In the profession of architects there is an Element called architectural competitions, where several architects compete in submitting the best solution for a certain task. In this master?s thesis I am studying the competitor?s perspective of an international architectural competition, while at the same time gaining experiences for my future career as a landscape architect. The aim of this thesis is to through an introspection of my own process examine a competitors view of the international architectural competition and how to approach the difficulties concerning international competitions. Through that I hope obtain experience about the international competition as part of the profession of landscape architects and other involved professions. To examine a competitor?s reflection of an international competition, I entered and competed in LE:NOTRE Student Competition, a competition for students where the task was to develop 25 kilometers of complex urban periphery along a chain of natural and artificial lakes in Bucharest, Romania.

Syftet med detta arbete är att undersöka bilders betydelse för att uppnå läsförståelse ur aktörerna på marknadens perspektiv. Det som ska undersökas är hur illustratören kan utforma bilden för att påverka läsförståelsen och hur aktörerna kan påverka vilka barnböcker som finns tillgängliga för barnen. Det är också viktigt att undersöka vikten av bilden och textens samspel, hur det påverkar läsförståelsen.m Vidare kommer undersökningen att utforska de mest framträdande fördelar och nackdelar som finns med att använda bilder i böcker för barn som håller på att lära sig läsa. Undersökningen har använt sig av en kvalitativ metod. Litteraturgranskningen har kommit först, där en teoridel har genererats.

Bakgrund: Aktuell forskning har exempelvis visat att patienter som drabbats av en stroke och fått massage under tiden på sjukhuset förbättrat sin förmåga att genomföra aktiviteter i det dagliga livet snabbare än kontrollgruppen.Syfte: Syftet var att beskriva patienters upplevelser av mjuk massage inom sjukvården.Metod: Litteraturöversikten baseras på tio kvalitativa och en kvantitativ artikel vilka har funnits i databasen Cinahl. Fribergs analysmetod har använts i analysdelen. Sökorden var: touch, experience, care, touching, patient, nursing, nurs*, massage, tactile, tactile massage, soft tissue massage och aromatherapy. I diskussionen kopplas resultatet till den teoretiska utgångspunkten som är Katie Erikssons omvårdnadsteori, samt det vårdvetenskapliga konsensusbegreppet vårda.Resultat: I resultatet framkom fyra teman varav ett har två underteman. I första temat, Relationen till massören, beskrivs patientens relation och känslor gentemot massören.

Varje höst börjar en ny kull av barn i skolan och möts av skolgården på den allra första skoldagen. Skolgården är skolans visitkort och ansikte utåt och berättar något om hur skolan ser på barns utomhusvistelse. Det föräldrar och barn idag möts av är vanligen en mycket steril yta som inte signalerar till någon kreativ verksamhet. Skolgården har även visat sig vara en av de mest eftersatta utomhusmiljöerna i Sverige idag och är samtidigt en av de platserna barn spenderar större delen av sin vakna tid på. Utomhuspedagogik är ett omdiskuterat begrepp som idag blivit ett allt mer vanligt forskningsämne. Forskning visar på att det är bra för barn att vistas utomhus och att det medför många positiva effekter som god hälsa, ökad koncentrationsförmåga och motoriska färdigheter.

Ansatsen på denna uppsats är att undersöka om de går att identifiera arketyper enligt de förutsättningar Carl Gustav Jung anger i musik och vilka krav som ställs för att arketyperna ska framträda. Författarens ambition är också att se om de presenterade resultaten kan användas som förklaringsmodell till de fenomen som bland annat uppträder i musikterapisituationer.En betydelsefull utgångspunkt för arbetet är att undersöka om vaggvisan kan betraktas som en symbol i jungiansk mening och därigenom fungera som en länk till det kollektiva omedvetna. För att vaggvisan ska få sin numinösa laddning krävs emellertid att tre krav är uppfyllda:Först och främst krävs att utövaren (föräldern) är helt och hållet närvarande i situationen.Den musik som produceras måste innehålla arketypiska Element.Mottagaren måste känna sig utvald.Utifrån det material som presenteras kan vaggvisan accepteras som en symbol i jungiansk mening, vilket också banar väg för att lansera en arketyp som författaren kallar: ?Dansknytningens arketyp?. Utgångspunkten för denna arketyp är att betrakta musiken som tonsatt rörelse och att vaggvisan i sin djupaste mening har en starkt anknytande funktion.

Muslims and islam are unquestionably a part of European social life. In recent times, however, different events, such as the enlargement of the EU and the fact that muslims to a higher extent demand their rights, have brought a number of questions to the fore concerning muslims and islam in Europe. Moreover, we can see an increasing level of islamophobia in contemporary Europe, but also that the EU has launched several programs to increase both the diversity and the unity throughout the Union and to combat islamophobia. However, most of these programs focus on islam as religion and muslims in general, and such a narrow viewpoint runs the risk of missing important issues.In this new context it would be interesting to widen the scope and ask what place not only the muslim community and islam, but also sharia (an important Element in islam), may have in future Europe ? especially when it comes to muslim identity?My main objects are to see how the concept of sharia is constructed in the debates in the European Parliament, how that discourse relates to a social practice ? the increasing islamophobic ideas in Europe ? and what effect this may have on muslim identity in a European context.The results shows that the Parliament constructs sharia as, for example, something archaic, threatening, inhuman and misogynistic.

In the last few years people have become more and more aware of how humanity is affecting the climate. In the direction of reducing the greenhouse gases is to design engines with higher tensile properties and reduced weight, in order to achieve lower fuel consumption and cleaner fuel incineration in today's truck engines.In order to achieve these requirements it?s necessary to increase the combustion pressure in the engine. This requires higher tensile properties and high thermal conductivity of the engine material. The department of Component Technology at the University of Jönköping in collaboration with Volvo Powertrain AB, Scania CV AB and DAROS Piston Rings AB has been commissioned to develop this material and to find knowledge of material properties used in truck engines and piston rings used for marine applications.The purpose with this work is to analyze the tensile properties of a series of cast iron, cast under different metallurgical conditions.Four different series of cast irons have been analyzed from four points of view, carbon concentration, nodularity, amount inoculation and cooling rate.After the tensile test all specimen data was analyzed in a mathematic calculation program called Matlab 2006a.

The main purpose of this study is to inquire whether music can function as a supportive and compensating tool for children from various kinds of social exposure. Eurhythmics is the musical method focused on, since it consciously works out of a socializing perspective. The study involves a scheme with poor children in Argentin (autumn 2005) and is based upon two interviews with women working professionally with both the social and the musical aspect of the current question. Notes from the above mentioned project are added to the interviews. The possible conclusion from the end results is that the individual as well as the dynamics of the group (as a whole) draw positive benefits from not only the music itself but also the structure and the Elements of it.

Innan vi kommer in på vad som sker på tak reder arbetet ut hur takets yta kan ses i ett större sammanhang, vilka likheter och skillnader de har till andra outnyttjade ytor i våra städer. Arbetet begränsar sig därefter till att titta närmare på potentialen av att offentliga använda taket. Arbetet syftar därmed till att ifrågasätta och undersöka takets plats inom planeringen, med fokus på dess lämplighet som offentlig plats.Det undersökandet görs med hjälp av en fallstudie inkluderandes fem svenska och två utländska tak vilka är tillgängliga offentligt. Exemplen är hämtade från nutid i form av exempelvis Emporia i Malmö, projekt stadier i form av Park1 i Stockholm samt från historian i form av Hötorgscitys takterrasser. Utifrån teorier av främst Jan Gehl och Tomas Wikström studeras och analyseras platsernas förutsättningar och möjligheter till användande.

Under de senaste decennierna parallellt med klimatdiskussionen har det vuxit fram ett stort intresse för höghastighetståg och en förbättrad infrastruktur i Sverige. I delar av Europa men speciellt i Kina och Japan har utvecklingen av höghastighetståg fått ett enormt lyft. Ett problem vid höjda tåghastigheter är att broarna vid en kombination av låg massa och låg egenfrekvens riskerar att orsaka resonans och höga accelerationsnivåer vid passage.Ballastspår är namnet för det traditionella järnvägsspåret i Sverige. The need for snow-free surfaces at squares, bus stops, platforms, car parks and sports facilities increases and at the same time energy price rise and the environment is becoming a hotter issue. The construction of the ground heating systems often lack thermal insulation under the heating pipes, which means that the heat from the pipes not only warm up the soil surface but also heats the surrounding soil. The insulation also has more features, by insulating the risk of frost damage is minimized. The goal of this report is to demonstrate the large heat loss and energy costs in the absence of insulation under the heating system.The report begins with a scientific way to study and treating the soil heating system uses, and the theory involved. Furthermore it also deals with different routing principles of heat pipes depending on the facility.All calculations are made with so called finite Element method (FEM), in COMSOL Multiphysics 3,5a, where models are created with different conditions.

Dagens dynamiska affärsmiljö kräver ständig effektivisering för fortsatt lönsamhet på marknaden. Logistik och distribution är områden som av denna anledning hamnat i fokus för förändring eftersom de kan skapa konkurrenskraft. Genom effektiva mätsystem i distributionsverksamheten kan företag styra och utveckla sina distributionssystem efter de krav som ställs och därmed öka sin konkurrenskraft. Mätningar är verktyg för att skapa kunskap och kunskap är en förutsättning för förbättring. Det är mot ovanstående bakgrund som syftet med detta arbete tagit form.
