New guidelines and laws were set to try and improve the quality of the auditing business while trying to restore stained reputation. New regulations were also set to increase the control the government have of inspecting the business through finansinspektionen..

When Sweden acceded to the European Union in 1995 the term social economy was introduced to the Swedish context, gradually replacing the term civil society. This replacement can be seen as an indicator of a changing meaning of what the concept of civil society used to stand for.The aim of this essay is to study if it is possible to identify changing perceptions of the role of civil society for democracy in Sweden in government bills between 2002 and 2008, and, if so, what effect does this have on the delineation between the civil society and the government.An analytical model is proposed consisting of two dimensions which both capture the roles of civil society for democracy and the model examines how those roles relate to the government.The conclusion is that the government still sees the main function of civil society as a democratic school and a change agent for democracy. However, there is strong evidence to suggest that the civil society is increasingly regarded as more of a welfare producer than a fosterer of democracy..

Nanotechnology, one of the most interesting sciences today will no doubt have an enourmous impact on tomorrow's society and industry. One of the most interesting nanomaterial that has been discovered is the semiconductor quantum dot (QD). This material shows interesting novel properties such as a size-dependent band gap, which is an effect caused by the quantum confinement effect in all three dimensions. Due to this phenomenon the absorption spectrum can be tuned to the desired value by adjusting the size of the QD.This thesis aims to investigate how the solvent ratio of H2O/Ethanol affects the optical and structural properties of copper sulfide QDs manufactured in a chemical synthesis way using modern microwave heating. The process of manufacturing QDs using chemical synthesis often involve a capping-agent to prevent the QDs from agglomerate into bigger structures.

Följande studie analyserar utdelningspolitiken hos familjeföretag under åren 2004-2014. Studien är uppdelad i två steg. Första steget syftar till att svara på frågan om familjeföretag har en högre utdelningsnivå än icke-familjeföretag. Steg två undersöker huruvida ett aktivt ägande påverkar utdelningarna hos familjeföretag. Studien baseras på en totalundersökning av företag som under våren 2015 var noterade på Nasdaq OMX Stockholms Large-, Mid- och Small-Cap.

Detta arbete tar upp iden om att datorspel kan användas som ett hjälpmedel för att förstå och hantera komplexa system, för den enskilde spelaren såväl som för forskare. Arbetet fokuserar på ett antal kritiska faktorer: möjligheter, problem och frågeställningar, samt tar upp en diskussion kring möjligheten att se datorspel som världar, lika verkliga som vår egen, då vi ser på det från en position innanför systemet, genom speljaget som en agent i den virtuella världen, och vilka implikationer detta kan få för hur vi kan lära oss att förstå och hantera komplexa system.Vi lever i en verklighet i vilken vi omges av komplexa system, både sådana vi skapat själva och sådana som finns naturligt. The purpose of the study is to investigate how board structure influences CEO compensation for companies listed on the Stockholm Stock Exchange in 2004. The theoretical frame of reference is based upon the corporate governance theory, the principal-agent theory and previous empirical research in the area. A cross sectional regression analysis is used, where a number of control variables are included and significance tests are conducted. The study is based on information regarding CEO compensation, and possible factors affecting the compensation, from 267 companies listed on the Stockholm Stock Exchange A- and O-list in the year 2004. We find that the board structure has no significant effect on the CEO compensation.

LGBT people, in Uganda, have since the colonial time been in a vulnerable situation. When the President signed the ?Anti-Homosexuality Act? into law 2014 all forms of same-sex relationships became criminalized. The time after the law passed have been characterized by an increased homophobia and further violence against LGBT people. These are seen as deviants since they do not live according to the social norms, that the right thing to be is heterosexual.

Organizations today face big challenges as a result of increased exposure. A distinct and recognizable identity is required to differentiate. Consistent and coherent communication about what the organization stands for and where it is going is crucial if you want to succeed. This is a case study of how organizational members from two real estate companies that have merged into one, perceive their merged organization. The method is depth interviews with management representatives and focus group interviews with members from different levels of the company.

Detta arbete går ut på att testa hur två olika träningsmetoder påverkar hur ett artificiellt neuralt nätverk (ANN) presterar i en 2d spelmiljö. Ett belöningsbaserat nätverk som använder genetiska algoritmer har jämförts mot ett exempelbaserat nätverk som använder backpropagation. För att göra detta möjligt att testa så behövde fyra delsteg genomföras. Dessa är utveckling av belöningsbaserad ANN, utveckling av exempelbaserad ANN, utveckling av testmiljö och evaluering av resultat.Resultaten visar att agenten belöningsbaserat nätverk har presterat bättre i det flesta testen men även att den varit mer slumpmässig. Det finns dock undantag där den agenten med exempelbaserat nätverk har varit bättre.

I och med införandet av redovisningsstandarden IAS 36 år 2005 måste svenska börsnoterade företag årligen testa om en nedskrivning av den immateriella tillgången goodwill skall genomföras. Tidigare forskning tyder på att en nytillträdd vd utnyttjar denna standard genom att manipulera resultatet. Vidare visar forskning att ett företags ägarstruktur påverkar goodwillnedskrivningens storlek. Syftet med denna uppsats är att undersöka huruvida nedskrivningar av goodwill påverkas vid vd-byten i familjeägda företag jämfört med i icke familjeägda företag.Undersökningen omfattar Nasdaq OMX Stockholm under tidsperioden 2005-2013. Resultatet visar statistiskt säkerställt att familjeägda företag gör lägre goodwillnedskrivningar samma år som ett vd-byte än vad icke familjeägda företag gör.

The study explores different aspects of how a social organization is created and maintained in the space between the institution and the individual. Based on fieldwork, participant observation and individual interviews in the housing estate of Hageby, Norrköping, this ethnographic study examines how and why the organization ?Ditt Nya Hageby? was created, as well as the unanimity between the purpose of the organization and the engagement of the members. Two projects within the organization are especially examined, along with the roles of the two members behind them. The study presents three perspectives from which ?Ditt Nya Hageby? can be viewed.

I denna studie testas tio hypoteser som relaterar till finansiell teori för att se hur väl teorin kan förklara skuldsättningsgraden i små börsnoterade bolag. De teorier som testas är avvägningsteorin (trade-off theory), hackordningsteorin (pecking order theory) samt teorier relaterade till asymmetrisk information och agentkostnader. Testen genomförs med multipel linjär regressionsanalys och de undersökta bolagen är samtliga bolag med färre än 200 anställda på tre av de mindre börslistorna i Sverige. Resultatet visar stöd för åtta av de tio undersökta hypoteserna och är i flera avseenden tydligare än i tidigare studier som testar onoterade små bolag eller ett bredare urval av bolag..
