The aim of this study is to examine how ADHD is discussed in the Swedish mass media. We have examined 21 articles from Aftonbladet, Expressen, Dagens Nyheter, Göteborgs-Posten and Svenska Dagbladet. All articles are reviewed from the newspapers online edition.Theories used are Erving Goffman?s theory of Stigma and Michael Foucault´s theory of categorization as well as Göran Palm's, Renée Skogersson's and Anders R. Olsson's theories about mass media.

Kriminalvårdens vision är att de intagna ska få verktyg att klara av livet utanför murarna, utan kriminalitet och missbruk och deras motto är "Bättre ut". Med denna c-uppsats ville vi undersöka personalens inställningar på kriminalvården (på behandlingsanstalt och frivården) kring påverkande faktorer mot att minska eller motverka återfallsförbrytare, samt om det fanns någon skillnad mellan dessa personalgrupper. I studien medverkade åtta individer från kriminalvården och datamaterialet samlades in via intervjuer. Den teoretiska förankringen bygger på teorier från Foucault, Mathiesen och Goffman. Studien utgår från en kvalitativ metod med en hermeneutisk forskningstradition, vilket har givit möjligheten att använda förförståelsen i tolkningsprocessen.

Syftet med denna uppsats är att med hjälp av diskursanalys granska hur makt, motstånd och identiteter skildras i de seriösa serieböckerna Persepolis av Marjane Satrapi, An Arab in America av Toufic El Rassi samt Maus av Art Spiegelman, som alla på ett eller annat sätt handlar om migration. Jag använder teorier som Michel Foucault och Chandra Talpade Mohanty har lagt fram och också litteratur om diskursanalys. Syftet är även att studera synen på serier som berättandeform. Jag diskuterar målgrupper för serieberättelser och huruvida serier håller på att ta sig in i "finkulturen". Där använder jag bland annat Ernesto Laclau och Chantal Mouffes teorier om diskursers kamp med varandra om makt och hegemoni.

The purpose of this essay is to examine whether and how labor consultants, job coaches, guidance counselors promote the possibility of self-realization of the clients they encounter in their work. By analyzing, based on the theoretical framework, six semi-structured interviews of people having the chosen professions answer the questions "Do counselors promote client's opportunities for self-realization in their work?" and "If so: how is this practiced?". In the theoretical framework three important concepts are addressed: "identity", "recognition" and "self-realization". These are explained with the help of works by including Emma Engdahl, Anthony Giddens, Axel Honneth and Allison Weir.

The aim of this study was to, with a social constructivistic approach, examine how parents,regarded as neglecting their children, are depicted in 12 LVU-legal cases from the Supreme Administrative Court in Sweden. By using a document analysis influenced by discourse analytical tools, we found that there are repeated descriptions of the parents, which constructs an image of parents as shortcoming in the care of their children. The categories lack of emotions, mental disorder, substance abuse and physical maltreatment were the main reasons for child neglect that the parents were described from. Attitudes towards authority, aggression and immaturity, lack of insight, and deficiencies in the home were repeated in the description of the parent. We further found that mothers were regarded as more responsible of the children compared to fathers.

The purpose of this essay is to illustrate how the position of power / exercise of power are perceived in today's schools from the teacher's perspective. I have examined how students' freedom and democracy education interpreted in real life, and how this affects both teacher and student learning approaches. I would also highlight the need to set standards for children's psychological development related to the consequences will be. I have chosen to perform a qualitative research through individual interviews with five participating teachers from different experiences in different type of school. I have used the hermeneutic method of analysis to analyze the material.

This masters thesis aims to explore the branch libraries in Kalmar municipality and their relation to the Information and communication technology ICTsociety. How do they adapt to and assimilate with, the ICT-society? What are their roles in local social networks and do they make a difference there? To answer these questions, critical discourse analysis, CDA, as founded by Norman Fairclough is applied to four interwievs with branch library managers. Other theorists used are Michel Foucault, Chaïm Perelman and Ludwig Wittgenstein. A solid description of todays society on different levels is also given.

This thesis examines the way that subversivity is produced in relation to the name of the author, as understood by Foucault, and what potential for ressistance that can be glimpsed there. Syftet med denna uppsats är att belysa och analysera hur nationella prov för åk 3 framställs och legitimeras i den offentliga debatten samt i en skolkontext. Jag vill vidare problematisera hur kunskap produceras och makt utövas på en mer generell nivå i skolan. Materialet till denna studie består av skriftliga källor så som forskningsrapporter och tidningsartiklar, kvalitativa intervjuer med lärare samt en observation och ett samtal med elever i åk 3. Materialet granskas med hjälp av genealogi och Michel Foucaults teorier kring makt, disciplinering och normalitet. I den offentliga debatten finns ett gemensamt förgivet tagande att proven på olika sätt kan förbättra skolan.

Detta är en studie vars syfte är att undersöka vilka attityder ett urval aerobicstränande kvinnor har till sin egen träning samt att utforska vilken femininitet de konstruerar genom och i sin träning. Studien har sin grund i sex kvalitativa intervjuer med frekvent aerobicstränande kvinnor. De teoretiska utgångspunkterna har utgått ifrån de starkast lysande teman som framgått i kvinnornas berättelser, vilka är femininitet, normalitet och disciplinering. Teoretiker som används är Judith Butler, Michel Foucault och Beverly Skeggs. Studiens analys visar att det finns en överbyggande disciplineringsgrund när det kommer till syn på kropp och träning.

Syfte: Syftet med denna studie är att skapa ökad förståelse för medias roll i förmedlingen av begreppet CSR, corporate social responsibility. Med media menas i studien svensk papperstidning.Metod: Diskursanalys kring CSR i svensk tryckpress, inspirerad av Michael Foucault och Norman Fairclough, applicerad på nyhetsartiklar. I studien används ordet diskurs som en förklaring till att nyhetstexter påverkar den sociala verkligheten. CSR innebär företags sociala ansvar, kring frågor om bland annat miljö, som går utöver vad lagen kräver.Slutsatser: Analysresultatet visar att CSR i nästintill samtliga artiklar benämns synonymt med samhällsansvar, som alltså varit det mest dominerande området som behandlats i de artiklar som har analyserats. Det framkommer även att det finns skillnader i artiklarnas intertextualitet, beroende på vilken tidning de tillhör.

Questions about discipline have always been current within the Swedish school system, from the sixteenth century until today. The purpose of this study is to compare the discipline in two old-time elementary schools, located on Gotland, with each other.This study will compare an old-time elementary school from the countryside with an old-time elementary school from a town to show the differences in discipline between the coun-tryside and a town. This study will also focus on how questions about discipline changes from 1847 to 1937/1941. In order to do so I have studied the regulations from the two schools and compared them with each other. When I discuss discipline I will use Michel Foucault?s theory concerning the development of power and discipline in modern society.My study shows that it did not differ much in questions of discipline between the two ex-amined old-time elementary schools.

Syfte med arbetet är att studera texterna som styr skolan, specifiktförändringen av begreppet elev. Studien fokuserar på eleven i tre styrdokument, SOU1992:94, Lpf 94 och en kommunal skolplan. Metoden som används är textanalys med tvåinriktningar, innehållsanalys och diskursanalys.

With this study we are exploring a phenomenon, called Jantelagen, which have affected the Swedish society for a long time. It is a phenomenon that where brought to life officially in the 1930?s by an author called Aksel Sandemose. We want to know if Jantelagen still exist in the society or if it has faded to the degree that it is no longer in use.
