The purpose of this bachelor thesis is to examine the handling and shelving of graphic novels and adult-comics in Swedish public libraries, in order to find out if this type of literature is prioritized in the same way as other forms of literature. The study was conducted by photographing the Hci/uHci shelves at ten different public libraries to give an objective view of the shelving to later be analysed and compared. Inquiry sheets were sent to the photographed libraries in order to get the librarians view of their own comic book shelves and collections. We found that the state of the comic-shelves differed from library to library according to how interested and committed the librarians were. New research areas in the field of Library and Information Science are discussed and questions are raised about the future of graphic novels and adult-comic-books in libraries, about their place in the libraries and about how librarians and the users knowledge of this media can be improved..

Background: Men that have gone through treatment for prostate cancer may lose their sexuality as result of treatment. The sexual ability might symbolize manliness, despite age and sexual activities. Aim: The aim of the literature study was to describe; Influence on sexuality and the daily life for men with prostatecancer and their experience of informationneeds. Method: The material for the literature study was searched through databases; 13 scientific articles were selected and two articles through manual search, all 15 articles were examined. Result: Five categories were found in the result of the literature study; physical dimension, emotional/mental dimension, social/practical dimension and informationneeds.

Todays board game manuals have many shortcomings. One of them is that they are not always adapted to the game's target audience.Adapting the language and shape of a game manual for the the target group children, can save time for both parents and teachers, and give the children a chance to conquer the game by themselves. In addition, playing board games can lead to children developing other important properties such as problem solving and independence.This study found that the game manuals inconsistency, tone and the way they adress the reader makes it difficult for children to grasp the content. Many game manuals do not speak directly to the reader, and often describes gameplay in a passive way, which has been shown by this study.This study has resulted in 12 guidelines for writing game manuals for children. In addition, they have been tested with a sample study.

The aim of this thesis is to describe and analyze the geographical distribution of everyday criminality in the town of Borlänge during the year 2002 and to analyze which measures to be taken in the physical social planning to decrease this everyday criminality there. The term everyday criminality is here to be understood as those categories of crime that appear most frequently in the records of reports to the police every year. Here two kinds of crime have been in focus, thefts from cars and office burglary.In fulfilling this aim two main questions have been answered. The first one is how the everyday criminality was distributed geographically in the town of Borlänge during the year 2002. The second one is which measures to be taken in the physical social planning to decrease this everyday criminality in the town of Borlänge.In order to answer the first question a spatial autocorrelation analysis, Local Moran LISA has been used.

Detailed information and a good treatment can reduce anxiety and distress for the patient. The purpose of this study was to illuminate the patient?s experiences in connection to MRI, and to describe the patients needs for information and treatment.

User friendly manufacturing operations are a necessity.Lately there?s been an increase of the manufacturing volume which also increased the number of operators. More operators need to be trained and cross-trained.

År 2000 infördes lagen om väjningsplikt i Sverige. I samband med att lagen infördes minskade antalet obevakade övergångsställen i Sverige med cirka 15-20 procent. De kommuner som tog bort obevakade övergångsställen använde främst material från Vägverkets kampanj Zkona Zebrafolket för att informera invånarna.År 2009 beslutade Eskilstuna kommun att ta bort majoriteten av de obevakade övergångsställena i centrala Eskilstuna. I detta examensarbete har retoriska analyser genomförts på tre tidningsannonser från kampanjen Zkona Zebrafolket. Utifrån teorier om hur grafisk form kan väcka mottagarens uppmärksamhet samt om hur information kan anpassas till en heterogen målgrupp har ett annonsförslag tagits fram.

Arbetet behandlar en uppsättning verk som består av sammanlagt 37 illustrationer där jag medvetet använder olika fysionomiska formelement och omgivningsbeskrivningar för att gestalta valda typer av karaktärer.För att hinna genomföra arbetet begränsade jag det till visualisering av ett par grundkaraktärer, ond respektive god. Den första delen av arbetet består av enbart persongestaltningar, alla gjorda i gråskala. I den andra delen är de gjorda i färg och innefattar även symbol- eller händelsebeskrivande bakgrunder.Under arbetet har jag haft stor nytta av observationer från tillämpad kognitionsforskning. Det gäller dels hur vi observerar ansiktsdrag, kroppshållning och proportioner för att gruppera människor i vad vi tror är meningsfulla sociala, egenskapsbeskrivande kategorier, dels de formelement ? särskilt när det gäller ansiktsuttryck ? vi då tar speciellt intryck av.

Syftet är att beskriva och analysera förskollärarnas uppfattningar om hur Tecken som Alternativ och Kompletterande Kommunikation (TAKK) samt Grafiskt Alternativ och Kompletterande Kommunikation (GAKK) påverkar barnets kommunikativa förmåga och hur detta påverkar barngruppen. Detta är en kvalitativ studie utifrån en fenomenologisk teori där halvstrukturerade intervjuer samt en observation har använts som metod. Under denna studie intervjuades fyra förskollärare via mejlkontakt. Det genomfördes även en observation på en förskola. Resultatet visar att TAKK och GAKK bidrar positivt till barns kommunikativa utveckling samt för barnens respekt och förståelse för att alla är olika.

The aim of this study was to determine the self-perceived learning needs in patients with Coronary Heart Disease (CHD). CHD is the leading cause of death worldwide. Poor compliance is one of the causes of rehospitalisation. Patients suffering from CHD need education in order to manage their disease and prevent readmission to hospital. As hospital stays diminish the time available for patient education is limited.

Science has shown that siblings to children with a disability are affected by the family situation. The siblings often let their own needs and requests come secondary to their family members. This study illustrates how different professionals, who keep in contact with families with a disabled child, works with its siblings. The purpose with this study was to see how professionals, working as administrators, counselors at the habilitation and kin supporters in the region of Kalmar, include siblings while working with the families. Representatives from the professionals have been interviewed with a semi structured interview manual.The result showed that professionals have various opinions how siblings are affected by the family situation.

In the automatic manual transmission system, Opticruise, the choice of gear is based on several parameters such as road incline, driving resistance and vehicle mass. Many different mass estimations are made during driving. A final vehicle mass is then used to determine the current gear. Construction vehicles are often not equipped with air suspension and can therefore not estimate the vehicle mass when standing still. If that sort of vehicle is reloaded while standing still an incorrect mass estimation will be used and as an effect of that also a wrong gear.

In this study I investigated whether the strength in the manual response for emotional and neutral stimulus search arrays can explain some of the difference in reaction times (RT:s) for emotional stimuli, or not. Earlier, perceptual, cognitive and attentional processes has mostly been used to explain the variance in RT:s. Thirtythree individuals were asked to, as fast as possible, detect a target picture among distractor pictures in 3 rows x 4 columns arranged search arrays. The pictures were categorized in fear relevant animals (snake, spider) and neutral animals (cat). The results showed, more correct responses for cat target.
