A lot of research has been done about how omitting breakfast affects adolescents and their short time cognition. Cognition is complex as a concept and is measured in different ways and the existing research in the area often compares different types of breakfasts instead of the difference between eating and omitting breakfast.Objective: To evaluate the scientific evidence for an association between adolescents? breakfast eating and short time effects on cognition in adolescents.Search strategy: To find relevant articles a systematic literature search was made in the databases PubMed, Scopus and Cochrane. Search terms that were used were: children, young adults, adolescents, cognition, and breakfastSelection criteria: Ages 12-20 years, measures cognition, RCT, studies comparing breakfast eating with omitting breakfast, human studies, language English or Swedish, no sick adolescents or adolescents with diagnosis.Data collection and analysis: Two original articles met the inclusion criteria and were reviewed by the SBU audit template for RCT studies.

Conducting research on allergy isproblematic since it has genetic, as well as enviromental, determinants.ObjectiveThis thesis attempts to conclude and evaluate research on a connection betweensupplementation of omega-3 during pregnancy and allergic outcomes in infants and children.Search strategyThe literature search was conducted in the databases PubMed and Scopus. Among thekeywords chosen were omega 3, supplement, pregnancy and allergy.Selection criteriaHuman RCT, that measured allergy, where the intervention consisted of supplementation withomega-3 for at least ten weeks during pregnancy and ceased at birth.Data collection and analysisThree articles were chosen for this thesis. The articles were examined using templates fromSBU and the quality of evidence was evaluated according to GRADE.Main resultsNone of the articles showed a protective effect on allergic outcome but in one of the studiesthere was significant reduction in eggallergy and another showed significant lower occurrenceof severe eczema.ConclusionsSupplementation with omega-3 during pregnancy does not occur to have an protective effecton allergic outcome in infants and childen but the evidence for this is considered to bemoderate.

Palpationsömhet i perifer nerv och känseltest med sporre på friska försökspersoner

Bakgrund: Smärtor i ben är vanligt förekommande och neuropati (nervskada) är en orsak som troligen är underdiagnostiserad. Bimanuell (tvåhändig/tvåsidig) nervpalpation och känseltest med sporre har visat sig vara ganska tillförlitliga och enkla test för att hitta nervskada men har inte testats på friska individer.Syfte: Syftet var att undersöka om bimanuell nervpalpation i fossa poplitea framkallar smärta/obehag och om det finns skillnad mellan vänster och höger sida vid bimanuell undersökning med sporre på underben hos friska försökspersoner.Metod: Ett bimanuellt palpationstest av nervi tibialis och peroneus i fossa poplitea och även ett bimanuellt känseltest med sporre över dermatomen L4, L5 och S1 på underben genomfördes. Urvalet var ändamålsenligt och totalt deltog 37 försökspersoner. Åldersspannet var 20 till 57 och medianålder 23.Resultat: Vid palpationstestet hade intensiteten av smärta/obehag en median på 1 (variationsvidd 3) på den 11 gradiga skalan. En stor del skattade olika mellan sidorna i både palpationstestet (11 av 37) och känseltestet med sporre (25 av 37).

Lärande med IUP. Formativa aspekter i lärares arbete med den individuella utvecklingsplanen med skriftliga omdömen

Syfte: Syftet med studien är att synliggöra lärandet och de formativa aspekter som sker kring arbetet med den individuella utvecklingsplanen med skriftliga omdömen i grundskolan tidiga år på några skolor. Vilka skillnader och likheter som finns i samtalen och i dokumentationen. Studien vill också undersöka hur det formativa arbetet med IUP med skriftliga omdömen set ut för elever i behov av särskilt stöd. Teori: Studiens ansats tar sin utgångspunkt i Meads sociologiska teori, symbolisk interaktionism, om hur vi människor blir till i möten med andra människor, genom att vi ser oss själva genom andra. För att studera lärandet kopplas ansatsen till det socio¬kulturella perspektivet där lärande ses som en språkliga och sociala interaktion mellan människor.

Elever och lärare på yrkesförberedande program - deras tankar kring undervisningsmetoder i samhällskunskapämnet : Students and teachers in vocational programmes - their thoughts regarding teaching methods in social sciences

In this examination project I look into what ways upper secondary school students conceive themselves as politically influenced before they voted for the general election of 2010. The purpose is to examine which influences the upper secondary school surroundings and the classes of civic education are contributing with to students before they voted. As a method, I have used personal, semi-structural interviews on eight upper secondary school students who all voted for a party represented in the parliament. I have asked questions about how they believe their parents, the surroundings of their school and the classes of civic education have influenced them. To separate which influences primarily the upper secondary school and the classes of civic educations have had on the students, I have selected two comparison groups of four students in each.

Kan evidensbaserad design användas i upprustningen av miljonprogrammet?

Between 1965 and 1975 a major housing project was carried out in Sweden to resolve a major housing crisis, the so-called one million housing program (Swedish: miljonprogrammet). To raise the standards and create a more attractive housing in these areas is currently a very relevant topic in Sweden.Evidence-based design is the process of basing decisions of the built environment on credible research and studies to achieve the best possible outcome. This method is primarily used in the healthcare sector to improve quality of care and reduce costs by creating healthy environments.The possibility of refurbish apartment buildings from miljonprogrammet using evidence-based design has been studied by means of an extensive literature review and a closer examination of the residential area, Husby in Stockholm, which has been chosen to represent the miljonprogrammet in its entirety. Furthermore, the evidence-based research has been limited to seven fields; nature, noise, color, wayfinding, safe environment, daylight and thermal comfort which has been assessed to be applicable on housing. In order to obtain a comprehensive overview of the different fields, four different subjects were chosen to investigate further within each field; research and studies, laws and regulations, constructional aspect and Husby.

AbstractThis report was undertaken at the request of the Management and maintenancedepartment of Swedish National Road Authority (Vägverket Region Sydöst) inJönköping.In 1992, the management and maintenance of Swedish roads were laid out onexternal contractors. When putting out a tender for the work, the foundation isfrom a national set of rules which are in constant change. This report is limited towinter road upkeep.The trend in the invitation for tenders is that it is moving from the moreconventional executional demands towards the less controlling demands. Thedownside of functional, less controlling demands is that it is difficult to articulatehow to measure them. The order authority therefore has to find ways to makesure to get what has been paid for.In connection to the invitation for tender of winter road upkeep for 2005, the newset of rules, ATB Vinter 2003 was deployed.The main purpose of this thesis is to see which the big changes in the set of rulesare and how these changes affect the organisation and activities of the contractor.It is also studied how the changes in execution is perceived by road users and howit affects the possibilities of the contractor to come as a newcomer to a new areaof administration.Interviews and examination of sets of rules has led to a list of a number ofchanges that the contractors feel affect their work in any sense.Views from road users that have come in to the order authority have beenscrutinized to see how they have experienced the change.

Naturvetenskaplig undervisning med en dator per elev: möjligheter och utmaningar utifrån lärarnas perspektiv

Trots intensiva satsningar på skolans digitalisering visar forskningen att den inte leder automatiskt till förbättrat lärande och kunskapsutveckling hos eleverna. Syftet med examensarbetet var att undersöka pedagogernas syn på frågan hur IT och 1:1 kontexten kan utnyttjas för att främja elevers lärande i naturvetenskaplig undervisning. Empirin omfattar djupintervjuer med fyra lärare som undervisar i biologi, kemi eller NO. Syftet var att få insikt i lärarnas funderingar och sätt att använda IT och 1:1 kontexten för att stötta elevers lärande och det pedagogiska arbetet. Dessutom gjordes en enkätstudie bland åtta lärarstudenter för att ta reda på deras uppfattningar om 1:1 kontextens användning och effekt vid observerade naturvetenskapliga lektioner. Det empiriska materialet analyseras utifrån utvalda teoretiska utgångspunkterna som omfattar teorier av Vygotskij och Dewey kring sociokonstruktivistiskt lärande respektive inquiry-based learning samt Mishra och Koehlers TPACK modell. Kopplingar görs också till aktuell evidensbaserad pedagogisk forskning kring IT-stödd lärandet som beskrivs i forskningsöversikten. Arbetets resultat visar på konkreta exemplen på hur IT och 1:1 kontexten kan utnyttjas för att främja elevers lärande, t.ex.

Kartläggning av likvärdighet i bedömning vid examination för Säker Skogs motorsågskörkort

SammanfattningBåde Läroplanen för förskolan (Lpfö98/2010) och den forskning vi i vår studie tagit del av framhäver vikten av barns inflytande i förskolan. Bland annat poängterar filosofen och pragmatikern John Dewey (1916/1999) att vägen till ett demokratiskt samhälle bör starta med de yngre barnen, och att de genom miljön ska få erfara allas lika värde. Vi har genomfört en kvalitativ studie på två förskolor, empirin omfattar både intervjuer och observationer. Förskollärarna vi intervjuat har mellan 12 till 34 års pedagogisk erfarenhet, och vår ambition har varit att undersöka pedagogernas uppfattningar om barns inflytande i förskolan, samt hur de tar till vara på och uppmuntrar barnen till att vilja och kunna ha inflytande. I vår teoridel har vi lagt fokus på kommunikation och vuxnas barnsyn som betydelsefulla aspekter för barns möjligheter till inflytande i förskolan. Resultatet av vår studie visar att det till största delen är i den fria leken som barns inflytande kommer till uttryck.

This will be done partly by an examination of how the participants themselvesperceive citizendialogue. Their descriptions are put in relation to deliberative democracy and its critics amongst other. Partly by study how those involved have choosen to put it into practice. The opponents of the reorganization chose to start a non-profit association, Rasbo in co-operation, to carry on local mobilization and it will be compared with other similar groups.

Bolån : förändringar efter finanskrisen i de svenska bankerna

Hur de första åren i läraryrket gestaltar sig har betydande påverkan för skapandet av den egna yrkesidentiteten och de vägval som nya lärare gör. En av de utmaningar som nya lärare möter är arbetet med bedömning, något som är centralt i lärares yrkesutövande. I grundskolans tidigare år har man haft en tradition att koncentrera den formella, till föräldrar kommuni-cerade bedömningen till kärnämnena matematik och svenska. Ofta med motiveringen att man behöver färdigheter i dessa ämnen för att kunna tillgodogöra sig andra ämnen. Bedömning i övriga ämnen, exempelvis musik, har varit informell, outtalad.

This paper aims to describe the geographical changes of Swedish international aid politics since 2007, which was the year the new aid reform of decreasing collaborating countries, came up. To decrease the number of aid receiving countries due to efficiency is not a new idea within Swedish aid politics, but Sweden received criticism from the (DAC) Development Assistance Committee, saying Sweden was active in too many countries, and the government established a policy to decrease the amount of countries given aid. Despite the government?s recent work, science has shown on a failed country focusing. This is followed up in the paper trough examination of statistics to measure the extent of the reduction.

System, stabilitet och makt - informationsdiskursen i Organizing Knowledge

TitleSystems, Stability and Power. The Discourse of Information in Organizing Knowledge.AbstractThe aim of this Master's thesis is to inquire into the consequences of an unequal distribution of power between information discourses in the field of knowledge organisation. A deconstruction of Jennifer Rowley's and John Farrows introductory textbook Organizing Knowledge from 2000 is related to the major discourses of information in LIS. Questions posed in this study are: What meaning is ascribed to information in the material studied? Which information discourses are given a dominant position? Which are excluded? and: How does this affect the construction of the library and information science student's identity, in relation to practices of knowledge organisation? The theoretical framework is provided by Ernesto Laclau's and Chantal Mouffe's theory of discourse and combined with techniques for text analysis originating from the work of Norman Fairclough.The analysis reveals a strong domination of a cognitive discourse of information that underlines the importance of information systems for the organisation of knowledge.

Effektivisering av energianvändningen i en förskola

This rapport contains an examination of the energy consumption of a kindergarten, which areas that have the largest impact on the energy consumption and what can be done to reduce those areas in ways that are relatively easy and profitable. It is also analyzed if it is possible to reduce the energy consumption from today?s consumption to a consumption that fulfils the demands placed on low energy houses by FEBY.The focus has been on reducing the energy consumption of the areas ventilation, heating system and hot water system, since those seemed to be the easiest ones to affect and since the building is quite recently built.There are different kinds of ventilation systems, at the moment the building have a CAV-system, which means that the ventilation is too high during large parts of the day. There are different ways to manage the ventilation system, for example presence detection, humidity sensors, CO2 sensors, temperature sensors and season adjustment. Many of those are in the end dependent on CO2 sensors to guarantee a good indoor climate, therefore the focus have been placed on this system.
