The purpose of this project was to develop an interactive toy concept. A toy capable of reacting and expressing emotions like happiness, sadness, anger or love. And capable of developing its character with use.The initial questions was, how do I create interest, understanding and affection between a digital product and its user? How should the interaction be made?During the course of the project the search has mainly been for something that does not base its shape and interaction on likeness. Forexample likeness to humans or pets.I have created a toy concept called iio.

This master thesis examines the development of the two earlier independent IR protocols Z39.50 and SR (Search and Retrieve, ISO 10162/10163), now Z39.50/SR, from the beginning of the 80s to 1996 and their functionality in the client/server environment.Z39.50 applications in library systems will allow easy access to information regardless of platform or location. The use of Z39.50 will create a new user environment. Almost all the library systems of the market support the Z39.50 and surprisingly the use of it in Sweden lied on a very low leve! in 1996. This thesis was followed-up by an interview and a questioner among the Swedish Z39.50 users. They could see a huge potential of development concerning the future IR process.

This essay is a study that takes interest in technical and technological change essential to philosophy of science. What is shown is the importance of an active attitude towards this change, by the articulation of the question: Does technical development lead to new ontological questions for science? - and by the answer that such questions do appear.It is clear that passive assumptions in this matter might prohibit science in the proceeding search for truth.By examples of ways in which technical development helps and challenges science, it is concluded that scrutiny of the relationship between technical development and ontological suppositions and hypotheses within science is well motivated..

The aim of this thesis is to model my artistic practice on an adaptation of Joseph Campbells monomyth and, using this model, investigate challenges of performativity in art (in public spaces). The overall themes are personal, aesthetic and ethical sovereignty and an uncompromising search for a deepening of the artistic practice. More than anything else it is a map and a story of an artist?s expansion out into an artistic field that is little developed in Sweden. It is my hope that this thesis, by using a thoroughly subjective tone, will contribute to the milieu of performative arts in Sweden as well as widen the ?how? regarding the making of a written thesis..

Med tanke på att smarttelefoner ökar bland studenter kan studietiden underlättas med hjälp av en applikation som samlar den viktigaste informationen från de mest använda webbsidorna på ett ställe. Målet med ChalmersAppen var att den skulle utföra denna uppgift och vara användarvänlig.Som underlag till framtagandet av applikationen genomfördes en enkätundersökning bland studenterna. Undersökningen visade att det fanns intresse för en sådan applikation och vilka funktioner som var viktigast att ha med.

I have noticed that both librarians and teachers do not know what perspective to apply with regard to this category of books. There are some good ones, but also a lot of bad ones and some really bad ones. The purpose of this essay is to search by means of criteria from history of art, history of literature ? principally history of children's literature ? and pedagogy, for prevalent attitudes towards non-fiction for children.

Användandet av mobiltelefoner har blivit en del av vår vardag i dagens samhälle. Mobiltelefonindustrin är en miljard industri med stora företag som Motorola, Nokia och Sony Eriksson. De senaste åren har det även kommit in nya aktörer på marknaden som Apple med sin iPhone och Google med sitt mobiltelefons?operativsystem Android. Dessa aktörer har kommit ut med flera nya mobiltelefonmodeller som använder sig ut av pekskärmar.

Syftet med undersökningen är att arbeta fram en modell för hur företag bör arbeta innan, under och efter en kris för att bevara sitt varumärke. Studien baseras på en kvalitativ undersökning där primärdata insamlats via intervjuer med sex experter inom området kriskommunikation. Ett abduktivt tillvägagångssätt har används då fokus växlat mellan empiri och teori, men där största fokus legat på empirin. Teorin har insamlats via litteraturstudie där vetenskapliga artiklar hämtats från olika databaser, såsom google scholar och ABI/inform. Slutsatsen genererar i ett verktyg i form av en modell som ger riktlinjer på hur företag kan arbeta innan en kris för att förebygga och förbereda. Den visar även på hur företag arbetar under en kris för att minimera skadan av den samt hur de på bästa sätt kan återhämta sig från den.

The codling moth, Cydia pomonella is a common pest in apple orchards and can be found worldwide. Feeding by codling moth larvae can cause a substantial decrease in apple yield. Control methods comprise for example the use of pesticides, viruses and pheromones. As a sustainable control method, pheromones have been successfully applied to disrupt moth mating behaviour. Other behaviours like foraging, search for mating sites or host finding could be potential targets for additional odour-mediated behavioural manipulation but need further investigations of the underlying odour stimuli and behavioural plasticity. Many insects are attracted to the smell of fermenting fruit and associated microorganisms.
