Den här rapporten beskriver utvecklingen av en prototyp till ett system, Hummingbird, som låter användaren uppdatera en trådlös dörrskylt varifrån som helst, via mikrobloggtjänsten Twitter. Systemet har utvecklats som ett kandidatarbete vid Data- och IT-institutionen vid Chalmers Tekniska Högskola, Göteborg. Projektgruppen har bestått av sex teknikstuderande frånChalmers och Göteborgs Universitet.Resultatet är ett fungerande system bestående av två delar: en dörrskylt meddisplay samt en basstation som hämtar meddelanden från Twitter. Skyltenoch basstationen kommunicerar via en radiolänk.Projektets huvudsakliga fokus ligger på energieffektivitet hos skylten. Ävenanvändarvänlighet och robusta kommunikationsprotokoll har prioriterats.Som en del i projektets fokus på energieffektivitet har tekniker för strömsnåladisplayer, radiokommunikationsmoduler och microcontrollerplattformar undersöktsoch använts.

This BSc thesis is a part of an initial step of a collaboration between Skansen and Kenyan Wildlife Service (KWS) and constitutes of an inventory of the Nairobi Animal Orphanage run by KWS. Animal Orphanage takes care of orphaned and injured animals arriving from throughout Kenya. The project started out as a refuge and as a temporary place for animals in need of care and help. With time it has evolved to an establishment that resembles and functions more like an animal zoo. The aim of this inventory is to focus on how the biological needs of Congo grey parrots ( Psittacus erithacus erithacus) and cheetahs (Acinonyx jubatus) are met, in terms of management and housing.

The last decade has created an increasing pressure on companies to decrease their impact on the environment and to increase their effectiveness of recycling the company?s resources, especially for the steel industry. Companies have also started to realize the economic aspects of an effective internal reverse logistics. In the past the value of an effective internal reverse logistic was something that companies tend to underestimate and there are few academic studies done in this area. The purpose of this essay has been to identify key factors to create an effective in plant storage, transport, sorting and handling of returned steel. From these factors a generalized model for creating an effective return steel flow will be developed.

This Master Thesis has been conducted as an assignment of the Swedish Defence MaterialAdministration and the Swedish Armed Forces and aims to examine the Target Location Error(TLE) of a Forward Observer System. The targeting accuracy of the system is vital if the systemis to be used as a sensor for precision munitions. The analyzed system, EOI (FOI 2000), wasdelivered to the Swedish Armed Forces in 2007. The targeting sequence starts with deciding theposition of the system with a GPS-receiver, continues with methods where the north direction issettled and ends by measuring the distance, direction and elevation to the target. When allparameters have been measured the system calculates the position of the target.

Människors ohälsa på den svenska arbetsmarknaden är något som under senaste tid flitigt debatterats i media. Denna uppsats vill undersöka hur intresset för hälsa inom en kommunal förvaltning ser ut. Studien tar sig an problematiken utifrån två aspekter, dels utifrån ett synsätt som utgår från ett politiskt och arbetsledningshåll, vad styr att de väljer att arbeta med friskvård för sina anställda. Dels utifrån ett synsät som lägger fokus på arbetstagarna, varför väljer dessa människor att delta respektive avstå från förvaltningens friskvårdsaktiviteter. Syftet med denna kvalitativa uppsats är att undersöka vilka sociala faktorer som påverkar politiker och arbetsledningens handlande i arbetet med friskvård för de anställda, samt att även undersöka vilka sociala faktorer som gör att de anställda deltar respektive avstår från förvaltningens friskvårdssatsning.

The purpose of this literature review is to visualize the contributing factors of insufficient hygiene routines and incorrect aseptic handling. The literature review contains ten scientific articles from England, USA, Italy and Sweden, and related literature. Factors causing the problem are presented as four themes, the most reoccurring in our material are lack of time, knowledge/education, equipment and attitudes/motivation..

Syftet med föreliggande studie var att undersöka sambandet mellan självkänsla, perfektionism, tävlingsängslan och självförtroende. Dessa fenomen samspelar och ger antingen positiva eller negativa utfall för atletens prestation och känslor inför tävling. Vidare var syftet att undersöka eventuella skillnader i ovan nämnda variabler mellan individuella idrottare och lagidrottare samt ta reda på om det finns några skillnader mellan könen. En enkätundersökning genomfördes med 101 deltagare från totalt sex olika sporter. Resultaten av PSPP-R visade att individuella idrottare hade högre fysiskt självvärde och global självkänsla än lagidrottarna.

The aim of this report is to discuss computer security in handheld computers and to find out the appropriate security level that must be implemented to be able to use handheld computers within the Swedish healthcare system. Most healthcare centers are using some kind of electronic journals for their patient´s data today, but there are still a number of clinics that are usingthe old paper-system. On a few places in Sweden the use of handheld computers at the clinics has already started, but in the United States the use of handheld computers in the medical area is already widespread and from this we can see a lot of different situations where it is useful and effective to work with handheld computers. The security demands on patient´s journals are high and regulated in both Swedish law and regulations from the National Swedish Board of Health and Welfare. The law does not have any substantial demands, but states that there should be an adequate security level based on the nature of the information and the costs.

As a previous employee at the department of logistics at Volvo Penta I?ve taken part of the environment, information and prerequisites that this thesis discusses on a daily basis. Case studies have been used for the collection and analysis of data concerning packaging logistics as I?ve chosen to consider only specific markets and packaging.Conclusions This thesis has highlighted the demands that are placed upon engine packaging throughout all concerned units and how these demands affect each other, positively and negatively.

In this report female farmers use of technical equipment is investigated. There is little research made on this subject in Sweden, therefore this report can be seen as an explorative study. Research makes it clear that machinery, throughout history and even today, has been seen as a male area. Heavy machines are often associated with the same attributes as masculinity. Force, power, efficiency and control are some examples.

Idag väljer nästintill alla pappor att närvara vid sitt barns födsel. Vid förlossningen erbjuds han att klippa navelsträngen. Detta klippande är en symbolisk handling som har kommit att bli en ritual. Syftet med denna studie var att undersöka hur förstagångspappor ställer sig till att klippa sitt barns navelsträng vid födseln, samt dess tankar och upplevelser kring handlingen. En enkät med slutna och öppna frågor delades ut vid tre BB-avdelningar vid olika sjukhus i Västsverige.

Bakgrund och problemBanker arbetar idag med effektivisering av sina egna verksamheter och försöker få sina kunder allt mindre beroende av bankkontoren. Detta kräver ständig utveckling av de e-tjänster som idag tillhandahålls. För att företag skall kunna erhålla efterfrågade e-tjänster måste bankerna vara medvetna om vad som efterfrågas. Det är därför intressant att studera vad företag förväntar sig av bankerna.

This report describes the creation of an interactive text system for storing, retrieval and publishing of texts, ITS.My task was to create a GUI together with a database capable of handling text, commenting of texts, references between texts, and the capability to associate images with texts.After enough texts have been inserted into the database, there shall be an ability to generate a report out of them.The report describes the methods used when the GUI was implemented, how the database was modelled and implemented, and how the security aspects where solved.The entire project is created with the help of Java, MySQL server, Connector/J and OpenSSL.Furthermore the functions of the GUI and the future of ITS is described..

This thesis is a case study which describes the automation of a university library in Sub-Saharan Africa. The aim of the case study is, firstly; to find out which actors and factors have started and influenced the automation and the implementation of ICT at Makerere University Library in Kampala, Uganda. Secondly; it also discusses if the automation has changed the librarys condition. The empirical material consists of fifteen interviews with librarians and students. The empirical material itself has functioned as a base when discerning the analytical themes.
