Objective: In recent years there has been an increasing interest within the clinical (medical) science in measuring people?s health. When estimating quality of life, present practise is to use the EQ-5D questionnaire and an index which weighs the different questions. The question is what happens if the individuals estimate there own health, would it differ from the public preferences? The aim is to make a new prediction model based on the opinion of patients and compare it to the present model based on public preferences.Method: A sample of 362 patients with unstable coronary artery disease from the Frisc II trial, valued their quality of life in the acute phase and after 3, 6 and 12 months.

ABSTRACT Introduction: One of the great difficulties that the nurse anesthetist encounter in their profession is to assess and estimate sleep depth versus signs of pain in the anesthetized patient. Based on a pre-operative appointment and the perioperative monitoring, an assessment of the patient is made. The experience that the nurse anesthetist has can make it easier to understand what subtile signs of the patient depends on. Purpose: With this in mind, the purpose of the pilot study was to try to find out if there are specific signs of pain during anesthesia and if the professional experience played a role. As a subsidiary aim the authors examined whether there were factors in the patient that the nurse anesthetist takes into account in the identification of pain during anesthesia.

Sjukdomar i hjärtats kranskärl och dess komplikationer förorsakar 23% av alla dödsfall hos kvinnor i Sverige där akut hjärtinfarkt ensam står för 6% av fallen. Atypiska och diffusa symtom är en av orsakerna till att kvinnor med hjärtinfarkt inte alltid kommer till sjukhus i tid. Syftet med denna litteraturstudie är att belysa kvinnors upplevelser av hjärtinfarkt i det akuta skedet. Vi vill även få klarhet i varför kvinnor ofta väntar med att söka vård och dessutom riskerar att inte bli tagna på allvar. Vi har valt metod i form av en litteraturstudie där vi analyserar kvalitativ forskning som bygger på nio vårdvetenskapliga artiklar.

Patienter med cardiovaskulär sjukdom kräver i många fall en livslång medicinering där följsamheten till den medicinska behandlingen ofta brister. Följden blir ett lidande för individen med ett försämrat hälsotillstånd. Sjuksköterskans ansvarsområde innefattar att förmedla evidensbaserad kunskap till sina patienter. Syftet är därför att belysa metoder till ökad följsamhet genom sjuksköterskans pedagogiska roll i samband med läkemedels behandling vid cardiovaskulär sjukdom. Purpose: The purpose of the essay is to result in recommendations for how non-profit organizations work with signing new and keeping existing donors can be improved.Methology: The thesis has a hermeneutic view. It does not have the intention to lead to generalizations, although the result could lead to new knowledge, increased  understanding and deepened insight based on well thought-out interpretations. Furthermore, the thesis has a deductive approach. The research method is qualitative and the objectivity has been sustained by not enter personal values and views until the discussion section. It is a case study and semi-structured interviews have been done with two non-profit organizations, two individual donors and three donating/sponsoring companies.Theoretical perspective: The essay proceed from theories in development, fundraising, communication and customer relations.

Hypothermia during anaesthesia is a well-known phenomenon that may cause several side-effects such as greater risk of postoperative wound infection and increased risk of heart complications. The most efficient way to avoid this is to prevent hypothermia from occurring. The aim of this paper was to compile the research on the most efficient way to prevent hypothermia during anaesthesia for cats and dogs, and to compare these results to how Swedish animal hospitals prevent hypothermia today. To investigate this, a survey was sent out to several animal hospitals around Sweden to see what methods they used to prevent hypothermia in their clinics. It is difficult if not impossible to prevent the body temperature from falling slightly when anaesthesia is induced because of the drug interactions in the body that follow from the drugs given. A 1-1,5°C decrease in body temperature is to be expected and is difficult to avoid.

Syftet med den här studien är att belysa hur ungdomar med diagnosen Aspergers syndrom beskriver sina skolerfarenheter utifrån villkor och möjligheter till lärande och utveckling samt belysa vilka generella och specifika pedagogiska implikationer som framträder ur ungdomarnas erfarenheter.Studien är en kvalitativ studie med en fenomenologisk utgångspunkt vilken studerar individers perspektiv på sin inre värld.

Although research on gothic fiction has given limited attention to children?s fiction, the last two decades have witnessed an increasing interest. To date the focus has been mainly on English literature with a recurring tendency to define children?s gothic fiction as a text corpus separate from gothic fiction in general. As a result, children?s gothic fiction has become isolated and is not considered as part of the gothic genre, neither the literature nor its adaptations.The aim of this study is to view children?s gothic fiction as an integral part of the gothic genre.

In Sweden, selection for leanness in pigs has been going on for almost a century. This sometimes results in gilts and sows being too lean and consequently in a risk for reduced reproduction and health status. The Swedish recommendation includes that gilts should be mated after seven months of age, after one documented oestrus, at 120-140kg live weight and with a backfat thickness of 16-20mm. Five gilt producing herds were visited and records of age, heart girth (for weight estimation), body condition (visual estimation), backfat thickness and exterior were made. The same records were also taken in four gilt buying herds on newly purchased gilts.

Syftet med denna studie är att beskriva hur socialarbetare på två sjukhus i Indien arbetar med kris och sorg. Vi vill utifrån deras egna tankar och erfarenheter undersöka hur det psykosociala stödet ser ut för människor på dessa sjukhus. Vi fokuserar även på hur socialarbetarna själva resonerar kring kris och sorg, teoretiskt och praktiskt.Vi har genomfört åtta kvalitativa intervjuer med socialarbetare på sjukhus i Pune, Indien. Alla våra informanter har flera års erfarenhet av arbete med kris och sorg. Vi har analyserat vår empiri utifrån kris- och sorgeteorier, stödteori, psykopedagogiska metoder, den professionella relationen och religionens betydelse för sorgeprocessen med utgångspunkt från tidigare forskning.Studien visar att socialarbetarnas reflektioner om kris och sorg varierar.

New technology and urban sprawl have resulted in almost half of the population in Sweden being insufficiently physically active. The sedentary lifestyle causes heart- and vascular diseases, diabetes, high blood pressure, cancer, stress etc. in the population. One of the biggest priorities in the society is to promote more physical activity. Through literature studies and a questionnaire this paper will examine how we can design the built environment in order to promote physical exercise and if we can change the sedentary lifestyle with a outdoor environment that invite physical exercise. There are both internal and external factors that have importance for people?s physical activity.
