Procedural Content Generation innebär att spelinnehåll genereras automatiskt för att dels minska arbetsbelastningen hos designers men också för att öka variationen i spel. Ett användningsområde för detta är rumsbaserad bangenerering där banor byggs upp av fördefinierade rum. Målet med det här arbetet var att implementera och jämföra tre olika algoritmer som kan åstadkomma detta; Binary Space Partitioning, Shortest path och en evolutionär algoritm. De kriterier som algoritmerna utvärderades på var tidseffektivitet, variation och möjligheten att nå alla rum. Resultatet visade att Binary Space Partitioning och Shortest path var de två algoritmer som var bäst lämpade att användas i ett spel där genereringen ska ske under körtiden.

Portable IT devices such as laptops, smart phones and computer tablets are becoming ever more ubiquitous. At the same time, the population of the Western world is growing older, with aging bringing about changes with regards to individuals' physical and mental capabilities. These facts raises important questions about how well suited these devices are for use by elderly people. This study focuses on the cognitive aspects of the devices' usability, using the concept of mental models to analyze the users' understanding of a computer tablet. It also draws upon theory of graphical user interfaces in its analyses.

Use of lighting is crucial to make public urban places available during dark hours. Landscape architects participate in planning of lighting, but during our education there is very little taught on the subject. Through this study we approach the subject of lighting by looking into lighting methods for urban plant materials during winter. In this thesis we look into ways to emphasize the visible characters and experiences of urban plants during winter season using light. Target audience are landscape architect students and landscape architects without knowledge of lighting. The part of the thesis that describe basic conditions for, and visual characters of plants can be useful to lighting designers without knowledge in this subject. Working methods used were the following: ? Pre-study about light and lighting techniques through literature and dialogues. ? Compiling important visual winter plant characters through photography and literature. ? Outdoor light experiments with plants.

Bakgrund och frågeställning: Betydelsen av design ökar allt mer. Studier har visat att en stor andel företag har uppmärksammat att design bidrar till en mängd positiva effekter, men trots detta finns det en avvaktande inställning till design inom många företag. Då yrkesgrupper förväntas arbeta allt närmare varandra vid produktutveckling innebär skilda åsikter om design problem. Samarbetet mellan yrkesgrupperna kan ses som något positivt då grupper med olika erfarenheter och synsätt kompletterar varandra och således kan nå bättre resultat genom samarbete. I praktiken har detta samarbete dock visat sig vara problematiskt eftersom de olika aktörerna vid produktutveckling haft svårt att kommunicera och förstå varandra.

Polymyosit är relativt vanligt förekommande hos hund och avser en generellt utbredd inflammatorisk myopati med förmodad immunmedierad etiologi. Som med andra idiopatiska sjukdomar, är etiologin för polymyosit inte klarlagd. Inflammatoriska myopatier kännetecknas av infiltration av inflammatoriska celler i tvärstrimmig muskulatur. Myocytdegeneration, nekros och apoptos tros vara till följd av T-cellsmedierad cytotoxicitet genom CD8+ T-celler. Större hundraser verkar vara predisponerade för polymyosit och studier har indikerat att raserna boxer och newfoundlandshund drabbas i större utsträckning än andra. En misstänkt rasspecifik polymyosit har även uppmärksammats hos ungersk vizsla. Denna litteraturstudie är ett försök till sammanställning av patologin vid polymyosit hos hund, med syfte att jämföra tänkbara etiologier och patogeneser hos olika raser; i synnerhet hos boxer, newfoundlandshund och ungersk vizsla.

A brush of paint on a grey compound wall can mean so much more than simply an addition of colour. This study presents an alternate viewpoint to the strive to overcome the gap between research and practitioners within paper prototyping in interaction design. Earlier research identifies three aspects of this gap, which is:Practitioners being unaware of interaction design methods and theoriesPractitioners being aware, but choosing not to apply these methods and theories, due to time, budget and constraints of labourPractitioners and research having different perspective on similar design issuesOur study was done by carrying out qualitative interviews with interaction designers based on two digital design bureaus. One of the bureaus has an expressed link to research: the other has not. Our hypothesis is that the gap would manifest as a difference in work practice between the two bureaus.Our study shows that the two bureaus have similarities in work practice and that this work practice is based on scientific methods and theories, but is adapted to fit the client and/or the project. We conclude that the overcoming of the gap might not be necessary.

Abstract: The fashion industry is perhaps the most unpredictable one where change occurs very rapidly. In order to be attractive and interesting in this competitive industry, a brand must constantly be up to date and differentiated from other brands to attract the consumers. This has given rise to an increasing growth of brands that cooperate for marketing reasons and more specifically, clothing retailers that perform designer collaborations with exclusive designers to create limited collections.Studies describing the effects of those collaborations on the retailers brands are rare and especially from a consumer perspective. Since H&M has been a pioneer in designer collaborations and has done it more times and for more years than any other retailer we have conducted our study on their case. Our intention was to investigate how the designer collaborations have affected the brand equity and image of H&M, if the collaborations have increased the willingness to pay for H&M's other ranges and if they have affected H&M's ability to extend its brand to higher price segments, through an experimental study.

Syftet med denna studie var att beskriva och analysera fyra organisationers preventiva arbete mot utbrändhet. Studiens vetenskapliga position var hermeneutisk med kvalitativ design. Intervjuer gjordes med personalansvarig i respektive organisation. Utifrån fenomenologisk analysmodell av Giorgi beskriven av Malterud (1998) analyserades sex teman; orsak till utbrändhet, hälsa, samhörighet, psykosocialt klimat, vägledning och kompetensutveckling. Analysen av intervjuerna skedde utifrån tre teoretiska perspektiv; salutogenetiskt perspektiv, stressteori och Krauklis och Schenströms modell för förebyggande arbete mot utbrändhet på organisationsnivå.

This is a final project which makes up 20 credits at the Landscapearchitecture programme at SLU in Alnarp. The thesis is design based. My final project is comprised two parts; of a competition entry for ? A New Square in the Centre of Täby? as well as a theoretical study that derives from the competition proposal. The competiton itself was announced on March 1st 2007 with the final hand-in date on May 28th 2007. The program of the competition asked for a flexible urban square that offers a diverse range of activities that can be used during both night and day, all year around. I became interested in the term ?mutlifunctionality? and I went on to use the subject as a base for my design approach.

It is a well-known fact that textiles and carpets have benign sound-absorbing properties. It is desirable to have quantified values of these properties ? especially for architects and interior designers. They often need to be able to giveaccount for the acoustic properties of their designs at a relatively early stage and sometimes have strict acoustic classifications imposed upon them by their contractor. A product with documented acoustic properties would aid when prescribing interior elements.The purpose of this thesis is to develop a wall-mounted panel in hand-tufted material ? aesthetically pleasing and versatile but also having documented and quantified acoustic properties.

This study is a thorough comparison between what people think about the website www.sl.se, which is a Swedish web-based travel planner for Stockholm metropolitan public transport (such as subways, busses and suburban trains), and how these views compares to the design of the actual website itself. The travel planner offers a wide range of functions and services for their targeted audience to find the fastest route between their current location and their destination. These functions are for example real time information on hold ups and malfunctions on different travel routes, and an interactive map of specific destinations so that the user can get a clear view of the area and nearby traffic stops. But how much does the average user care for these functions, and how often are they used on an average visit? What are the users? motivations when they visit the site? Earlier research suggested that there are services and functions on this website that are useful and well crafted, but that some people may not be aware of.

The purpose of this thesis is to study to what extent the methodological theories are being reflected in the construction of user surveys at public libraries in Sweden. The study has been conducted as a qualitative literature study in two parts. The first part is an examination of literature concerning survey methodology; the second part is a study of three user surveys conducted at Swedish public libraries after 1995. Our main results indicate that the theories about methodology are followed in part, though it cannot be determined whether this is due to any actual methodological studies, common sense, or just copying other surveys. In our study we have found some areas of user survey construction that need further attention and that would benefit from more extensive methodology studies on the part of survey designers.
