The United States use of Unmanned Combat Aerial Vehicles (UCAV) or drones for targeted killings of terrorists has been on the rise in recent years and the method has become the core element of president Obamas strategy in the war against terror. This study examines the deterrent effect of targeted killings on terrorism using UCAV/drones as a method of counterterrorism. Building on the literature on counterterrorism, UCAV, targeted killings, deterrence theory and statistics on terrorism the study provides a case study of the CIA drone operations in Pakistan between the years 2004-2010. The goal has been to analyze drone operations and the extent of terrorism from the beginning of the drone campaign until 2010. This as a means of identifying possible trends in terrorism activity due to the occurrence of drone strikes.

The subject of this study has been organizational change within two Scandinavian green parties ? the Swedish Green Party and the Norwegian Green Party. Looking at the organizational changes within these two parties using Robert Michel?s famous concept the ?iron law of oligarchy?, I have studied whether these two parties have become more oligarchic after having been elected to the national parliaments of Sweden and Norway respectively. What I have found is that although these two parties still retain much of the original organizational structure that they have had, in particular the Swedish Green Party, change has occurred and seems to be occurring, at least in the Norwegian Green Party, which would indicate that the two parties have become more oligarchic.

Studien är av kvantitativ modell och utförd med hjälp av enkätfrågor.

Mass media is becoming more and more personalized and despite common ideas it could actually be a good thing. Instead of affecting the actual content of news coverage it might only have an effect on the way in which news are presented. Famous politicians more regularly become symbols and synonyms for their parties or for the government and are being used to create interest in the beginning of articles.Those are the results from a content analysis of the newspaper coverage of the Swedish parliamentary election in 1976 and 2006 in which the scientist categorized each article in one of four ideal types, counted quotes and analyzed whether personal names were interchangeable with party names without affecting the content. All three methods showing that it is the presentation, not the content, which has been personalized.At the same time, psychology-science tells us about the human brains associative learning processes, where memorizing becomes far more efficient when the information can be connected to an already known person. Tva? av filmerna komponerade jag musik till sja?lv och till de resterande tre filmerna komponerade jag musiken tillsammans med min klasskompis Eirik Røland.

Jag undersöker min värld genom de bilder jag skapar. Jag gestaltar den värld jag ser, för att dela den med betraktaren genom fotografi, video, text och ljud.

I have detected in the horror films that I've seen that when a religious organization is in a horror movie it's the Catholic church that gets to act as church and religion. I have chosen the following problem: How is the Catholic church presented in the horror movies The Exorcist and The Rite, and how can one understand these presentations from a role theoretic perspective?Since role theory has it's background in the world of the theater with it's actors and roles, it came naturally to use role theory, and specifically Goffmans dramatic model. I've used this model in a film analysis of the movies.

Syfte med denna uppsats är att undersöka hur lärare arbetar med att introducera skönlitteratur vid klassgemensam läsning. Uppsatsen tar också upp vilka eventuella konsekvenser lärarnas val av introduktion kan få för elevernas läsutveckling. Undersökningen baseras delvis på teorier kring hur elevers möjlighet att påverka valet av skönlitteratur kan påverka deras inställning till vad de läser, men i första hand grundar sig uppsatsen på forskning kring kontexten vari skönlitteraturen placeras och hur den påverkar elevernas läsning. För att uppnå syftet med uppsatsen genomfördes kvalitativa intervjuer med fem lärare verksamma i grundskolans år 7?9.

Syftet med den här studien är att synliggöra hur BTI-metoden används i förskolans och förskoleklassens pedagogiska verksamhet och sätta det i relation till förskolans och förskoleklassens läroplan och gällande skollag. Syftet är också att få en förståelse för hur en pedagogisk interventionsteknisk metod riktad mot en individ, kan påverka förskolans och förskoleklassens pedagogiska verksamhet. Vi har tittat på tidigare studier som gjorts kring användandet av BTI men det finns väldigt lite forskning på det här området. De teoretiska utgångspunkterna består av Skinners teori operant betingning som kommer från behaviorismen och den sätter vi i relation till ett sociokulturellt perspektiv och ett hälsoperspektiv. I analysen problematiserar vi kring de konsekvenser en pedagogisk interventionsteknisk metod kan få för förskolans och förskoleklassens verksamhet med hjälp av dessa teorier och vår empiri.

The point of the study is to investigate educational and vocational counselors' strategies on drop in calls. In order to answer the purpose, the issues concerning the educational and vocational counselors' strategies and guidance models/methods at drop-in calls investigated.Qualitative interviews were conducted with six educational and vocational counselors'.In the study it appears that the educational and vocational counselors' are unable to have any strategies for drop-in conversation because the applicant will come spontaneously and the educational and vocational counselors' lack information about the individual and its purpose of the interview. Guidance models/methods designed to facilitate for the applicant and give them a sense of understanding about them selves there environment and results in a clarification of the election, not often used during the drop-in calls.These are not often used due to the lack of time because the intention of the call is to provide with information to the applicant in as little time as possible. Syftet med denna studie var att undersöka hur lärare på gymnasienivå ställer sig till att använda populärkultur och medier i sin undervisning. Undersökningen behandlar vilka attityder som finns, vilken roll populärkulturen och medieanvändandet spelar i undervisningen och hur de tror att eleverna tänker kring användandet i undervisningen. Studien behandlar fyra olika områden av populärkultur och medier: TV, film, tidningar och Internet.Denna undersökning har underbyggts av sex stycken intervjuer med olika lärare på gymnasienivå. Intervjuerna har givit en frihet för resonemang och utläggningar, men samtidigt innehållit specifika och kompletterande frågor. I have studied Elizabeth?s character based on semiotic and narratological methods.Main results: Film as a media possesses the full potential to change traditional gender roles, but the full subversion is denied due to the heterosexual matrix.
