Abstract.The levels of dioxin and comparable substances rose to a large extent in our environment during the second half of the 20'Th century. This was the result of the synthesis of, and careless usage of these substances in cooling fluids, hydraulics, pesticides etc. Background levels of dioxins and furans in sealed samples prior to this era suggest that former sources of these substances existed. Salt glazing is a method of adding a smooth acid resistant exterior to stoneware ceramics. The technique has been in use since the 16'Th century, maybe even earlier than that.

Most swedish newspapers have a homepage where their news are presented. Existing guidelines describing how to write for the web often recommends you to keep it short and stay objective. But how about longer pieces of content presented in the print version? What will become of reports, interviews and essays as we?ve come to know them as the printed newspaper goes digital?Interviews with representatives of five swedish newspapers shows that the extent to wich content is being published on the web is connected to the overall purpose of the web presence. The fact that many newspapers does not publish longer pieces of text on the web rather seems to be an economic issue, than a matter of good readability.Past studies shows that longer pieces of text may well work on the web, if the reader?s interest is big enough.

Den svenska regeringen satsar på småföretagande på landsbygden som omfattar bland annat gårdsbutiker och livsmedelsförädlande företag. Uppsatsen studerar denna bransch i Stockholms län och för att hitta de underliggande faktorerna till framgång används en kvalitativ studie. En serie intervjuer med Herrvik, Järna Mejeri, Nilssons Köttaffär och Saltå Kvarn bygger upp det empiriska innehållet och från dessa intervjuer studeras vilka strategival som gjorts inom respektive fokusområde. Med hjälp av produktklassificeringarna bekvämlighetsprodukter, preferensprodukter, shoppingprodukter och specialitetsprodukter dras slutsatser om företagens förmåga att hålla sig till sin målklassficering.Analysen visar att Saltå Kvarn, det företag som har vuxit sig störst, hör till klassificeringen preferensprodukter och har i princip optimal strategi över alla fokusområden. Enda avvikelsen är i marknadsföring.

Bakgrund: Den psykiska ohälsan är ett folkhälsoproblem som sträcker sig genom alla åldersgrupper. Psykisk ohälsa är som störst bland unga mellan 16-24 år där problem med sömnen är en del av det psykiska välbefinnandet.Syfte: Syftet med studien var att undersöka studenters upplevelse av vad som påverkar sömnvanor vid högre studier.Metod: Det genomfördes intervjuer med sex stycken studerande i åldrarna 20-30 år på en högskola i sydvästra Sverige. Intervjuerna spelades in, transkriberades ordagrant och sedan analyserades dem. Analysmetod som valdes var temaanalys där tre stycken teman framkom. Hänsyn togs till de etiska aspekterna och även informerat samtycke av deltagarna.

By examine cremated remains from graves dated to late Iron Age I wanted to find out what sorts of animals were placed in the graves. But also to see if the animal sacrifices had any connection to the Old Norse religion. The osteological material that were analysed were from both cremated humans and animals and had been dated to Viking Age. The material is from burial ground 59 at Laxare, Boge parish on Gotland. In addition to the human remains, the material contains bones from horse, cattle, sheep/goat, pig, dog, cat, bear, birds and fish.

Background: Overweight in children is a growing problem around the world. Studies has shown that children suffering from overweight, are at a greater risk to remain overweight as adults as well. Child health care nurses have an important task by trying to motivate parents to better diet and exercise habits for their children. Previous research proves that overweight and obesity in children is a very complex problem which requires a good caring relationship between child health care nurses and parents.Purpose: The purpose of the study was to illuminate the experiences of child health care nurses of meeting parents of overweight children.Method: An inductive qualitative approach was used as method. The collection of data was conducted by using semi-structured interviews.

In the spring of 2009 Silva Sweden AB was contacted for a collaboration within the scope of a MasterThesis project. The company had discussed the possibility to develop a device that monitors usermovement during different types of exercise. The objective of this Master Thesis has therefore been todevelop and design a multi training device that records the user?s physical performance during severalactivities. The purpose of the thesis project has been to use scientific methods for product development inorder to design a multi device that supplements Silva?s range of products.The project followed a product development process divided into four phases; Market Analysis, ConceptCreation, Concept Development and Construction.

Podcast is a new audio media in Sweden and has become larger and increasingly more popular in the past few years. In line with this, companies have seen the opportunity to use this type of marketing in the new coveted media and have created a new marketing tool in the form of sponsorship. Previous studies in this field indicate that this is a very effective method to reach a broad audience, but it still is a relatively new area with very little research in existence today. This study is an analysis of how receptive listeners are to marketing through podcasts and the ability companies have to create a sustainable and effective strategy for successful marketing through this type of medium. The collection of data for this study consists of two different qualitative interviews, the first one with listeners that were chosen, and the second with the sponsor company for two of the largest podcasts in Sweden. The essay´s empirical evidence shows how receptive listeners are to marketing via podcasts, what their podcast habits look like, what form of approach in marketing they prefer, and how often they take part in different offers. From the interviews with listeners and sponsoring companies in the study, it is concluded that the best and most effective strategy for marketing through podcasts is to weave advertising in the conversation and therefore increase the credibility and disturb the listener as little as possible.

I mer än hälften av Sveriges sjöar innehåller gädda en kvicksilverhalt som övergår Food and Agriculture Organization?s (FAO) rekommendationer. Det kvicksilver som finns lagrat i svensk skogsmark är ett resultat av antropogent nedfall. Studier visar att kvicksilver utlakas vid skogsbruksåtgärder på hela skogsmarken som en följd av förhöjd rörlighet av dissolved organic carbon (DOC). En ökad metylering av kvicksilver sker vid vattenmättade, syrefattiga förhållanden där det finns tillgång till organiskt material.

The calculations in this thesis are evaluating the profit as a consequence from treating young stands of pine in Sweden with birch bark extract, BBE. Treatment is to be done with the object to lower or fully reduce the moose browsing on pine. The study is made in three versions. The results from each version separately will follow below. Version I.: The size of the moose population is in no way affected by the reduced resources of food as a consequence of large scale treatment with BBE on pine. Results show profit at a 3 percent level of interest with the exception of treatment program with more than 4 treatments all together and with the exception of Västerbottens Län with an early first treatment. Version II.: The population of moose decrease from 10 to 5 individuals per 1000 ha as a consequence from large scale treatment with BBE on young pine stands.

Syfte: Syftet med denna litteraturstudie var att beskriva hur måltidsmiljön på särskilt boende inverkar på de äldres födointag och att beskriva de i studien ingående artiklarnas kvalité. Metod: En deskriptiv litteraturstudie genomfördes. Kvantitativa och kvalitativa vetenskapliga artiklar söktes i databaserna Medline (PubMed) och CINAHL. Tolv artiklar inkluderades i studien efter kvalitetsgranskning. Huvudresultat: Det finns många faktorer som kan påverka ätandet hos äldre människor.

Vår allt mer globaliserade värld har medfört att alltfler svenska företag internationaliserar sin verksamhet till mer avlägsna områden. Ett av dessa svenska företag som nu står inför sin första utlandsexpansion är den svenska snabbmatskedjan Max AB. Max har valt att börja sin expansion i Saudiarabien, ett land långt ifrån Sverige, inte bara i termer av geografiskt avstånd utan även kulturellt avstånd. De kulturella skillnaderna som Max möter kan komma att påverka verksamheten och leda till att vissa anpassningar måste genomföras för en framgångsrik etablering. Uppsatsen undersöker det rådande förhållandet för snabbmatsbranschen i Saudiarabien och visar vilka anpassningar internationella snabbmatskedjor bör eller måste göra på grund av de kulturella skillnaderna de möter.

This BSc thesis is an introductory step to the collaboration between the Swedish zoo Skansen and Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS). It constitutes of an inventory of the Nairobi Animal Orphanage (AO), a facility that cares for injured and abandoned wildlife species in Kenya. Through the cooperation with Skansen, the KWS will improve their management of the AO. The aim of the inventory and BSc theses is to evaluate the management of black-backed jackal (Canis mesomelas), lion (Panthera leo) and patas monkey (Erythrocebus patas) regarding their biological needs. The general enclosures, routines and feeding at the AO are also evaluated since they have a great influence on the management of captive animals.
