It has become fairly common for a company to outsource one or several of its logistic activities to a party separate from the business of the company itself. Since the original agreement usually involves two parties, the seller and the buyer, the logistics company is called the third party. The relationship between the outsourcing company and the third party varies in form and in depth but can sometimes be very close, almost to be considered a joint venture. When the co-operation between the two parties includes more than just one separate logistic service and the third party adapts its business to a certain extent to his principals needs, it constitutes third party logistics. If the logistics company, or a party employed by it, becomes insolvent when having the entrusted goods in his possession questions may arise concerning the right to the property.

Purpose: Corporations today see a greater responsibility towards society regarding the environmental impact of their actions, using available transportation options that are more eco-friendly can reduce this impact significantly. Martinsen and Björklund (2012) identifies a set of gaps between supply and demand of green logistics services. This paper aims to address what it is that affects the demand for these alternative solutions and what could be done to increase the usage of them, thereby decreasing this gap.Design/methodology/approach: A quantitative study with six Logistics Service Providers (LSP) and 24 companies that purchase transportation services, all operating in Sweden. Data is collected through semi-structured telephone interviews with people responsible for the purchasing of transports as well as key account managers within the service providing companies.Findings: Just as the LSP?s interviewed in this paper thought, the main focus of the transport buying companies are the costs.

The economic development and competitiveness in Europe is heavily dependent on an efficient transport system. Movement of goods and people is essential for a competitive industry and successful trade. As a result of an intensified transport business, consumption of fossil fuels has increased dramatically. As a consequence, there are increased emissions of dangerous greenhouse gases. Transports are often mentioned as an area with high impact on the environment.

Polisen använder i stor utsträckning fordon som en del av sitt arbete. Fordonet är inte bara ett transportmedel, det är ett arbetsverktyg och inte minst en arbetsplats. Under övningar med utryckningsfordon upplevde vi det svårt att sitta bekvämt och ergonomiskt riktigt i de bilstolar som fordonen är utrustade med. Bilbältet stod även för ett problemområde i sig. Vi stötte på en potentiell säkerhetsrisk under våra empiriska försök vid Polisutbildningen i Umeå.

This thesis aims to find a more cost effective model for purchasing and logistics at asmall company. The studied company is a BMX (bicycle motocross) and MTB(mountain bike) retailer. The questions to be answered are: How large parties shouldbe ordered and what mode of transportation is to be used? A literature orientation ofthe field was followed by visits to the company, obtaining information from twodifferent logistics companies and interviews of four other companies in the sameindustry. The study shows that it´s difficult to develop an optimum order quantity fora small company since there often are other factors affecting how large amountshould be ordered.

Reverse logistics is getting more and more attention both from companies and the public. It is an area with the possibility for companies to do good in the eyes of the public. This work focus on the return system of a one-way handling material called the loading ledge. The loading ledge is developed by IKEA as a substitute for the EUR-pallet in transports from suppliers with a long distance and even flow and in transports from suppliers with short distance and uneven flow. The loading ledge is made out of 100 % recyclable plastic.The purpose of this work is to find the most efficient set-up for recycling of loading ledges within IKEA on a European level from a transport and handling point of view considering aspects like cost, environment, time and, from an administrative point of view, user-friendliness.Who will the participants of the set-up be, where will they be located, which transports are needed and which income and costs does the set-up generate, are questions that will be answered.

I takt med att utvecklingen i fordon går framåt i rasande fart finns risken att man med ökadutvecklingshastighet börjar glömma viktiga delar i användbarhet och kanske till och med missardet ursprungliga målet. Detta kan bli ett problem när man ska utveckla ett grafisktanvändargränssnitt för fordon och missar viktiga tester för att undersöka människors kognitivaförmåga för nya system.Genom att göra användartester i ett tidigt stadium kan man mycket tidigt få veta om man hartagit fram rätt produkt för målen.Problem med att göra tester i ett tidigt stadium är att mycket kapital måste sättas in för att skaffadyra programvaror som öppnar för möjligheten att göra tillräckligt trovärdiga tester förtestpersonerna. Det är alltid fördelaktigt att utföra tester som liknar den färdiga produkten så närasom möjligt för att kunna ge ett optimalt resultat.Detta projekt löste stora delar av problemet genom att med ett praktiskt verktyg som utveckladeskunna, med mycket låga kostnader simulera avancerade, skräddarsydda, grafiskaanvändargränssnitt. Dessa gränssnitt ska sedan vara helt kompatibla med de fordon och hårdvarasom spelar roll i den färdiga produkten. Verktyget har utvecklats med mycket fokus påanvändbarhet där man vid användning endast behöver lägga ner väldigt lite tid på att förberedaverktyget.

Ett fordon som använts i samband med brott kan tas i beslag för att förebygga brott. De lagar man använder för att ta ett beslag av ett fordon är 36 kap BrB, 27 kap RB och trafikbrottslagen (TBL). Det är flera trafikbrott som kan leda till förverkande enligt TBL, dessa har vi stolpat upp men vanligast är olovlig körning och rattfylleri. Problemställningen när man skall använda TBL 7§ i dag är att praxis skiljer sig runt om i Sverige på de olika myndigheterna. Särskilt värde på fordonet och antalet tillfällen som gärningsmannen ska ha begått ett brott, enligt TBL, skiljer sig.

We have left the industrial society, and instead, we live in a post-industrial knowledge and information society. It is often said that industrial production has disappeared or that it has changed greatly. This means that fewer are employed in the manufacturing sector while the service sector is increasing, resulting in that the boundaries between production and administration decreases. The production goes from mass production to more flexible and specialized solutions. This puts greater demands on the logistics chain that continually need to work to meet customer requirements.

This is a thesis report from SLU in Skinnskatteberg, the Swedish university of agricultural sciences. This study is an evaluation of a course in attitudes and behavior for participants of the ETT- project led by Skogforsk, the forestry research institute of Sweden. They do research for the benefit of Swedish forestry. The ETT-project is a project where there are both 74 tons ST-trucks and 90 tons ETT-trucks in test on the public roads. This study is concentrated on the ST-trucks and their drivers, company owners and logistics managers. The evaluation is done by interviews with the various participants.

Considering that the current technology is constantly improving, it becomes increasingly important to have an efficient logistics in a company to maintain profitability while achieving a competitive business. Efficient logistics may be accomplished by improving the internal materials handling. In this thesis the internal material handling of steel frames has been studied at a factory in Vaggeryd. The goal of this study is to investigate the problems that exist with the current production flow of products and provide suggestions on how it can be developed to reduce unnecessary handling and movement.The study has a deductive approach where the authors has been using literature studies parallel with empirical analyzes conducted at a company to achieve the purpose of the study. Documentation from the company and interviews with staff and observations form the basis for the data collection carried out.

Syftet med studien är att undersöka lastbil- och bussimulatorers för- och nackdelar i användandet som pedagogiskt verktyg. I undersökningen har intervjuer med tre pedagoger och tre studenter genomförts för att utvärdera simulatorer som pedagogiskt verktyg. En strävan att informera och väcka ett intresse av tekniken som hjälpmedel i undervisningen har också legat till grund för arbetet. Enligt flera forskare finns ekonomiska och tidseffektiva vinster med att använda simulatorer i undervisningen. Fördelar med den virtuella miljön är att studenterna kan lära sig hur det är att köra ett stort fordon, möjlighet finns likaså att öva på oförutsedda kritiska händelser.

A growing issue in the construction industry is how production can become moreefficient by using logistical solutions. Companies can minimize the cost of a project byreducing the time to perform the work.The purpose of this report was to examine the logistics related to pipe trenches forSIAAB. The report's focus has been on solving problems and planning that wouldfacilitate the work of the project Vaksala-Lunda Etapp 3.The case study consists of interviews with SIAAB's employees and an observationwhere the progress of a traditional pipe trench has been documented using checklists.Questions to the report?s case study come from the theoretical part, which is basedon literature on construction management and logistics in general. The observationlasted five weeks and the biggest time-consuming events that affected the pipe trenchduring this time, has received most attention.

As the cities are becoming more crowded, the urban distribution has become a major logistical challenge. Some commonproblems in the inner cities arelimited accessibility and idling. Many of Sweden's municipalities are above the limit values for PM10limit set by the EU.Sundsvall is one of these municipalities and has the vision to create a sustainable city and region. Sundsvall LogistikparkAB is part of an EU project, SMARTSET, which is collaborationbetween several cities in Europe. SMARTSETSundsvall is about to develop a market-based sustainable model for city logistics.
