The estate of Rydboholm is situated in the municipality of Österåker, north of Stockholm, Sweden, and has a long history dating back to the 14th century. Rydboholm was the home of several families of great national importance, such as the Finsta and Vasa clans. However, since the 1500s, the noble family Brahe was the most influential; leaving its mark on the castle and surroundings. The gardens of Rydboholm consist of two parts; The first is from the baroque era, dating back to the 1660s, and the second is an immense landscape park completed around the year 1800 by Magnus Fredrik Brahe. During his travels through Europe, Magnus Fredrik Brahe was influenced by the new English-style gardens and he brought a large collection of literature on the subject back to Sweden, still kept in the library of Rydboholm.

Syftet med denna uppsats är att undersöka hur nationella föreställningar producerats och reproducerats inom den svenska scoutrörelsen.Jag har funnit scoutrörelsen intressant att studera därför att den å ena sidan uppstod i en nationalistisk kontext och å andra sidan utgjorde en internationell organisation med internationalistiska strävanden.Denna uppsats utgår från att föreställningar om nationen konstrueras i förhållande till något annat, att Sverige och "svenskhet" formuleras med utgångspunkt i föreställningar om begreppens motsatser. "Vi" uppstår i relation till "de andra". I denna uppsats analyserar jag koloniala föreställningars närvaro i scoutmaterialet och använder dessa för att på så sätt dyrka upp föreställningarna om nationen och om "oss". Detta görs utifrån en diskursanalytisk utgångspunkt med inspiration från postkolonial teori som erbjuder en teoretisk ansats till förklaring av den interaktion i föreställningarna mellan "vi" och "de andra"..

Uppsatsen tar sin utgångspunkt i den förväntade konflikten mellan stat och kommun i tillhandahållandet av välfärdstjänster. För att möjliggöra en omfördelnings- och stabiliseringspolitik använder sig vissa länder, såsom Sverige, av utjämningssystem. En alltför omfattande utjämning riskerar emellertid att ske på bekostnad av möjligheten att anpassa kompensationen efter faktiska kostnader. Uppsatsen återknyter till frågeställningen om kompensationen från staten är tillräcklig. I fokus står de kostnader kommuner har för tilhandahållandet av välfärdstjänster för invandrare, vilket sker mot bakgrund av att tidigare studier visar på otillräcklig kompensation.

This essay discusses the development of swords in the southern region of Sweden, Skåne. It attempts to locate the areas in Europe where the swords were first made and, in doing so, trace the communication routes by which people traveled. The essay deals with aperiod of a few hundred years, from the late eighth century to sometime around 1300. In that sense, it is therefore also a time study tracing the cultural changes and developments in Skåne during the era of Christianization. Does the development of swords follow the overall changes in society, from an isolated pagan district to a Catholic European community, or not? In answering this question, eight swords were selected and put under closer observation.

The main aim of this research is to survey the general colour scheme for private dwellings inVisby, built 1860?1930. During this period the visual appearance of the town of Visby changedsubstantially, since the increased local production of lime led to the plastering of many woodenbuildings. Which colour schemes were chosen for the different building types of the historic centreof Visby, and which colours came to dominate the time period? The methods used for answeringthese questions have partly been field studies on site and sampling of selected buildings, andpartly critical reading and observation of iconographic material (paintings, drawings, aquarelles,postcards and photographs).

This essay focuses on the function and development of city harbors during the middle ages in the Scanian part of Öresund. The purpose of the survey is to take a closer look at topography, development and activities on the shores in three coastal cities along the west coast of Scania. The cities that has been part of the survey are: Skanör ? Falsterbo, Malmoe and Landskrona, three cities that follows each other chronologically and that show both similarities and differences in appearance, function and urbanization.The cities of Skanör ? Falsterbo and Malmoe were important market places for the medieval Scania market with the herring fishery in focus. The cities? birth has to be looked upon in relation to these activities.

The aim of this study is to examine Turkish nationalism in order to find what factors that play a part in Turkey's inability to confess and discuss such events as the Armenian Genocide, which took place between the years of 1915.-1923, by the fall of the Ottoman Empire. The factors found and examined closely are collective memory and the use of history. The paper is a case study of Turkey with a theoretical approach, trying to apply theories of nationalism, collective memory and history-writing on Turkish nationalism, in order to find an answer to how these factors stands in the way of reconciliation.Conclusions are that Turkey as a nation is stuck in a romanticization and glorification of the time of their founding leader, Atatürk, and the thought of the pure, homogenous Turkishness. This makes the nation incapable of discussing and accepting what others in this case acknowledges as historical facts. The taboo-making of these matters makes reconciliation today not possible..

Den här uppsatsen har sin utgångspunkt i staden Lund vid tiden för Sveriges nationella omröstning om totalt rusdrycksförbud 1922. Syftet är att belysa den lokala alkoholsyn och de lokala alkoholkulturer som möjliggjort stadens specifika valresultat; ett valresultat som visade det näst lägsta förbudsintresset i hela landet.Uppsatsen försöker beskriva hur stadens olika aktörer och samhällsskikt - såsom arbetare, akademiker, borgerlighet och nykterhetsrörelse - förhållit sig till alkohol och till förbudet. This thesis rewievs present day research on the settlement of Östra Aros in central Sweden. The thesis deals with the period from late Iron age to about 1270 AD, when the Swedish archdiocese moved to the already existing early-medieval settlement of Östra Aros, thus becoming the medieval town of Uppsala. The basis of the thesis is the study of a variety of source materials, such as artefact studies, runestones, topography and the prehistoric and early medieval hinterland. The thesis centers on archaeological excavation data and dating of settlement structures, particularly focusing on the settlements establishment. Through a critical review of primarily the written record and the archaeological data, the settlements characteristics and functions are discussed, emphasising when and if the settlement could be described as a town, central- or trading place..

The aim of this study is to describe and analyze the history and the current situation of the Church of Sweden. The renovation of Skalljö church in Lerum municipality has been used as an example to enlighten the common changes in the church buildings. The long history of the Church of Sweden as the state church has resulted in the fact that it carries a remarkable part of the Swedish cultural heritage. The reason why the Heritage Conservation Act (1988:950) was altered in January 2000 was due to the change of relations between the State and the Church of Sweden.
