?CSR and political consumption ? a study of Nike?s and Puma?s CSR-reports?The purpose of this dissertation is to examine if political consumption has influenced multinational corporations to improve their Corporate Social Responsibility reports and policies more, than a company who has not been a target for political consumption.This dissertation is a content analysis of Nike?s and Puma?s first (Nike 2001, Puma 2001) and latest (Nike 2007/09, Puma 2007/08) CSR- reports. Archie Carroll?s model of Corporate Social Responsibility is used as theoretical framework in this study. The model is used to focus on four areas within CSR; economic, legal, ethical and philanthropic.

The aim of this research is to find out what environmental impact a wave power park has on the Swedish west coast by creating a consultation paper (?Samrådsunderlag?) for the Lysekilproject at Uppsala University. To highlight the complexity of the problem a system analytic approach was used and illustrated by a Causal Loop Diagram.The overall assessment of the Lysekilprojects wave power park at the Swedish west coast is that it will have a low impact on the environment. This is due to the relative small size of the wave power park and some technical solutions made with the environmental aspect in mind. Artificial reefs and a sanctuary for marine species are effects created by the wave power park and in the longer term the impact will give access to an untapped source of renewable energy, wave energy.

Chinas government has a multifunctional program for a more sustainable forestry since 2000. This six key forest programs goal is to develop a more sustainable forest sector but also take environment consideration. The state forest administration in China has decided to create 5.8 million hectare of fast growing and high yield forest. Eucalyptus has showed to have good properties for pulp and timber production and therefore Eucalyptus plantations are under development in costal areas in southern China. By adding extra nutrients, growth can be enhanced in Eucalyptus plantations.

Studien har undersökt huruvida insynspersoner i svenska bolag tar till vara på den möjlighet till överavkastning som uppstår på grund av informationsasymmetrin mellan insynspersoner och utomstående. Vidare studeras utomståendes möjlihet att göra överavkastningar genom att analysera publicerad information rörande insynshandeln. Resultatet visar på att överavkastning är förekommande, samtliga eventfönster visar på överavkastning för köptransaktionerna. Säljtransaktionerna däremot ger vagare signaler och en mer ingående analys måste genomföras för att kunna använda sig av informationen. Analysen visar på att transaktionsstorleken är av störst vikt för uppmätt överavkastning, men även bolagets storlek är av betydelse.

Denna uppsats undersökte effekten av en optionsintroduktion på den underliggande aktieavkastningens volatilitet. Tidigare studier som gjorts i frågan visade på olika resultat. Denna studie utgick från en artikel av Bollen (1998). En modifierad marknadsmodell användes för att analysera det eventuella sambandet mellan optionsintroduktion och skift i aktieavkastningens volatilitet. Parametrarna i modellenskattades med maximum likelihood.

Uppsatsen syftar att analysera WTO:s tvistlösningsmekanism utifrån FSC/ETI-tvisten mellan EU och USA. Den avser vidare att redogöra för eventuella politiska och ekonomiska konsekvenser av handelsdispyten. FSC/ETI-tvisten har pågått sedan 70-talet och handlar om förbjudna exportsubventioner i den amerikanska skattelagstiftningen. Mot bakrund av tillämpningen av exportsubventioner redogör analysen innebörden av Subventionsavtalet samt problematiken mellan medlemsländernas WTO-åtaganden och deras nationella suveränitet. Resultatet av analysen är att FSC/ETI-tvisten har skapat politiska spänningar mellan EU och USA och den har påverkat förhandlingsbalansen i övriga handelsfrågor mellan parterna som förts fram till WTO:s tvistlösningsorgan.

This paper aims to deepen the understanding of how the European Council frames the climate crisis and its implications for political legitimacy and policymaking. The climate crisis is one of the most pressing challenges of our time, influencing not only environmental systems but also societal structures and governance. By analyzing the European Council?s framings during the 2019?2024 strategic agenda, this research investigates how political actors shape narratives to justify actions and policies in response to the climate crisis. Through a discourse analysis of official Council conclusions, using a framework drawing on six typologies of framing, the research examines the Council's evolving narrative in the context of multiple crises, including the COVID-19 pandemic and the war in Ukraine.

Gastric ulcer is a common disease among pigs in the whole world where an intensiveproduction occurs. It is mainly the upper region, the nonglandular region of the stomach thatis affected. Gastric ulceration is a disease with several risk factors. The factor that seems tohave the largest impact on the development of gastric ulceration is a small particle size of thefeed. The reported prevalence of gastric ulceration differs from 5 to 100 % and it is a largeherd-to-herd variation.

Uppsatsen avser att undersöka huruvida den nya rådgivningslagen kommer att uppfylla sitt syfte, det vill säga huruvida konsument-skyddet kommer att stärkas på den finansiella marknaden. Uppsatsen avser även att undersöka om denna eventuella förstärkning avkonsumentskyddet kommer att leda till en ökad effektivitet på den finansiella marknaden. Analysen visar på att lagen uppfyller sitt syfte genom att rådgivarens ansvar för brister i rådgivningen blir större i och med den nya lagen. Lagen ger rådgivaren incitament att verkapå ett sätt som gynnar konsumenten och i förlängningen också effektiviteten på den finansiella marknaden med en starkare samhällsekonomi som följd..

In May 2004 eight former communist countries (EU-8) with close historical trade ties to Russia joined the European Union. According to integration theory, we expect that Russia ? a so called third country ? in some cases may suffer from trade diversion due to this. This thesis focuses on the possible effects on Russian trade resulting from the 2004 eastern enlargement of the European Union. It aims to find out whether any evidence of trade diversion can be found.

As a small and land scarce country, effective waste management is ofoutmost importance in Singapore. In this study the production of biogasthrough anaerobic digestion from the organic fraction of municipal solidwaste (OFMSW) was compared to incineration of the waste. At the momentalmost all of the OFMSW in Singapore is incinerated. Three differentscenarios were compared to the reference scenario (incineration): one with alarge scale biogas plant that can treat half of all OFMSW in Singapore, onewith a medium scale biogas plant about 15 times smaller than the large oneand one with a small scale biogas plant that can treat waste from e.g. ashopping center or a food center.By using life cycle assessment (LCA) the different scenarios were comparedin terms of global warming potential (GWP), acidification, eutrophication,energy use and land use.

The automotive industry is today in a world of globalisation and external factors can influence the car companies and it is important that they progress with the people. When an external factor, as the oil price, increases dramatically, it will affect the economies in different matters. Other external factors are impacted by the oil price, for example inflation, unemployment and target rates. In addition, people are changing their preferences due to the attention of the environment. With this as the foundation the problem of the essay were divided into three aspects.

An investigation of the heat impact of laser cutting on the material properties when producing tensile and impact test specimens of different steel types of varying thickness has been performed. The purpose of the thesis project was to provide recommendations regarding how much material that needs to be milled from the laser cut edge before tensile and impact tests. The study has been performed partly by investigating the test specimens by heat camera when the specimens were cut in the laser cutting line and partly by performing hardness tests, investigation by microscopy, and tolerance and roughness measurements and tensile tests of the laser cut material and material produced in the traditional multi operation machine. The results show that the heat affected zone in the thicker materials is greater than previously thought of, and that the currently used recommendation has to be adjusted. The study clearly shows that the thicker the material, the greater the heat affected zone, independently of the steel type, since the thicker material takes longer time to cut.

Studien tittar på betydelsen av jordbruk för utveckling. Därefter fortsätter studien att titta på hur jordbrukets roll i Kambodja ser ut och finns det andra sätt som bättre lämpar sig för att Kambodja ska nå utveckling. Vi har lagt speciellt fokus på risodlingens roll som inkomst aktivitet. För att hitta svaren på frågorna tittar vi på två olika aspekter, economic development samt livelihood approaches. Economic development ser jordbrukets roll som en central del i utveckling av industri medan livelihood ser att det finns mer komplexa mönster i verkligheten att beakta för att utveckla ett land.

Uppsatsen undersöker vilken av den indirekta och den direkta metoden som bör användas vid prognostisering av den svenska inflationen baserat på kvartalsdata för perioden 1993:1-2005:4. Ytterligare en aspekt med uppsatsen är att ge ökad förståelse för hur inflationen i Sverige i allmänhet ska prognoostiseras. Prognoserna skapas med de respektive metoderna och jämförs därefter med faktisk inflation för att utvärdera vilken metod som ger minst prognosfel. De slutsatser som dras från undersökningen är att det inte är en av metod som strikt föredras vid prognostisering av den svenska inflationen. De metod som är bäst av den indirekta och den direkta beror på prognoshorisonten.
