This thesis intends to examine the role of the city, Dublin, in the Irish economic growth during the 1990s. It is a case study where Dublin is compared with current theories on post modern cities as growth machines and increasingly prominent actors in the global context. The study has an interdisciplinary approach but focuses on political science issues such as power distribution, global-local governance and local political organisation. It is a theory driven study that also intends to add aspects to the understanding of the cities of our time. I argue that Dublin has faced a lot of changes during the last decades in accordance with the post modern city.

Syftet med undersökningen var att utföra en kartläggning över hur riksdagspolitiker använder bloggverktyget, främst ur ett språkligt perspektiv, för att fastställa om de publicerade texterna är lika komplexa, skriftspråkliga, opersonliga och abstrakta som konventionellt politiskt skriftspråk. Ett ytterligare syfte var att granska de politiska riksdagsbloggarna utifrån partitillhörighet och könstillhörighet i förhållande till hur blogginläggen blev mottagna i läsarkommentarerna. I undersökningen användes en kvantitativ metod för att undersöka 7 riksdagsmotioner, 79 riksdagsbloggar och 402 läsarkommentarer. Den teoretiska förankringen vilar på den kritiska textanalysen och Bourdieus tankar om maktförhållanden i samhället.Resultatet visar att även i de fall där blogginläggen hamnade nära riksdagsmotionerna i frågan om textuell komplexitet och skriftspråklighet var de utformade mindre abstrakt och betydligt mer personligt än vad riksdagsmotionerna var.Resultatet visar även att det föreligger stora skillnader mellan de olika riksdagspartierna i hur blogginläggen mottas både utifrån ett perspektiv som beaktar partitillhörighet och i fråga om könstillhörighet. De socialdemokratiska riksdagsledamöterna fick över 40 % av samtliga kommentarer.

The aim of this study is to widen our knowledge about the basic idea about having an open preschool for adopted children as understood by parents of adopted children and a preschool teacher. Sweden has a large number of international adoptions, in an international comparison among the highest numbers of adoptions per capita. Interviews were carried out with seven adoptive parents and one preschool teacher teaching at a special preschool for adopted children. It was found that adoptive parents had no particular problems with placing their children in an "ordinary" preschool. However, they choose to place the children in an open preschool solely for adopted children because of the possibility of sharing similar experiences as parents and children as well.

The purpose of this essay was to investigate whether speakers of different languages find different things difficult when learning Swedish. The results showed that the first language was not the only aspect that mattered when it comes to what difficulties the learners face. Also individual differences and the level the learner has reached in the language are important to consider. However, some differences between the groups investigated surfaced and this shows that the first language can infact effect what difficulties the learners will encounter.   .

The purpose with this study is to investigate how the two biggest political parties, the Social Democrats and the Moderate/Conservative Party, looks at a membership in the defense alliance North Atlantic Treaty Organization. The question have the illegal annexation of Crimea affected how the parties look at a membership in Nato will be answered and analyzed. How they discuss, how they believe that a membership can affect the Swedish foreign policy will be examined in this paper. Nato is a topic that during the last century?s have divided the Swedish population into two groups: one that advocates a membership and one that fight?s against a Swedish membership in the alliance. There are two species of potato cyst nematode (PCN), the yellow, Globodera rostochiensis, and the white, Globodera pallida. Each of them can appear in different pathotypes. These are separated by testing the nematode ability to multiply on a number of potato cultivars with different resistance properties. The aim of this project was to examine the virulence of Swedish and foreign PCN populations and to compare two test methods. Biotests are today the only available tests used to study virulence.

Syftet med denna uppsats var att undersöka om det fanns någon skillnad mellan populärlitteratur och den litteratur som anses vara exklusiv. För att få svar på detta genomfördes en språklig analys av fyra böcker. Tre av böckerna anses vara populärlitterära medan den fjärde anses vara exklusiv.Den språkliga analysen innehöll tre huvuddelar: en textuell analys, en ideationell analys samt en stilanalys, detta för att få en så bra översikt samt bred infallsvinkel som möjligt. Efter den språkliga analysen jämförde jag böckerna som anses vara populärlitterära med den som anses vara exklusiv, för att se om det fanns någon skillnad de olika litterära klassificeringarna emellan.Den språkliga analysen visade att det inte fanns någon direkt språklig skillnad mellan de böcker som anses vara populärlitterära och den som anses vara exklusiv. Inte heller mellan de populärlitterära böckerna fanns det någon direkt skillnad.

Hotel and restaurant industry have always been seen as an industry with low status and poorworking conditions. Low wages, temporary contracts, illegal work, and sexual harassment are the rule rather than the exception when the employee?s working conditions discusses. By using the right dogmatic approach together with a social science perspective the purpose of the study has been answered. The purpose has been to contribute to a greater understanding of how it is that the hotel and restaurant industry?s poor working conditions can be maintained, the extent to which the working conditions of the employees is ensured and why mostly young people, women and people with foreign backgrounds are employed in the industry.

The aim of this thesis was to explore and analyze the sponsored debates on Newsmill, so called seminars. How does the sponsor use Newsmills seminars for marketing purposes? Who is allowed to write in Newsmills seminars?To answer these questions we used both a quantitative survey and a qualitative survey.To examine how the sponsors use Newsmills seminars for marketing purposes we conducted a qualitative analysis which included three of the eleven seminars - a total of 26 articles. We examined how the sponsors conveyed the picture of themselves and if the written content in Newsmills seminars contained any hidden marketing. We could see that the sponsor has a great deal of influence on the seminars and also used them to market their brand with hybrid messages.
