The purpose of this study is to give an insight in how music press is presented gender wise. The focus area lies in rock music and the study is made on British music magazine MOJO in the year of 2010. The study contains quantitative analyses showing how much room men are given compared to women. The study is also supplemented with image analyses of four covers spread out over the year. The main question is formulated as in, how much room do women get in music magazine MOJO 2010 and what output does this have on rock music?s gender characteristics? The main results show, amongst other things that 79% of all the articles are written with focus on one or more male musicians.

The purpose of this degree-project was to investigate the possibilities for primary air preheating into the two smallest waste incineration boilers of Halmstad Energy and Environment. The investigation is a pre-study which has the primary goal to evaluate technical and financial offers from companies that manufacture primary air preheater, and investigate if it is technically and financially profitable to do a purchase on primary air preheaters in the future.In the pre-study it is proposed that it is most efficient to have individual primary air preheater, one for each incineration boiler and the primary air are also proposed to be preheated by hot water in the pre-study. Further in the pre-study it is proposed that the heat-exchanger should have plain tubes instead of finned tubes, to avoid getting dirty fast. The space in the boiler-room is limited, and therefore the major problem was to fit in the primary air preheaters into the boiler-room. By comparing the different offers from the companies, the result in the pre-study shows that the offer from the company C.A.

This thesis explores how the city of Gothenburg integrates and use social capital, defined through factors such as trust and cooperative networks, in its crisis preparedness strategies and how this can enhance the city's collective resilience. The study aims to contribute to the understanding of how social capital can be leveraged to strengthen crisis management and resilience in urban environments. The research analyzes existing quantitative data from the SOM-Institute regarding residents perceptions and self-reported preparedness actions and reviews Gothenburg's official civil defense plan for 2024?2027. By examining various aspects of social capital, including levels of trust and cooperative networks across different city districts and age groups, the analysis focuses on how social bonds and community contexts are considered in planning for handling and recovering from potential crises.

Purpose/aim: The purpose of this thesis is to examine if, and in that case how, the municipality of Umeå worked strategically with its communication during 2014 when Umeå was chosen as ?European Capital of Culture?. The research is mainly focused on the outlines of their communication plan, main goals, what  communication strategies the municipality has chosen to and their choice of media channels.Material/method: Two methods are used for this research; qualitative interviews with four employees within the communication team during Umeå2014 and a text analysis of three formal documents which provide the framework of communication policies and media strategies during Umeå2014.Results: The results clearly indicate a well structured, strategic planning outlined in the formal documents. Detta arbete utgår ifrån en enighet i forskningen om att mätningar av ljud inte är tillräckligt för att bestämma ljudlandskapets kvalitet. Enligt EU direktivet 2002/49/EG som senare skrivits in i miljöbalken, ska varje kommun eller tätort med mer än 100 000 invånare framställa bullerkartor som i sin tur ska användas som underlag i ett åtgärdsprogram. Direktivets syfte är att informera politiker, medborgare och planerare i buller frågan i den givna tätorten. Forskning tyder dock på att allmänheten och icke specialister har svårt att tyda bullerkartorna och att gemene man inte har någon referens till de mätnivåer som presenteras. I arbetet presenteras en översikt av teorier och begrepp som behandlar ämnet ljudlandskap (soundscape) och koncept och metoder som tillhör detta begrepp.

Industriområdet är dock separerat från den övriga staden genom sin struktur och funktion. Vid stadsförnyelseprojekt av industriområden från efterkrigstiden har man ofta valt att riva allt och sedan bygga nytt. Denna uppsats har haft som mål att undersöka om även sentida industriområde kan anses bevarandevärda ur ett kulturhistoriskt perspektiv och hur man kan planera om ett sentida industriområde till en integrerad del av staden. Arbetet har utifrån detta studerat begreppet kulturarvsbegreppet för att sedan redovisa för vad flera forskare inom stadsplanering har för tankar om stadsförnyelse, strukturer och kulturarv. Syftet med vår uppsats är att identifiera funktioner som är viktiga i ett hållbart grönområde och att med hjälp av dessa ta fram en bedömningsmall för hållbara grönområden. Som en andra del i uppsatsens syfte har vi tillämpat vår framtagna mall praktiskt på ett par grönområden i Malmö för att se hur dessa ser ut i förhållande till mallen. Genom en direktobservation har vi bedömt parkerna i förhållande till bedömningsmallen. This master project in landscape architecture is named Interactivation Design - places for social imagination and conversation in Lindängelund. There are two main purposes of this thesis the first being to bring forth a study of interactivity implemented in the subject of landscape architecture. The second purpose of this thesis is to present a proposal to design a confluent landscape weaving together the upcoming botanical garden of Lindängelund and the residential area of Almvik, both situated in southern Malmö, Sweden, and also weaves people and their experiences together. This project may be described as investigative and experimentative reaserch by design.The first part of this project, Interactivation, is consisting of a theoretical report which discusses different ways of approaching when, how and why we interact in public space. Literature studies in for example space, placemaking, social life, people, participation and Japanese emptiness concepts has been undertaken to gain knowledge in the aim to create interactive landscape design.The second part, Context and Design Proposal, introduces the project context area of Southern Fosie in Malmö which consists of different kinds of residential areas, people of different nationalities and a large building site for a botanical garden and recreational area.
