We have chosen to write our thesis within a transport company. The work was carried out at DHL activities in Uppsala. DHL is one of the leading transport companies worldwide. Our interest lies in more efficient and advanced transportation and terminals, as globalization and new trends require effective solutions.The aim of our work is to explain the need for information technology applications in road haulage and associated terminal operations. Furthermore, we analyses terminal and applied information technology.

There is an ongoing process where the free market within the European Union is expanding, partly through the incorporation of new member states, partly through the signing of association agreements with nearby countries and regions. When trade barriers are removed in different ways more companies consider an internationalization of the company. However, the procedure of the internationalization of companies is a rather new and unexplored area in the context of research. The focus of this study is therefore to examine how a few companies situated in Sweden, has proceeded while searching for knowledge during the internationalization process. Data has been collected through interviews that have been balanced with information from Internet and other sources.

The  construction  industry  is  a  costly  business  such  in  respect  of  capital  for  most construction defects which then require rework, tear down and rebuild again. This study is  meaningful  awareness  of  tools  that  can  reduce  this  best  through  communication  and information sharing between the parties.  The  construction  industry  is  known  as  temporary  projects  organizations,  where  the construction  project  consists  of  several  actors  who  have  to  communicate  and  share information  between  them  to  avoid  mistakes  later  in  the  build  time.  These  actors  are bounded together thus for the duration of the project, then broken when the project has reached its end. The challenge here is for these actors to apply a tool that can help and simplify communications, information sharing, and perhaps the most important aspect is to  create  a  routine  for  the  association  and  the  shattering  of  these  actors.  To  implement such  behavior  using  a  tool  such  as  BIM  in  the  industry  whose  size  perhaps  is indescribable may be a very hard task.  BIM (Building Information Model) could be seen as the solution to this problem because it  acts  as  a  portal  where  the  actors  involved  must  sign  in  and  communicate,  share information, and eventually create a behavior, a routine for this association and division of  the  actors  following  the  end  of  the  project.  The  technology  could  help  the  involved from  the  beginning  of  the  project,  already  in  the  model  stage,  break  down  and  prevent any construction barriers when the building has been placed in the works.

The aim of this thesis was to study librarians approach upon reference questions and available resources and also to find out if there is any connection between the nature of the reference question and the choice of resource. The purpose was also to give a deeper understanding of the reference work. Nine librarians were given ten reference questions and their reference work was tape recorded. The study was completed with seven interviews sent by email. Some of the reflections were translated under the headlines of form, subject, time, language and availability.

Teknisk komplicerade produkter såsom datorer, digitalkameror och mobiltelefoner har blivit en del av vardagen, vilket även har breddat gruppen av konsumenter. Detta betyder att tillverkare och försäljare har en större marknad att rikta sig till och att man måste anpassa och ändra sina vanor för hur man presenterar produkterna. Många av de nya konsumenterna är inte intresserade av teknisk information utan är mer intresserade av funktionen hos produkterna. Studien undersöker kvalitet och kvantitet av information och försöker utreda hur graden av informationsöverlastning påverkas när dessa förändras. Genom att förändra antalet attribut och mängden komplicerad information mäts urvalskvalitet och urvalseffektivitet samt subjektiva gensvar hos försökspersonerna.

Denna uppsats synliggör asylsökande barns rätt till information och rätt att komma till tals ut-ifrån den teoretiska utgångspunkten barnperspektiv som denna uppsats utgår ifrån. Vilken in-formation barnen har fått ta del av, och om och när barnen får komma till tals på Migrationsverket diskuteras i denna uppsats. Migrationsverket har uppmärksammat att myndigheten inte har riktad information till asylsökande barn. Detta ledde till projektet Riktad information till asylsökande barn startades, för att framställa informationsmaterial till asylsökande barn.

Den svenska lagstiftningen lägger en stor del av ansvaret och kostnaderna för källsortering på hushållen trots att det inte finns några formella tvång. Den här uppsatsen bygger på en enkätundersökning som utförts på hushåll i Linköping och undersöker varför många hushåll frivilligt källsorterar och bidrar till den kollektiva nyttan miljön. Detta analyseras först utifrån individens ansvarskänsla för miljön, där syftet är att undersöka om detta kan fungera som en förklarande faktor till att individer källsorterar. För att få in ytterligare ett perspektiv på analysen beaktas även individens uppfattning om att han gör nytta när han källsortera, genom ett experiment där respondenterna får ta ställning till hur han förhåller sig till källsortering efter ny kritisk information.Respondenternas uppfattning om att källsortering är miljövänligt verkar ha betydelse för deras motivation till att källsortera. Vidare kan ansvarskänslan och vilken information respondenterna har tillgång till mycket väl vara viktiga faktorer för deras källsortering, även om detta inte med säkerhet går att visa i undersökningen..

This thesis was built on a practical work for LM Ericsson Data AB and deals with how toexamine an information need for a limited department within the corporation using aqualitative interview method.The thesis deals with how to search for requested information on the Internet and the WorldWide Web (WWW). It contains a model and a method for evaluation of search engines onthe World Wide Web, and 16 search engines which primarily indexes the World Wide Webare being evaluated..

The systems environments of today are often distributed and heterogeneous. These kind of systems have several advantages but also disadvantages. One problem is how to keep them secure.The security problems in these environments are mainly due to the communication between the connected computers. It is relatively easy to tap these communication channels from information. There is also a need for the possibility to secure these channels from modification of sent information and to be able to verify the sender and receiver of information in a secure manner.

The purpose of this thesis is to examine if academic libraries market e-journals, and if so how this work is carried out. The ambition is to study what channels and methods the Libraries use, to inform their users that they have access to e-journals. The aim is also to survey if the libraries evaluate the use of the e-journals, and if so how. The objectives of the work are reached by using two main methods, document analysis and qualitative interviews. The study has been performed on three university libraries.

Det här arbetet har som huvudsyfte att belysa och ta fram vilka motiv det finns till att implementera datalager. Datalager är en teknik för att ta fram beslutsstödssystem där slutanvändarna själva tar fram sin information. Ett beslutsstödssystem har till uppgift att ge beslutsfattare (slutanvändare) information om en hel eller delar av en organisation. I introduktionen förklaras närmare vad ett beslutsstödssystem och datalager är för någonting samt ges exempel på i vilka sammanhang datalager används. En förklaring ges också till den historiska utvecklingen mot datalagerFör att få fram motiven har intervjuer genomförts hos fyra stycken företag som implementerat datalager.

The purpose of this study is to increase the understanding of how venture capitalists can use their network in order to reduce information asymmetries between themselves and the venture management team. A qualitative approach with semi-structured interviews, consisting of open questions, have been used to receive gradate information in order to reach our explorative purpose. Our theoretical framework consists of relevant studies made on the dynamics of networks and the problems that can arise in the complex relationship between a principal and an agent. We have been interviewing two venture capital firms and therepresentatives from two business angel networks. We also made an additional interview with an influential financial actor in order to try to verify our conclusions Our conclusions are that an extensive network can be used by venture capitalists in order to; verify ventures? technologies, complement the competences in the venture management team, and arrange co-investments, resulting in reduced information asymmetries between themselves and the venture management team.

Syfte: Att undersöka hur kvinnor med diabetes typ-1 upplever informationen före och i samband med graviditet samt omvårdnaden i samband med graviditet. Metod: Semistrukturerade intervjuer med sju kvinnor genomfördes och innehållet analyserades med tematisk analysmetod för att få fram kategorier och subkategorier. Resultat: Majoriteten av kvinnorna fick information gällande graviditet i samband med behandlingen av sin diabetessjukdom av hälsovården innan de blev gravida. Många av kvinnorna upplevde att fokus under graviditeten låg på blodsockerkontrollerna och att barnmorskorna på specialistmödravården fokuserade på diabetessjukdomen och glömde mödravården. Informationen på specialistmödravården upplevdes som bristande eller saknades helt och kvinnorna valde att söka information själva.

This paper deals with the use of Internet at Swedish public libraries. The author asks whether public libraries should or should not limit access to information available on the Internet. Starting from the American discussion, concerning Internet at public libraries, the author shows the Swedish attitudes. The paper demonstrates that many Swedish public libraries have adopted rules forbidding retrieval of certain kinds of information, such as hard-core pornography and racist propaganda. The persons in charge of such actions claim that public libraries should provide high-quality educational literature and should not spread mass-produced, provocative information.
