Hållbarhetsredovisning till nytta för finansiella intressenter? : en fallstudie

Companies today are facing more and different kinds of demands from the society and their stakeholders. It is no longer enough to just deliver the products, and not just the quality of the products that matter. The consumers are getting more conscious about the many ways in which companies affect the society and the environment in which we live. The financial sector, that among others includes stakeholders such as insurance companies, banks and fund companies are starting to realise the importance of the non- financial issues that companies are encountering. Analysing the companies sustainability when it comes to social and environmental issues, has become an increasingly important factor when for example choosing companies to invest in.

Different studies have shown that somewhere between 10 000 and 75 000 persons live in Sweden as undocumented migrants. They are not entitled to basic human and social rights such as access to health care on the same basis as persons holding a residence permit in Sweden. Undocumented migrants are often exploited as workers in the informal economy and they are not allowed to organize in unions. The Swedish Social Services is by law bound to care for all people living in Sweden, though in reality undocumented migrants are excluded from benefits and efforts granted by the Social Services. Our aim with the study has been to investigate the situation of undocumented migrants in Sweden and in relation to Social Services.

Human resource management inom parkförvaltning

Syfte: I denna studie vill jag undersöka hur rekryteringsprocesser, gruppdynamik och motivationsfrågor behandlas inom kommunal och privat parkförvaltning. Dessa frågor behandlas inom ramen för Human resource management, som handlar om att ta till vara på målen för organisationer och medarbetares behov att utvecklas på jobbet. Med en ämnesinriktad litteratur och en kvalitativ intervjuteknik vill jag undersöka de frågor som aktualiseras av dem som arbetar inom kommunal regi och i privat företagande. Frågorna delades upp i ämnesområdena; organisation, rekrytering, medarbetare, motivation och gruppdynamik. Metod: Intervjuerna studerades ingående och vid upprepade tillfällen för att få en uppfattning om var kärnan i informationen som informanterna delgivit mig låg. Därefter analyserades texterna och resultaten delades in i teman; synen på organisation och rekrytering/motivation och karriärmöjligheter och gruppdynamik på arbetsplats. Slutsats: Det visade sig att ledarna till stor del litar på medarbetarnas förmågor att hitta motivation och att arbeta tillsammans i grupper.

Kärnkraftens värde i framtiden : en jämförelse med kraftvärmeteknologi från biobränsle

The debate on the future of Nuclear power in Sweden has increased with the discussion on global warming. The uncertainty of fossil fuel- and carbonprices the latest years has aroused considerable interest in Nuclear from power companies, industry and politicians. Nuclear power plants have negligible CO2 emissions and are not directly affected by increased price of emission rights and fossil fuels. The future power production needs to reduce its emissions of greenhouse gases to become sustainable. The purpose of this study is to examine the value for power producers to have the option to invest in Nuclear power and how a Nuclear power venture would affect future electricity prices. The study uses two methods, a traditional cash flow model and real option analysis, to estimate the value of Nuclear power.

Vattenapeteorin: Paradigmskifte eller pseudovetenskap?

The Aquatic Ape theory was first formulated by Alister Hardy in year 1960. All from the beginning the theory has been criticized, ridiculed, ignored and a source to strong feelings in the anthropological community. The purpose of this essay is to investigate why the Aquatic Ape theory is so controversial and why it is understood so differently by scientists. After interviews with Swedish scientists and the general community, and after reading of anthropological books, I have tried to show that the aquatic ape-coldness depends on it challenging nature against the anthropological paradigm, which describes human beings as strong, hunting creatures who can live in any environment. The Aquatic Ape theory - on the other hand - picks out one of all these environments and says: "here has our evolution occurred: we have been aquatic apes".

Hållbarhetsredovisningens budskap : en komparativ studie av Vattenfall och E.ON

Society?s expectations differ and stakeholders are demanding that companies act responsibly on matters related to climate, work environment and Human Rights. The purpose of sustainability reports is that companies should measure, present and take responsibility in relation to their internal and external stakeholders. It is intended that a reasonable picture of the company's sustainability performance should be communicated, containing both positive and negative effects.Companies efforts with sustainability issues is industry-dependent and industries with significant environmental problems perform the most advanced environmental statement.

Etnisk diskriminering- från arbetslivet till Arbetsdomstolen? : En granskning av Arbetsdomstolens praxis gällande etnisk diskriminering

The right to non-discrimination is a fundamental part of Human Rights. Sweden has enacted legislation which prohibits employers from discriminating or harassing employees and job seekers. Swedish authorities also receive a substantial amount of complaints concerning ethnic discrimination in the workplace every year and there are volumes of research showing structural injustices related to discrimination. Despite these facts few employers have so far been found guilty of discrimination on ethnic grounds in Swedish courts.This thesis aims to shed lights on and analyse how the Swedish anti-discrimination legislation is utilised in the Swedish Labour Court regarding discrimination and harassment on ethnic grounds. On the basis that very few lawsuits brought on behalf of employees/job seekers have been successful it is hypothesized that there are problems either with the form of the legislation or the assessment of the court.

The effect has been that the unprioritized creditors often have not recieved any of their claims after the bank have re-cieved theirs. Many countries have during the last decades deviated from this law and in 2003, Sweden decided to take the same path.

Human Relations : En enkätstudie av en grupp blivande lärares kommunikationsfärdigheter

SammanfattningSyftet med denna undersökning är att prova ut ett verktyg bland en grupp blivande lärare i träning i mänskliga relationer (Human Relations Training eller HRT). HRT är en utbildning i hur man kan kommunicera med bl a elever, kollegor och föräldrar för att skapa goda relatio-ner och konstruktivt hitta lösningar till konflikter och andra problem. Tidigare forskning visar att blivande lärare samt nyblivna lärare i Sverige anser sig ha goda ämneskunskaper men upp-lever en osäkerhet i det kommunikativa mötet vid exempelvis konflikter och vanliga problem som kan uppstå i det vardagliga mötet med elever och andra personer. I USA har det sedan decennier ingått HRT i lärarutbildningen, men då vi inte fann någon tidigare koppling till HRT i den svenska lärarutbildningen blev det intressant att prova HRT:s rekommendationer med kunskaperna som snart nyblivna lärare i Sverige har. En av oss författare fick en utbild-ning i HRT, i USA.

Attityder till två olika brottstyper och till att hålla förhör med misstänkta gärningsmän

Attitydens omedvetna effekt är omöjlig att styra, då till exempel känslor såsom ilska, omedvetet kan påverka hur vi reagerar med vår omgivning. Med detta i åtanke undersökte föreliggande experiment huruvida det fanns någon skillnad mellan 44 kvinnor och 42 mäns, ur allmänheten, attityder till att hålla förhör med personer misstänkta för misshandel respektive skattebrott. Halva gruppen undersökningsdeltagare, läste en beskrivning av ett misshandelsfall och den andra gruppen ett skattebrottsfall, varefter deltagarna besvarade frågeformulär om attityder till kriminella respektive attityder till att hålla förhör med brottsmisstänkta personer. En två-vägs variansanalys med män och kvinnor samt brottstyperna som beroende variabler visade att misstänkta för misshandelsbrottet ansågs kunna förhöras med en signifikant lägre grad av humanitet, jämfört med personer misstänkta för skattebrott. En interaktionseffekt förelåg och simple effekt analyser visade att det var kvinnornas resultat som stod för interaktionseffekten.

Dynamisk kunskapsorganisation: teoretisk ansats och implementering

Knowledge organization is perceived as a central, constituting activity defining the notion of libraries. Critique calling for a new theoretical foundation voiced by active researchers within library and information science concerning the current knowledge organization has been utilized as a point of departure. Specifications concerning a new theoretical foundation implied by these critiques are considered within this thesis and theory found in The Order of Things by Michel Foucault proposed as an alternative theory for understanding knowledge organization as a human science where meaning, value and representation, by which the ordering of things is possible, is acknowledged as a result of human activity and history. Thus meaning, value and representation must be perceived as dynamic. An example of implementation of the proposed theory has been achieved by the use of bibliometrics.

Safe retrieval of nutrients to improve food security

Safe retrieval of nutrients from human excreta to fertilize crops in order to gain adequate yields will increase food security and sustainability in agriculture areas with nutrient-poor fields. Safe and nutritious food will meet the dietary needs of the individual which promotes public health and the ability of an active life. Human excreta should be considered as a resource instead of being assumed as waste. Human faeces and urine is excellent fertilizers which may close the nutrient loop if utilized properly. However, sanitation of the excreta is required to prevent disease transmission by reducing the content of gastrointestinal pathogens such as bacteria, viruses and parasites. The objective of this study was to in small scale evaluate the sanitation in a combined liquid compost and urea treatment by monitor the inactivation of bacteria and viruses at the combination three start temperatures, 45, 40 and 35 °C, and three additions of urea, 0.5, 0.75 and 1 % and reference, 0 % urea addition.

  Människobehandlande organisationer :   - En studie i upplevelser av positiva och negativa kontakter ur ett klientperspektiv

This is a qualitative study that includes participants that are in connection with a non-civic organization in Sweden. The study aims to capture the participants? subjective experiences regarding human service organizations. The starting point is to catch both their positive and negative experiences, and then try to concretize what directed their perception in both ways. Is there any specific organization that is represented in positive and the negative column? Is it possible to explain the experience by looking at the organization and the organizational goals? Is it possible to see variables that might explain the perception?The study has a narrative focus that seeks the answers in the organisational context rather than in the stories themselves.
