mer hållbar stad samt att det finns politiska drivkrafter bakom valet av spårvagn som kollektivtrafikmedel..

I litteraturen presenteras ett antal verktyg som kan användas för att undvika sådana problem, exempelvis utvecklingssamtal. Med utgångspunkt i problemdiskussionen ovan är syftet således att beskriva utvecklingssamtalets roll.

Jumper´s knee is a common overuse injury due to repetitive microtrauma to the patellar tendon. It is especially common among athletes who are involved in sporting activities that involve jumping or fast running. The term jumper´s knee was adopted after Blazina published his original paper in 1973. Its pathology can be considered as a partial or total rupture of the patellar tendon in one of its three insertions. The aim of this literature study was to review the methods used to treat this condition and the results obtained focusing on pain relief and returning to previous sport or level of activity.

In the light of new technology health care is now given the opportunity to form a more mobile way of working that would bring about potential gains in terms of efficiency and quality. On the other hand, a more mobile health care also requires a more generous handling of personal information, something that may raise issues in terms of privacy. This study shows that the privacy of the patient requires two things: (i) that the personal information of the patient is handled in a way that generates her an overall positive expected utility and that (ii) the negative expected utility that each risk of an information leakage causes is offset by the expected utility it also makes possible. The first requirement (i) is shown, in comparison with today?s way of working, to be met due to the potential gains in efficiency and quality in combination with no increase in the probability of informational leakage or negative effects of such a leakage. The second requirement (ii) was also considered met since no separate risks of information leakage could be identified that was not offset by the gains it made possible in terms of expected utility..

Under en tidigare analys av dialogen kring och detaljplanen för ett stadsförnyelseprojekt i Göteborg, vilken jag gjorde i samband med mitt kandidatarbete, blev det tydligt för mig att nyckelorden som används har olika betydelse för olika aktörer. Efter att nyckelorden, eller trendbegreppen som jag har valt att kalla dem, beskrivits i översiktsplaner och stadsbyggnadsdebatt finns det fortfarande ett stort tolkningsutrymme, vilket gör att trendbegreppens motsvarigheter i de fysiska planerna kan se mycket olika ut. Vilka begrepp som används har betydelse för stadsutvecklingen och avslöjar vilka ideal som är framträdande. Syftet med rapporten har varit att undersöka vilka nyckelord/ trendbegrepp som används inom svensk stadsbyggnadsdebatt och projekt idag, samt att utreda begreppens samband med svensk nutida planering. För att uppnå syftet har följande tillvägagångssätt använts: ? Beskrivning av de två tydligaste motpolerna, som jag tyckt mig urskilja i det insamlade materialet; ?den traditionella, europeiska staden? och modernismens/miljonprogrammets planer.
