SammandragSyftet med min studie är att prova ut en modifierad textanalysmodell i fyra steg på fyra texter i två läroböcker. Genom utprovningen av modellen, som är baserad på den systemiska funktionella grammatikens teorier, undersöker och beskriver jag utifrån ett andraspråksperspektiv språkliga strukturer i två svenska läroböcker i historia, för att få en bild av vilka språkliga utmaningar elever möter när de läser och lär sig historia. De fyra analyserade texterna handlar om franska revolutionen, och är hämtade från två läroböcker i historia, en för grundskolans senare år och en för Historia A på gymnasiet. I modellen identifieras och kategoriseras verb och deltagare i texten, därefter undersöks relationen mellan verb och deltagare och slutligen analyseras textens organisation.Resultaten från utprovningen av modellen visar att de fyra undersökta texterna kan placeras på en skala från relativt konkret vardagsspråk till abstrakt och akademiskt språk. Många av de språkliga drag jag funnit bekräftar tidigare systemisk funktionell forskning om språket i texter om historia.

In this report a new gear concept is evaluated using the magnetic finite element method (FEM)software MagNet and Ansys as well as the mechanical FEM software Abaqus. The gear conceptis evaluated in terms of maximum torque capability, torsional stiffness, gear ratio and efficiency.ABB Corporate Research has proposed a new gear concept which should be less expensive thangearboxes used today. The new concept is called aMagnetic Harmonic Traction Drive and usesthe principles of a harmonic drive gear to achieve a high reduction ratio. The gear conceptreplaces the wave generator used in traditional harmonic drives with magnets and uses tractioninstead of gear teeth to transfer the torque. The main components in the gearbox are the magnets,the flexspline, the magnetic portion and the circular spline.

Låggradiga gliom (LGG) är långsamt växande, maligna hjärntumörer som oftainfiltrerar områden hjärnan som står för olika viktiga funktioner, exempelvis tal ochspråk. Vid vakenkirurgi av LGG kan patientens funktioner testas fortlöpande, vilket gerförutsättning för bevarande av funktion samt en mer aggressiv resektion. Graden avresektion är en viktig prognostisk faktor för överlevnad. Vid språktestning undervakenkirurgi används vanligen visuell objektsbenämning. Det finns dock patienter somfår en bestående postoperativ språkstörning, varför frågor väckts om visuellobjektsbenämning är ett tillräckligt sensitivt test för intraoperativ kartläggning avspråkliga funktioner.

The report aims to describe the austenitic stainless steel Sanicro 25 from a thermomechanical point of view. The thermal and mechanical properties of the material make it suitable for use in coal ? and thermal power plants. By the use of Sanicro 25 it would be possible to bring the efficiency of these plants up while bringing the carbon emissions down.A material model is created from material testing and validated through simulation in the finite element software Abaqus. The model that has been derived describes the material behavior during loading and stress relaxation for the first cycle in a thermomechanical fatigue test well.

I denna rapport kan läsaren följa händelseförloppet med framtagningen av en fysisk mood-board med tillhörande grafisk manual. Läsaren kommer att få en allmän förståelse för hur det semantiska hos en produkt påverkar dess användare samt hur detta påverkar produktens resultat på marknaden. I projektet pressenteras en tämligen oanvänd metod som, kortfattat; syftar till att ta vara på en målgrupps specifika känslor om exempelvis en produkt för att göra denna mer optimerad. I detta projekt handlade det mer om att ta fram specifika strukturer vilka tillslut kom att leda till ett antal speciellt utvalda ytor och material åt företaget Tylö® AB. Materialet tillsammans med speciella ytor skall komma att skapa en mer elegant känsla i deras kommande sortiment.

The goal of this paper is to provide a model for a sustainable electricity system to an island, in the Pacific Ocean near the equator.The method which has been used is to model supply and demand of electricity in the computer program Stella, through the creation of a dynamic system that balances them against each other. The result from the model will then be used to calculate the electricity price per kWh for the island.The result of the work is that electricity from solar energy is comparable with electricity produced from oil, if the oil pays for all its external costs, and the potential for pumped hydro storage plants is located. It also requires that consumers of electricity can be their own producers to avoid the expenditure of tax and reducing the cost of distribution. But since oil is a finite resource and has had a rising cost in recent years, while solar energy has had a declining cost, perhaps this will be a more competitive solution in the future.

Denna uppsats handlar om den typ av språklig konstruktion som kallasresultativkonstruktion. Målet med uppsatsen är att förklara vad en resultativkonstruktionär, att ge en kort skiss av hur forskningen kring resultativerhar utvecklats, samt att beskriva hur resultativkonstruktionerkommer till uttryck i det svenska språket.Resultativer är konstruktioner där komplementet i verbfrasen uttryckerett resultat av verbhandlingen. Resultativer lämpar sig väl för attbeskrivas i ett konstruktionsgrammatiskt perspektiv. En ledande forskareinom konstruktionsgrammatiken är Adele Goldberg, och hennessätt att beskriva resultativkonstruktionen har varit en viktig utgångspunktför uppsatsen.Ett av de mera intressanta dragen hos resultativkonstruktionerna verkarvara att de skulle kunna ändra valensen för det verb som ingår ikonstruktionen. Det är en egenhet som innebär att man, beroende påvilka tolkningar man gör, kan se det som att dessa konstruktioner inte ärhelt förenliga med vissa delar den grammatiktradition som har sitt ursprungi tranformationsgrammatiken.

This paper accounts for the work with a website for a company whose real name will not be disclosed in the text of this paper. Instead, they have been assigned the fictitious name Larmbolaget, which can be translated as ?The Alarm Company?.During our work with Larmbolaget?s website, we consulted a selection of accessibility guidelines from the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.0, developed by a working group within the World Wide Web Consortium, as well as a number of design principles and heuristics outlined in this paper. We also conducted several usability tests on users from our intended target group. All the measures taken were an effort to ensure that Larmbolaget?s website be as accessible and usable as possible.Our conclusion is that the resulting website does comply with the accessibility guidelines and design principles described in this paper, and thus we consider it to be accessible and usable to a wide range of users, including those with disabilities..

av litteraturen på området visar sig vara i det närmaste förbisedda i tidi-gare beskrivningar av svenskan: progressiva participkonstruktioner, dvs. sekvenser bestående av ett verb följt av ett verbalt presensparticip.I undersökningen används i första hand korpusmaterialet i Parole. Vid analysen av de 875 progressiva participkonstruktioner som påträffas i materialet används konstruktionsgrammatiken som verktyg.Analysen av de progressiva participkonstruktionerna visar att de kan delas upp i tre kategorier: riktningsbetecknande participkonstruktioner, som företräds i exempel som De kommer gående nedför gatan, befint-lighetsbetecknande participkonstruktioner, som kan representeras av De blev sittande med biljetterna, och additiva participkonstruktioner, som man finner i exempelvis Barnen sprang gråtande tillbaka till dagis.Undersökningen visar bl.a. att de tre typerna av participkonstruktioner är progressiva former i svenskan och att det inte är de enskilda lexemen utan konstruktionerna som ger den progressiva tolkningen..

Denna uppsats behandlar förekomsten av den optionella subjunktionen som i svenska objektsrelativsatser. Sökningar gjordes i en svenskspråkig korpus för att hitta objektsrelativsatser med och utan som. Resultaten undersöktes mot bakgrund av två hypoteser gällande processningseffektivitet och tillgänglighet hos referenter. I båda fallen styrktes dessa hypoteser. Som tycks vara mer frekvent i relativsatser där många ord skiljer matrissatsens korrelat från relativsatsens finita verb vilket stödjer principen Maximize On-line Processing som formulerats av Hawkins och som grundar sig i teorier kring processningseffektivitet.

Efficient numerical methods for option pricing is an active field of research. This project has the goal to examine possible ways to improve an established method of numerical pricing. The method is based on an adaptive finite difference method in price and uses the backwards differentiation formula of order 2, BDF2, in time. The project will focus on improvements to the time integration through implementation of discontinuous Galerkin methods, dG. Empirical convergence and accuracy results are obtained for equidistant dG-methods up to order 3 and performance is compared to BDF2.

Sammanfattning:Uppsatsen består av två kvantitativa beräkningar gjorda i sex grammatikböcker ur kurslitteraturen vid Institutionen för nordiska språk, LU. Den första beräkningen utgörs av antalet subjekt i exempelmeningarna med manlig respektive kvinnlig referent. Den andra beräkningen utgörs av de semantiska roller som dessa subjekt innehar i exempelmeningarna. Syftet är att utröna om män representeras oftare än kvinnor i exempelmeningarna, om de är mer aktiva och om män generaliseras till "människor". Min hypotes var att finna att män representeras oftare än kvinnor, men att det förändras över tid, något som också infriades till viss del.Den kvantitativa beräkningen har sedan analyserats kvalitativt med hjälp av en feministisk språkteori för att utröna bakomliggande orsaker till skillnader mellan representationen av män respektive kvinnor.

This master thesis is the documented work of the construction process and testing of a three hour laboratory session in mathematics aimed at high school level students. The purpose of the thesis was to create an interesting laboratory session for the science education center ?The House of Science? that could be used as a part of their regular program directed to schools. The thesis explores the possibilities for how one can construct a laboratory session on the topic ?molecular symmetry? as well as the underlying pedagogical theories used to describe learning processes in creative contexts.

In this study I compare the use of reporting verbs in direct speech in Swedish and Polish literary prose. The aim is to examine how differences in usage are reflected in translations to and from Swedish and to what extent the translator adapts the text to the target language and its literary conventions.I have compared the material on two levels: source text versus source text in Polish and Swedish respectively, to see what kind of speech verbs are most commonly used, and source text versus target text, to study the strategies the translators have used and to what extent reporting verbs are altered or not.I have also studied quotation verb + adverbial phrase or prepositional phrase, to investigate if they are more frequent in the two target texts or adapted to the literary concentions of the target language. .

Our modern society is in many ways built with and dependent on fossil fuels, which are used for energy production as well as for transporting humans and goods. Without the oil, many of the things we take for granted would not be possible. During the last century, the use of oil has increased steadily and will probably keep increasing as the world population and the economic well-being for many people increase. Since the oil is a finite resource, we will have to find other fuels that can replace it if we want to keep the same rate of development in the future as the availability of petrol fuels will decrease with rising prices as a result. Furthermore, fossil fuels have the disadvantage that they produce harmful emissions when combusted and thus affect the climate and air quality locally and globally.
