Driving simulators are a very important part of the research that is done at VTI. Enhancing the realism and creating a better driving experience in the simulators are very important and an ongoing work process for the engineers and researchers who work with the simulators. This project has been done as a part of this developing process and the purpose is to enhance the realism of the rear-view mirrors.Simulating realistic rear-view mirrors has been demanded, not only from the researchers at VTI, but also from car and truck manufacturers. To achieve a realistic mirror view a method to measure and parameterize real mirrors has been developed. The code for the existing graphics system has also been redone to be able to handle the new types of mirrors introduced..

The paper contains comment, clarification and criticism, even constructive criticism, of some theses that have been put forward by Laurence Bonjour in his In Defense of Pure Reason.It presents a concept of experience that deals with the relation between cognizer and object of experience that has a great similarity to that of Bonjour. Through analysis it is shown that the concept of a priori entails that Bonjour has two concepts of a priori, a narrow and a broad one. The narrow one is, in my own words: According to moderate rationalism a proposition p is a priori justified if and only if you apprehend that p must be true in every possible world. This doesn?t mean that Bonjour doesn?t believe in an epistemological, metaphysical and semantic realm.

During the last decade, there has been an increase in the use of technology-based self-services within the retail sector. The increase is particularly noticeable within the grocery market. The reason behind the increased use of these systems is partially due to the fact that companies within highly competitive retail markets continually look for ways of decreasing costs while upholding efficiency. The problem is that it is difficult to understand the true economical implications of investments relating to these machines. The purpose of this study is to investigate and contribute with new insights regarding the cost-structures of the stationary self-checkout systems and traditional cashier desks, within the retail grocery market.

The aim of this study was to determine the basic movements of the riders? pelvis and upper body when riding in trot seated. The study was preformed at a treadmill with seven high level dressage horses and their riders. The movements of the horse and rider were captured with a motion analysis system (ProReflex®) and also recorded on video. The horses were ridden in collected trot, 3.0 m/s.

Det här arbetet har främst koncentrerat sig på att utveckla kunskapen om vad det vidgade textbegreppet innebär samt att undersöka begreppets innebörd i kursplaner och läromedel för Engelska A. Därtill har det syftat till att belysa hur det vidgade textbegreppet förhåller sig till en kommunikativ språksyn. För att komma ifrån de problem som begreppet ?ett vidgat textbegrepp? skapar har här använts ett nytt uttryck, ?kommunikativa uttryck? eftersom det på ett bra sätt fångar upp det man vill uppnå med det vidgade textbegreppet. Metoden som har använts för detta har varit att jämföra de tre första kapitlen i vart och ett av läromedlen, Straight Forward English 5(Harling et al, 2006), Blueprint A version 2.0(Lundfall et al, 2008) samt Core English 1 (Gustafsson et al, 2008). Materialet har jämförts ur två aspekter; dels vilka typer av kommunikationsuttryck som förekommer i texterna, dels vilka instruktioner som har återfunnits i läromedlen och lärarhandledningarna för att bearbeta de olika kommunikationsuttrycken. Arbetet har kommit fram till två viktiga slutsatser. Den första slutsatsen är att många olika kommunikationsuttryck finns representerade i de tre första kapitlen i läromedlen Straight Forward English 5 (Harling et al, 2006), Blueprint A version 2.0 (Lundfall et al, 2008) och Core English 1(Gustafsson et al, 2008). Dock är de övningar som finns med för att bearbeta dessa kommunikationsuttryck i första hand där för att fördjupa elevernas förståelse av texterna.

Forskare har under de senaste decennierna försökt finna förklaringar kring den finansiella gåta, känd som the forward premium puzzel, som har visat sig på valutamarknaden. Denna finansiella gåta har skapats då forskare sett statistiska avvikelserna från det öppna ränteparitetet (UIP) på valutamarknaden. UIP förutsätter att det inte ska finnas någon skillnad i avkastning mellan att hålla kapital i olika valutor, vilket empiriskt har visat sig inte stämmer. Detta misslyckande har tagits som bevis för att valutamarknaden är ineffektiv och att valutaspekulerare kan erhålla en överavkastning. Syftet med studien har varit att genom ett lönsamhetstest, med SEK som grundvaluta, undersöka huruvida valutamarknaden har varit effektiv under åren 1997-2012.Studien utgår från en deduktiv forskningsansats där den teoretiska grunden utgörs av den effektiva marknadshypotesen. Den kvantitativa forskningsmetoden bygger på uppgifter från Datastream om valutors utveckling mellan åren 1997-2012.Vår regression visade på att tio utav tolv valutapar återspeglade the forward premium puzzel.

The aim of this final thesis is to make it easier for the customer of a new designed house to get a picture of what the house will look like inside before it has been built.A method, which can be applied by any construction company who likes to visualize there buildings, has been designed and tested. One works after a regular design planning which is transformed into a three dimensional model of the house. In a rendering program, materials and surfaces are chosen for the model and then a picture of the finished product is made. The programs used for this work are ADT 2006 and VIZ Render.To evaluate the use of this method I?ve chosen to cooperate with LB-Hus which is a housing company that is specialized in building detached houses.

This thesis has been carried out in collaboration with the IT Company MPQ consulting AB in Halmstad. The task we were assigned by MPQ concerned the development of a scooter that can be used year round. We have with the companydeveloped the criteria and requirements for the product in which the goal is toproduce a primary solution that meets the set criteria and fall within the project'sboundaries.The project involves a wide range of different design methods for idea generationand idea development. The project also addresses engineering methods such asprinciple and primary engineering. In the essay the author examines how pilgrimage can be used as a tool to radicalise democracy in a late modern society marked by neoliberalism. Applying a dialectic perspective on social movements the essay puts forward how the pilgrimage movement Pilgrim?s Walk for Future, administrated by Church of Sweden, is working in line with the historical pilgrimage theology - a modern critical ecclesiology- to mobilise political action to prevent climate change. The result of the study shows how PWFF meet the neoliberal hegemony with a mobilisation of alternative values beyond the order of capitalism, in line with Christian theology and tradition. The mobilisation is made possible by new forms of identifications with oneself and the social world that meet a modern power/knowledge- regime based on rational thought, and which questions norms and practises by paying attention to their negative effects on nature and on human life in general.

Den övergripande frågeställningen var; hur får man i en bild, information omrummet och dess rymd?Metoder vi använde oss av för att nå vårt mål var litteraturstudier, enkätundersökningoch utprovningar.

This paper aims to analyze how child restraint systems (CRS) in cars should be positioned to protect children at the ages 1 to 5. The study is preformed in co-operation with the Swedish insurance company Folksam. Data from Folksam´s database on car crashes in the years 1999-2004 is being used in this study. Every child in the ages 1 to 5 was searched for in the database, which resulted in 184 observations. To perform the analysis, categorical data analysis is suitable.

The arguments put forward in support of how stages are organised have been studied, likewise whether municipalities have acted rationally when making their decisions.Six municipalities are included in the survey. They were divided into three educational categories: lower, middle and high level schools; previous and recent schools and F9 schools with pre-schools and primary schools integrated.Minutes from politicians' and civil servants' meetings have been studied and categorised according to arguments for and against. The most common supportive arguments are about economy and organisation, others concern school premises, trends and the wish for a comprehensive compulsory school.

However in computer graphics, there is always the limitation on the resolution of geometry and texture due to numerical imprecision.
