Åtskildheten : En lacansk läsning av Birgitta Trotzigs roman Sjukdomen
While almost 23 percent of the students in the Swedish upper secondary school are foreigners, only a fraction of the school libraries? collections consists of literature written in other languages than Swedish or English. This study examines how five school librarians experience the task of working with literature composed in foreign languages in the multicultural and multilingual school of today. The results of the qualitative interviews are analyzed in relation to the legislation and policy documents that the school libraries are working by, and also in relation to the theoretical framework of sociocultural theory and the theories on second language acquisition developed by linguist Jim Cummins.The study shows that while multilingualism is discussed as an important matter in the legislation and policy documents that the school libraries work by, the librarians in this study largely view the question of foreign literature as peripheral. Most part of the librarians connects first language reading to leisure-time activities rather than curricular activities, and stresses that the Swedish language should be prioritized in Swedish schools.

Tvetydigheten i damtidningar : Om hur en kvinna förväntas vara om tidningarna får bestämma
Detta är en undersökning av hur två tidningar som riktar sig till kvinnor konstruerar bilden av kvinnan. Analysen grundar sig på ett nummer av vardera tidningen (Femina Nr 9, september 2004 och amelia Nr 20, 16 september 2004) med fokus på ledarna och därtill en artikel som porträtterar en kvinna eller kvinnor. I Femina analyseras ledaren ?I kålrotens tecken? och artikeln om Marie Göranzon. I amelia analyseras ledaren ?Hjälp, ge mig stil!? och artikeln ?Skål för Elin, Elisabeth och Ada!?.Jag gör en textanalys av de utvalda texterna.
Teaching Writing in Theory and Practice : A Study of Ways of Working with Writing in the 9th Grade
The main purpose of this study is to take a closer look at how teachers work with writing and to examine some theories on the teaching of writing. Five teachers in two schools are included in order to get an insight in teachers? practical work with EFL writing. This has been done through classroom observations and interviews. The results show that all teachers seem to use aspects from several theories.

Vänner eller Fiender? - Förändringar i Thailands utrikespolitik gentemot Burma
This Master Thesis investigates changes in Thailand's foreign policy towards its neighbouring country Burma. It argues that Thai foreign policy towards Burma has experienced major changes during four periods between 1945 and the present. The thesis investigates these foreign policy changes during the four periods. What changes occurred? What were the reasons for the changes? What reasons dominated during what periods? The four periods of Thai foreign policy changes towards Burma and the common history of the two countries since their respective foundations does not suggest a stable peaceful relationship or a bitter hostile relationship leading to war.
Ämnen och dominans i ett samtal mellan terapeut och klient : En samtalsanalytisk jämförelse med läkar-patientsamtal
This thesis presents an analysis of a conversation between a therapist and her client. Through a study of the conversation's topics and structure I have been able to draw conclusions on how the therapist governs and steers the session. With the use of certain tools, such as introductions of topics, invitations, paraphrasing and explorative questions, the therapist presents the frames of the conversation. At the same time, though, she invites the client to state her point of view and correct the views imposed on her through, for example, formulations from the therapist. I in my study I have used the methods of Conversational Anlaysis (CA) com-bined with quantitative methods such as calculating the frequency of a phenomenon.Throughout the thesis I have compared my results with the results presented by Ulla Melander Marttala in her dissertation Content and perspective in doctor-patient conversa-tions.

This study is an attempt to shed light on the importance of fiction as a bridge between different cultures and traditions. The objective of this essay is threefold. First it explores the potentiality of fiction as a communication channel between different cultures, societies and social groups. Secondly, it studies the availability of foreign fiction in Swedish language. And thirdly it tries to approach and analyze the structures and mechanisms behind that availability.

Design som könsstruktur : samtal om genus, makt och mobiltelefoner
The main purpose with this study is to describe teachers? use of textbooks and other teaching materials in upper secondary school (gymnasiet) in Sweden, and to discuss the use according to school subject and teacher style. Data was collected in two different ways. At first twenty classroom observations were made during lectures concerning the subjects Swedish (mothertounge), English (foreign language) and religion. Then four open interviews were carried out with the teaching teachers.

This paper sets out to examine to what extent French grammar teaching contributes to the students? practical, oral skills. Are the students familiar with the grammatical system without knowing how to apply it orally in practice? The paper contains a theoretical background and an empirical survey. One quantitative and one qualitative method have been applied in the survey.
Ordföljdsvariationen mellan VSO och VOS i ett urval oceaniska språk
I denna uppsats behandlas ordföljdsvariationen mellan VSO och VOS i enkla satser i de oceaniska språken samoanska, tonganska och niueanska. En av dessa ordföljder är härledd (deriverad) ur den andra. Denna variation påminner om de syntaktiska fenomenen object shift(objektsflytt) och noun incorporation(nomen-inkorporering). Vid OS har objektet flyttat ur VP, vilket också har hänt i VSO-ordföljden, om denna är deriverad. Vid NI har objektet morfologiskt sammanfogats med verbet, men i vissa språk har objektet endast flyttat till positionen direkt efter verbet, utan att sammanlänkas med detta, vilket också har hänt i VOS-ordföljden, om denna är deriverad.Denna studie är baserad på litteratur som behandlar språk i vilka fenomenen OS eller NI tydligt förekommer, och på litteratur som behandlar oceaniska språk som uppvisar liknande syntaktiska drag.
Tempus och aspekt i pidginisering : En studie av sju pidginspråk och deras källspråk
It has been proposed that pidgin languages are similar in their marking of tense and aspect. This study wishes to answer three questions: 1) are there similarities in the marking of tense and aspect in pidgins, 2) are there similarities between the source languages and the pidgins they result in, and 3) does the development of tense aspect marking in pidgins follow the general patterns of grammaticalisation observed in other languages. Two quite different approaches are used to analyse the languages. Firstly the concept of grams is used, that is, a representation of a grammatical category in a specific language, e.g. the perfect in Swedish.
