In this thesis I have decided to take a closer look into my own ?backyard?. A river that runs through my hometown, Akureyri, has been a thorn in some people?s side. Glerá river has taken lives but it has also given the town possibilities to develop.

This essay deals with a picture-stone that was found in a pre Christian grave during the archaeological excavations of the Viking Age harbour and trading place at Fröjel parish, Gotland, in 1999. The stone is at least 100 years older then the male grave in which it was found. The picture-stone can be dated to  late 8th century or early 9th century, and the grave is probably from the late 10th century. One of the main questions in this essay is why the people of that time re-used an older picture-stone in a younger burial. I believe that the stone was reused as a grave-Gift.

This paper interprets the myth of the hymen through the archetypal theory of Carl Gustav Jung. Today it has been proven that there exists no hymen that breaks at a woman?s first intercourse. Nonetheless, the myth of the hymen lives on ? creating enormous consequences for girls and women.

The following is an examination of work and gender and how they interlocked in a Swedishbrewery between 1923 and 1939. Leaning on labor process theory and Marxist feminist theory,this paper examines what constituted women?s work in the brewery industry in this era, how women?s work changed with rationalization and economic recess, and how the all-femaleunion locale reacted to these changes. The events portrayed are related to earlier research ongender on the labor process, to the history of the Swedish labor movement in large, and to theevolution of the so-called ?Swedish model? with its relatively low level of conflicts on thelabor market.

Children's language development is highly connected to the success of every school. Especially when it comes to the children learning reading and writing skills, regardless of what method the schools use in order to achieve this. An early intervention can facilitate the learning of reading comprehension. Reading aloud and playing with the language learning is the greatest Gift we can give our children and students. Children learn how to use a book by turning the pages and see how the words and texts are structured.

Syftet med arbetet är att förstå varför människor i dagens samhälle väljer att Gifta sig. Vad är skälen för Giftermål när man i dagens Sverige kan bo i ett samboförhållande utan att vara Gift. Är kärleken viktigast eller finns det andra aspekter som påverkar människor när de väljer att ingå ett äktenskap? Huvudtanken med arbetet är att förstå människor som ingår äktenskap och varför de gör det, samtidigt vill vi förstå de som bor i ett samboförhållande och varför de inte Gifter sig. För att förstå detta har vi valt att utgå från kvalitativ metod.

The purpose of this essay was to examine what consequenses of alcohol and narcotics that youth magazines describe and how the user and addict is described. My porpose was also to examine what situations the magazines claim that alcohol and narcotics are related to.The questions for my studie was:1. How is an alcoholic/drug addict /user described in youth magazines?2. What situations are related to alcohol/narcotics in youth magazines?3.

The supermarkets are taking more and more market shares for potted plants the last years, and a greater part is bought without prior planning. Signals from several European countries, for example Denmark and UK, indicate that potted plants with added value have become more and more popular and the added value is based on present trends. The meaning of added value in this thesis is fancy pots, packaging, pins or arrangements. Potted plants with added value sold in supermarkets offer the consumer the advantage of getting a ?ready product? quick and easy.

This thesis examines the concept of righteousness in the Gospel of Matthew. The research explores the literal meanings and theological functions of the noun ?righteousness? and the adjective ?righteous? through a descriptiveand comparative study of all the pericopes which include these words. The research also includes relevant information about the historical context of the text as well as the central theological themes which relate to the subject.In the research on the literal meanings, it seems that both words primarily occur in ethical teaching and that the concept of righteousness in Matthew is closely related to humanconduct (e.g. Matt 5:20; 6:1).

Swedish family companies are facing a tremendous change in the form of generation changes because of the large part of owners that are about to retire. If all 45 000 to 50 000 family companies ceases to exist, Sweden looses a significant part of business trade.There are numbers of different methods for an older generation of owners to transfer their companies to a younger generation such as inheritance, Gift, will, internal stock transfer, division?s etc., where inheritance is the most complex area. That an owner of a company dies without any plan for the future of the company is not preferable because the rules of legal successions occur. The law system regarding inheritance is usually not a good method since the surviving wife, who has the primary right to the inheritance, may not be interested in the company.

Begging as a phenomenon has again become a hot topic of debate both in the public and the media. Actions have been discussed and motions have been given to social authorities in the country. During the last two years people from other parts of Europe who engage in street begging have been seen on the streets of Kristianstad.The purpose of this paper is to find out the individuals, certain authorities and other participants experiences of people begging in public places in Kristianstad. We have used a combination of qualitative, quantitative and literature review method and we have a social constructionist perspective as a basis. The participants and authorities we have included in the study are the police, the social services, security guards, a shop owner and two other assistance agencies.

Den här uppsatsen undersöker hur deltagandet i personalutbildning är fördelat över olika grupper av sysselsatta på den svenska arbetsmarknaden. Också mängden utbildningstid för olika arbetstagare undersöks. Syftet är att testa i vilken utsträckning humankapitalteorins prediktioner om vilka som i första hand får personalutbildning stämmer överens med den faktiska situationen på svenska arbetsplatser. Som komplement till humankapitalteorin används en teori med ofullständig konkurrens samt tidigare studier om personalutbildning. För att testa humankapitalteorins antaganden om personalutbildning används aggregerad data från Statistiska Centralbyrån för olika år.

 Through teaching, pupils are given the opportunity based on their personal experiences and current events to express and consider their views in relation to others who hold different views. As a result, pupils should be encouraged to get involved and participate in an open exchange of views on societal issues (Skolverket, 2011d, s. 189). To assess pupils orally in the subject of civics in primary education is an unexplored field, which makes this field relevant to explore. There are numerous researchers? who with the help of deliberative methods, formative feedback, formative assessment and studies regarding classroom climates whom all speak positive about using discussion/dialogue in education to upraise and develop learning among pupils.

Bristen pa? fo?rslag till undervisning och fo?rebyggande a?tga?rder ro?rande sa?rskrivning a?r vad som har motiverat denna studie.

Arbetets centrala frågeställning är varför människor i Sverige idag fortfarande väljer att Gifta sig, trots att de lever i ett samhälle där samboförhållanden är så accepterade, samt vilka eventuella skillnader det finns mellan män och kvinnor i denna fråga. Frågan undersöks med hjälp av två kvalitativa metoder. Dels genom en observation av ett Internetbaserat diskussionsforum med bröllopsinriktning, och dels genom intervjuer med två par som nyligen Gift sig. Undersökningarna inriktade sig på dels människornas känslor, tankar och åsikter om bröllop och äktenskap, men också hur de själva valt att utforma sitt bröllop. Resultaten av undersökningen visar att ett bröllop kan ha väldigt många funktioner samtidigt, och att brudparen utformar sitt bröllop efter vilka vinster de eftersöker.
