A trend since the early 90?s has been that some public libraries offer a special shelf containing environmental information to the community, but it seems as though the subject has been overlooked by the literature and the science community. The purpose of this bachelor thesis is to study how three independent public libraries work with environmental information that is made available to the community. The following questions were addressed: 1) Which arguments can be found as to why the libraries offer this activity? 2) How does the environmental work at the public libraries look and what does it contain of? 3) Are there any similarities or differences in this work between the three libraries?To answer these questions interviews with librarians were carried out; observations were made to complement the interviews.

AbstractDuring the last decade the public sector has been influenced by new ways of measuring performance and governing, taking inspiration from the private sector. The Swedish municipal community Vellinge has since 2004 adopted ?The Balanced Scorecard? by Kaplan & Norton, measuring not only the financial parts but also other, important factors. The adoption took place since the Swedish government applied new demands on county councils and municipal communities through ?God ekonomisk hushållning?.

There are several energy systems in the Swedish society and to ensure the comfort and health of the citizens it is of importance that the different energy systems are functioning properly. District heating is one of these energy systems and many household depend only on district heating to warm up their homes. District heating is dependent on several processes where every step needs to function in order to deliver the produced heat to the end consumer. Previous studies have investigated the distribution of district heating and how to make customers choose district heating as their heating method. The supply of fuel to the district heating plant has not been studied as much, even though it is an important part of the whole system. This thesis is a part of the project NORD-STAR (Nordic Strategic Adaption Research), which has focused on climate adaption in the Nordic countries.

Metod: Vi använder oss av en kvalitativ undersökningsmetod där vårt fallföretag är SAS. Vår empiri består av både primär- och sekundärdata och ansatsen är av abduktiv natur. Teoretiska perspektiv: Det finns mycket forskning om strategiska allianser inom flygindustrin och teorin betonar vikten av ett gott förtroende mellan de samarbetande parterna. Uppenbart är dock att förtroendet mellan företagen sjunker när yttre faktorer tvingat en eller flera medlemmar i en allians att ändra sin strategi så att den i viss mån strider mot alliansens uttalade, såsom exempelvis i en lågkonjunktur.

Abstract Back ground: Home based care is a meaningful activity giving patients and their families a chance to live their lives as close to normal as possible. Advanced palliative care is today provided at home, although geography does play a role in shaping that care. A rural setting can mean that conditions for such care differ from those in urban areas.Purpose: To describe the experiences of district nurses in palliative home care settings in a rural community.Method: Semi structured interviews with seven district nurses. The interviews were recorded digitally and transcribed in a precise fashion. A method of qualitative analysis of the contents, inspired by Burnard, was used to analyze the material.Results: Palliative care places high demands on the competency and experience of district nurses.

Background: Flavan-3-ols are polyphenolic phytochemicals belonging to the flavonoids. Flavan-3-ols are present in many higher plants and are particularly concentrated in e.g. Camellia sinensis (tea) and Theobroma cacao (cacao) and have got attention due to their antioxidative capacity. Many studies have been able to associate flavan-3-ol-rich foods to improved endothelial function. The aim of the present work is to review the scientific literature and evaluate the evidence for positive effects of flavan-3-ols on endothelial dysfunction in humans. Method: Scientific articles describing intervention and observational studies about flavan-3-ols and endothelial dysfunction, were searched for on http://www.pubmed.org.

Introduction: The National Board of Health and Welfares conclusion was that today there was a low awareness about children who act sexually toward others and how their problems can be handled. This requires extensive work by school personnel and social workers to give the children the support they need. Aim: The aim was to investigate social workers perception in cases concerning children and adolescents who committed sexual assault. Method: A qualitative method was utilized with semi-structured interviews to describe social workers perceptions in cases concerning children and adolescents who committed sexual assault. Four social workers from different communities were interviewed in southern Sweden.

Denna uppsats undersöker de rums- och identitets(re)konstruktioner som sker i mötet med De Andra. Semistrukturerade djupintervjuer med elva personer som har erfarenhet av arbete i postkolonial miljö ? i detta fall Tanzania - samt platsobservation av ett så kallat ?expatriate community? ger empiri som analyseras med en dekonstruktiv intersektionell ansats. Studien visar att identitetsmarkörer korsas och skapar identitets(re)konstruktioner. Processen framkallar det objekt som inte tillhör det egna Jaget och skapar ett Dem ? samtidigt som det sker omförhandlingar beträffande hemlandet och dess invånare.

The aim of this study was to acquire a greater understanding and knowledge about how care staff at houses with special services for people with intellectual disabilities think and work (handle situations) regarding sexuality. To achieve our goal we carried out nine semi structured interviews using an interview guide. These interviews took place in two different communities in southern Sweden. The theoretical perspectives that were used to analyze the result were Sense of Coherence, Scope of action and Normalization. The result showed that the staff considered sexuality a part of their work and a natural subject to talk about.

The aim of this master?s study is to examine the function of the public library in the local community at present. I have searched for the answers to the following questions: Which position has the public library in the local cultural policy? What characterizes each library and which are the priorities? What is the local profile of the public library? What cooperation partners does the public library have and what do they mean to the library? Does the public library intensify the local community in any way? To answer this, I have made three qualitative case studies. Interviews and collection of documents were carried out in three different communities.

Då miljö är ett ämne som får större och större utrymme i politiken, medier och våra dagliga liv så blir det en viktig aspekt som företagen måste ta hänsyn till. Transporternas utsläpp av växthusgaser utgör en tydlig miljöpåverkan och regeringen har därför satt upp mål om att utsläppen ska minskas med minst 40 % fram till år 2020. Syftet med undersökningen är att undersöka hur transportföretagen arbetar med miljömål för att minska utsläppen av växthusgaser, vilka arbetssätt de använder sig av och vilka effekter de kunnat urskilja. För att kunna ta reda på hur de resonerar kring och arbetar med att minska utsläppen har vi gjort en kvalitativ undersökning med semistrukturerade intervjuer hos åtta stora transportföretag som verkar inom Sverige. Vår teoretiska referensram från tidigare forskning och litteratur infattade Den logistiska målmixen, Resursflöde, Grön Marknadsföring och TQEM. Studien visade att företagen är medvetna om regeringens mål men arbetar utifrån sina egna. För att minska ner på utsläppen av växthusgaser arbetar de främst med effektivare logistik, ecodriving och till viss del alternativa drivmedel. För att möjliggöra fortsatta förbättringar så kommer det behövas ytterligare stöd i infrastrukturen..

During the nineties, ecological handling of urban storm water became very popular in Sweden. Together with Chalmers University of Technology and two Swedish communities, DHI Water and Environment has been doing research of storm water ponds and constructed wetlands. This thesis work is a part of that research project. The work has been applied at the Bäckaslöv storm water treatment plant in Växjö, Sweden. The plant consists of one storm water pond and a downstream constructed wetland.

The underlying purpose of this study is to investigate how the libraries in Sweden organize and administrate the service of providing literature in other languages than Swedish. The study focuses on the central guiding principles that regulate the provision of multilingual literature and how these guidelines are implemented in to practice at the libraries. As the guidelines are closely connected to the official discourse in Sweden concerning policies targeted towards immigrants, the guidelines will be examined from a perspective of integration politics. To assemble data a survey has been conducted looking into factors such as how the libraries perceive the guidelines, how the libraries do business intelligence and user inquires to reach out to the users of the multilingual media, forms for statistics and method of working. The results points out that the libraries in their work with multilingual media are confronted with three tensions; the first tension is that between the libraries aim to promote equality and freedom for the individual and at the same time to fulfil certain collective interests and goals.
