In the last decades, high speed cutting has become an attractive technology in the wood industry. The possibility of reducing global costs in addiction with an increase in productivity, were the main reasons for the enlargement of the use of this technology. As usual, these advantages are accompanied by disadvantages that should be carefully analyzed. If on the one hand cutting forces are reduced with increasing cutting speeds, on the other hand, the centrifugal forces affecting the tool are higher. Exposed to such high loads, there is a considerable risk of tool Failure that embeds hazards for both machine and workers.

Background: Diabetes mellitus is a chronic disease that manifests as an increased level of glucose in the blood. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), 347 million people have diabetes worldwide. In year 2004, 3.4 million people died from the consequences of high blood glucose. In the Swedish population the prevalence of diabetes is estimated to 3-4 %, out of which 85-90% are Type 2. Among senior citizens a prevalence of diabetes is seen in Sweden up to 14 - 15%.

Barley is one of the most important cereals cultivated in the Nordic countries. Climate change brings warmer and moisture climate which favors fungal diseases. In the cropland barley can be seriously infested with hard fungus attack. Since it is important that the yield bears a high quality it is of great importance to find varieties more resistant to attacks.Pathogenesis-related (PR) proteins are stress proteins induced in the plant in response to infection and abiotic stress (van Loon, 1997). PRs are shown to have antimicrobial activity differing between bacteria, fungi and oomycetes (Tandrup Poulsen, 2001).

Various electromagnetic (EM) treatments has been investigated for their potential in improving crop productivity over the past century. There is today an increasing amount of scientists advocating EM treatments as an organically compatible method for improving plant growth and yield. However, Failure to produce repeatable effects and defining causal mechanisms has made it a study of much controversy and debate. The subject requires indepth interdisciplinary knowledge, making it inaccessible for the majority of biologists, horticulturists and growers. In this combined literature review and pilot study, these issues are addressed by providing a comprehensive introductory review of the topic plant bioelectromagnetics and its potential horticultural usability.

The Swedish agricultural sector is currently undergoing a substantial structural change. The number of farm enterprises is continuously decreasing and the average farm size is increasing. In combination with increasing number of competitors in the insurance market, the competitive rivalry within this market has increased significantly. With this knowledge in mind, Länsförsäkringar Uppsala initiated this study, which aims to provide an understanding of customer?s view on customer value, related to agricultural insurance and financing.

The world?s growing need for energy together with a desire to ward off the worst consequences of global climate change has resulted in a never seen desire to invest resources in renewable energy sources. Biogas production through anaerobic digestion is one of those growing energy sources. In Sweden there are over two hundred plants that uses this biological process to break down organic substances while producing carbon dioxide and the energy-rich gas methane.This master?s thesis has focused on development of the mixture of different organic substances that is treated at a specific plant, namely Mosserud biogas plant.

Bull terrier hereditary nephritis is caused by a mutation that leads to an inadequate synthesis of collagen type IV, which is an important component in the basement membranes. The inheritance of the mutation is autosomal dominant in bull terriers and progression to renal Failure takes variable time, from several months to ten years. Proteinuria is the first clinical sign of the disease and the diagnosis is confirmed by transmission electron microscopy of renal tissue where typical ultrastructural changes in the glomerular basement membrane (GBM), thickening and multilaminar splitting are found. This study was performed in order to find out the occurrence of hereditary nephritis in bull terriers in Sweden through examination of urine samples and renal tissue and comparisons with how the disease is described in the literature. Urine samples from 76 Swedish bull terriers were collected and examined for proteinuria.

The principal of the thesis works at Plastic Produkter. The assignment was to develop equipment for an effective way to dose, mix silicon, fill a special designed plastic bag and then seal it. The bag is then formed into a breast model.When a customer for various reasons decides to do a breast augmentation or a breast reconstruction, there may be doubt or uncertainty about the result.

Hjärtsvikt är ett tillstånd då hjärtfunktionen försämrats och cirkulationen inte förser kroppens alla organ med tillräckligt stort blodflöde. Vid hjärtsviktsbehandling är loopdiuretika viktigt för att behandla ödem då det verkar vätskedrivande. Torasemid är ett loopdiuretika som har visats vara effektivt och bra tolererat. I flera studier har effekterna jämförts mellan torasemid och furosemid varvid många betydelsefulla och förmånliga effekter har observerats för torasemid. Syftet med litteraturstudien var att ta reda på om torasemid kan vara ett bättre alternativ till furosemid vid hjärtsviktsbehandling, om torasemid bör kombineras med spironolakton, om furosemid borde sluta användas och varför torasemid inte används i större utsträckning vid hjärtsviktsbehandling. Slutsatsen av litteraturstudien är att torasemid borde användas istället för furosemid vid behandling av hjärtsvikt, vilket grundas på de fördelar som har redovisats i genomförda studier.

Kalvar föds i det närmaste utan antikroppar då dessa inte kan passera placentan från ko till kalv. Således är kalvar helt beroende av att ta upp antikroppar från råmjölken för att kunna stå emot smittämnen så de kan hålla sig friska och överleva. I detta examensarbete har olika faktorer som kan påverka antikroppsöverföringen studerats. I en kommersiell mjölkbesättning samlades uppgifter in om 35 kor som kalvade under två månader. Prov togs från första mjölkningens råmjölk för undersökning av råmjölkens hygieniska kvalitet samt Brix-värde, vilket är en indirekt mätning av råmjölkens innehåll av IgG. Under kalvarnas första levnadsdygn noterades uppgifter om utfodrad råmjölksvolym, ålder vid utfodring, hur bra kalvarna drack mjölken, kalvarnas födelsevikt samt bedömning av vitalitet.

The role of religion, of religious individuals and organizations, is currently discussed within both a private and public sector of development. I have viewed documents from the World Bank and DFID where the religious presence is a growing fact and previous theories that religion would disappear with economic development have been abandoned. As a result DFID conducted a large study on the importance of religion for development work, RaD 2005-2011, under the directions of Professor Carole Rakodi. Rakodi (2011) concluded that religion was highly related to the success or Failure of developmental projects, and to understand the values people had religion needed to be understood within its specific cultural context. She developed an analysis model to conduct this work.
