To be able to plan for the expansion of a town, one needs a vision of the future appear-ance of the town. It is the current issues (social situation, supply and demand, political control etc.) which decide what the ideal for town planning is. This is turn is the steering factor of the physical structure of the town. Therefore, the town's structure is decided by these ideals.In this report, I will present planning ideals that have historically been, and which criticisms that have been directed towards them. With reference to these issues, I will present those guidelines and ideals we have today for planning of our towns.

Flygfänas skog is a project where illustration meets spatiality. The work is about how section 62of the Children and Youth Hospital (BUS), at Skåne University Hospital, in Lund can useillustration as a compliment to their premises. Today, the hospital has difficulties to deal with theolder children patients at the hospital in a good way because the expression that is there today,mostly only appeals to the younger patients. Previously, there has been some kind of decorationon the department and the staff thought that this is boring, is a problem in that in many placesthere are stickers of child characters posted on the walls. This and other installations that cut outletters, face off, and symbols have made sense in the department becomes fragmented, ill andchildish.

Places like nightclubs or pubs are frequently visited in order to find partners for love, sex and relationships. This study examins behavioral patterns and trends among young adults in these environments. A computer-based questionnaire has been implemented on entertainment establishments - two studentclubs, one youth club and three nightclubs - in Malmoe and Lund in southern Sweden. The emprical material contains at most 149 answers, and at least 109. Sex, love and relationships are less important than expected, but are still some of few big reasons for visiting nightclubs.

The aim of this master thesis is to show how the dissemination of scientific information took place and developed during the 19th century. The main focus is Lund University. Therefore I have formulated two questions: How did the five heads of the history department at Lund University publish their research findings in the 19th century? What factors in society influenced the scientific spreading of results in the 19th century? To assess the scientific reliability of the sources I have used a method based on source criticism and hermeneutics. The thesis covers important concepts such as the exchange of publications between the universities, commercium litterarium and Akademischer Tauschverein and also the development of Lund University yearbook.

Varumärken kan i dag vara allt från Findus, Pampers och ICA till Lunds kommun.På Lunds kommuns hemsida finns en länk som heter "Varumärket Lund" där man kan läsa om kommunens kännetecken.Vårt syfte har varit att identifiera vad som utgör Lunds varumärke, dels utifrån offentliga dokument, dels utifrån intervjuer med chefer i nyckelpositioner. Vi har även fokuserat på hur kommunens förvaltningar sprider varumärket internt.Med termen "varumärket Lund" menar vi genomgående alla de kännetecken, värden och profileringar som Lunds kommun framhåller. Varumärket rymmer en mängd olika begrepp vilket gör det relativt abstrakt och öppet för tolkning. Chefer som vi har intervjuat känner alla till varumärket men använder inte alltid denna term. De arbetar i olika stor utsträckning med varumärket samt anammar dess innehåll på olika sätt beroende på förvaltningens egen verksamhet..

Digitization is a concept that has become popular in terms of collections of old heritage-related material such as books, photographs and paper documents. This work is a study of the Swedish composer Allan Pettersson (1911?1980) and his personal archive stored at Section for Manuscripts and Music at Uppsala University Library. My issues are What happens to the archive of the digitized? Will there be a "new" archive of the digitized? What guidelines are Uppsala University Library using for their digitizing and how do they look? What will be the result after digitization? What about copyright and the material? Allan Pettersson's personal papers consist a large collection of sketches of musical notes, newspaper clippings and concert programs.

I denna uppsats presenteras en jämförande studie av tre gators rumsliga begriplighet (intelligibility). Studieobjekten är Trollebergsvägen, Karl XI-gatan och Öresundsvägen i Lund. Öresundsvägen är föremål för exploatering under kommande år. Här kommer det att skapas en mängd olika byggnader där olika grupper i samhället kan bosätta sig och leva. En rad nya företag kommer att etablera sig.

Syftet med denna uppsats har varit att undersöka och presentera hur ett SMS-baserat deklarationssystem har påverkat personalen på skatteverket. Frågeställningen har varit att utforska de förändringar som SMS-deklaration kan åstadkomma för personalen i skatteverkets kontor i Lund. Resultatet från studien visar att personalen har en positiv inställning till användandet av det nya systemet. Intervjuerna har tydligt visat oss att SMS-deklaration eller e-deklaration över huvudtaget har en nyckelroll i dagens deklarationsprocess. De viktigaste fördelarna är bättre effektivitet och enkelhet, som i sin tur ger en betydligt billigare tjänst.

Neighbourhood offices were established in the municipal of Lund by a decision in the municipal council 1999. During following years four offices opened in the surrounding villages; Veberöd, Genarp, Södra Sandby and Dalby. By using a goal oriented model and making interviews I study whether the offices reaches the goals of more effective service, developed IT-support, a stronger local democracy and a better feeling for service. The offices has improved the information to the citizens and efforts have been made to strengthen the local democracy but more complex matters can not be handled at the offices today, which is a disappointment for many involved.To explain the result of the evaluation I use Vedungs ?A general theory of public efforts result?.

Abstract: Purpose: The purpose of this study is to describe the situation for independent hotels. With a thorough case study of ?The Grand Hotel in Lund? ,our intentions is to gain knowledge about the demands a hotel must keep up with in order to be a successful independent hotel, in a market dominated by chain-constellations. Methodology: An abductive method is used as the study form the basis for hypothesis. The first part of the thesis, which describes the line of business, is based primary on secondary data.

This paper investigates the level of consciousness regarding to the diversity work in the municipalities of Malmö, Lund and Landskrona. The study focuses on persons in a middle management position connected to various spheres of activities in each municipality. A survey concerning each municipality's diversity plan, diversity work, recruiting process, education and knowledge was used to investigate the participants' consciousness. The survey poses similar questions regarding equality between the sexes to compare the results from each field. The paper presents an overview of the development of Sweden's labour market and society, and gives an account for the differences between immigrants and natives positions in the labour market.

This thesis analyses the problem of how to organise a multidisciplinary domain of knowledge like architecture. The study is both theoretical and empirical. The theoretical part include discussions of theories of knowledge organisation. Two different principles of classification were examined in relation to the domain itself, as well as in relation to the educational programme at the School of Architecture at Lund University and comparable schools in Sweden. The empirical part is a case study carried out at the School of Architecture at Lund University.

En studie om hastighetsbegränsningar i banöverbyggnaden och kontakledningsystemet på Västkustbanan Helingborg - Lund..

Digital långtidslagring är problematisk på grund av att digitala medier har relativt kort fysisk livslängd och ännu kortare teknisk livslängd. Denna uppsats handlar om hur ett antal arkiv i Lund hanterar denna problematik. Syftet med uppsatsen är att ge insyn i hur arkiv i praxis ställer sig till, och hanterar långsiktig digital bevaring. Vårt mål är att uppsatsen skall bidra med både information om praktisk användning av hanteringsstrategier för långsiktig digital bevaring, samt bidra med en bild om hur situationen ser ut för dem undersökta arkiven. Uppsatsen grundas på en kvalitativ undersökning av arkiven där semistrukturerade intervjuer används för att skapa en bild av arkivens situation när det gäller digital långtidslagring samt hur de hanterar problematiken.

The aim of the study was to examine how the public libraries participate in the integration of immigrants in the Malmö-/Lund region. Librarians and immigrants were interviewed about the services offered by the libraries in the area of multiculturalism and what kind of service that is requested by the immigrants. The interviews also included possibilities to contribute to increased knowledge among the native Swedish people about different cultures represented among immigrants in Sweden. From the qualitative analyses it is concluded that the libraries represented in the study contribute to the integration of immigrants. The respondents gave multiple examples of the libraries? usefulness in the integration process by offering immigrants possibilities to develop their knowledge in the Swedish language, and also to find information about the Swedish society and culture.
