The purpose of this essay is to investigate the policy proposal The right to Challenge (utmaningsrätt) and the political motivation that has been used to implement it, as well as the result of it. The focus is on a case study of the implementing in Örebro municipality. Moreover, a comparative study is done to investegate the differences and similarities between Örebro and other municipalities that have chosen to implement The right to Challenge.The main question in this essay is How did Örebro?s municipality implement it and what was the result? There is also four minor questions: How was The right to Challenge motivated and what hopes did the politicans have for it? What has The right to Challenge so far contributed with in Örebro municipality? What do the entreprenures think about their oppertunity to challenge the municipality? What similarities and differences exists between Örebro and other municipalities that have chosen to implement The right to Challenge?The results that are presented in this essay generate conclusions that the implementing of The right to Challenge was motivated with arguments that it will result in increased Diversity, improved efficiency, and reduced costs. This has however not been the case since very few challenges have been submitted, most likely due to a lack of promotion.

Title: The municipal school of arts and music - "a school for everyone?" - A study of the accessibility of "Kulturskolor", focusing on the absence of fees. The aim of this thesis is to increase the understanding of a complex of problems concerning broadened recruitment of students and teachers in "Kulturskolor". I have chosen to focus on three schools of performing arts offering programs free of charge to ascertain how they work with broadened recruitment and to see what effects they have achieved by having no fees. I have examined these schools through a qualitative study where I have interviewed the principals and teachers from each school.

It is said that libraries are the cornerstones of democracy.What is then the democratic mandate, and how is itperceived by the library staff? That's what I examine in thismaster's thesis. I?ve made 14 phone interviews with librarystaff, from assistants to managers, and examined what theirdaily work routine looks like and what they think belongs tothe democratic mandate. I found that all agree that there is ademocratic mandate, but it is not clearly stated in anydocument.I found seven areas that my respondents saw as part of themandate; availability, Diversity, children and young people,equality, public education, free of law and cultural history.These are not sharply defined, but can often move into oneanother.

Syftet med studien är att intervjua ledare och klarlägga deras åsikter: i) om hur de ser på mångfald, ii) hur de anser att organisationen de arbetar i ser på mångfald och iii) hur de själva ser på sin chefs-/ledarroll. Uppsatsen är genomförd i en kvalitativ metod utifrån en fenomenologisk ansats. Sju inter­vjuer av ledare i en statlig kunskapsorganisation har genomförts. Intervjuerna har varit ostrukture­rade och har utgått från temana: mångfald, ledarskap och organisation. Resultatet visar ett ledarskap som främst ser mångfald utifrån kön men även i viss mån ålder och etnicitet.

A study has been conducted on how organizations in Sweden administer costs of facilities management services internally. There are three main theoretical methods for administering costs. In the first method, costs are maintained on a central level; in the second method, costs are allocated and in the third method, internal transfer pricing is used. The aim of the study is to identify which methods are applied in practice, to evaluate whether the methods fulfill their intended purposes and to study the relationship between the methods used and the cost level of facilites management services. In practice, a large Diversity of methods are used for facilities management costs.

In 1994 a new Forestry Act was accepted in Sweden. One of its aims was to raise the consideration for preservation of bioDiversity. Since this happened over 15 years ago there is now an interest in analyzing if the law has been effective in its purpose. In this study methods suitable for analysis are being investigated. The study contents a pilot study of methods for five parameters that can validate if the law has been followed.

För att mångfalden av människor i arbetslivet ska kunna tillvaratas, uppskattas och erkännas krävs ett organisationsklimat ochettledarskap som möjliggör detta. Syftet med denna studie är att undersöka hur ett meningsskapande kring mångfald kommer tilluttryck inom Sveriges Television, då produkten ska nå en mångfaldig publik.Sveriges Television är ett public service-företag vars uppdrag är att nå ut till tv-tittare i hela Sverige, vilket förutsätter en mångfaldig produkt. Åtta semistrukturerade intervjuer har genomförts med anställda på Sveriges Television. Intervjuerna har transkriberats och resultatet hartolkats utifrån Piagets konstruktivistiska lärandeteori och Mezirows teori om transformativt lärande. Våra viktigaste resultat visar att det som upplevs som meningsskapande kommer till uttryck i relationen mellan det som anses värdefullt och det lärande som de anställda får ta del av.

The purpose of this essay is on the one hand to study Sub-Saharan Africa from a comparative perspective to analyze different explanations to democratization and on the other hand to compare the democratization of the most interesting cases found. To fulfil the purpose, the essay is divided into a quantitative and a qualitative part. The quantitative part starts from four different theories of democratization and thus has a deductive theory testing approach. We intend to use four theories: the modernization theory, the theory of stable institutions as a prerequisite for democratization, political culture and ethnic Diversity as an obstacle for democratization, to test how they correspond with the democratic situation in Africa, and at the same time find deviant cases. The second part of the study takes its start from an inductive perspective and examines institutions and citizens of the deviant cases.

Literature is an important part of the daily activity in preschool and it is also a powerful tool for reinforcing different norms.The purpose of this study is to explore, through qualitative interviews, for what purpose pedagogues in preschool use literature in their daily activity and what needs these pedagogues see for non-heteronormativity literature. The study also relates the needs that pedagogues see with the basic values presented in the Swedish National Curriculum for preschool.Literature is used in preschool for a wide range of purposes including; enriching the language, getting familiarized with the written language, show Diversity, reinforce norms on how to be a good friend, as a starting-point for discussion, working with a theme or to have a fun time.The needs that the pedagogues see for non-heteronormativity literature can be divided in to three categories namely there is always a need, there is only a need when somebody requires that kind of literature to identify themselves with or there is only a need when somebody is being discriminated because of not belonging to the heteronorm.The need for non-heteronormativity literature being there always corresponds with the basic values in the Swedish National Curriculum for preschool and the recommendation that the basic values are visible in the daily activity of the preschool. The other needs doesn?t correspond with this, but it matches other parts of the Swedish National Curriculum for preschool..

This thesis is based on a conversation about gender identity and the pronoun hen in an episode of the radio programme Tendens on Swedish public radio, P1. The participants of the conversation are a scholar and a journalist/show-host. The goal of the research has been to analyse how the conversation is constructed from its context and which topics that occur. The goal of the research has also been to analyse how the participants of the conversation position themselves and how the conversation composes and re-composes norms and values regarding gender identity in society. Critical discourse analysis, completed by Conversation analysis has been the theoretical and methodological approach.

The aim of this study is to examine the existence of norms in three Spanish textbooks intended for upper secondary school in Sweden. One category of norms, gender norms, is selected for analysis. The focus of the analysis is on how gender norms are represented in the textbooks. The concept of gender also includes - in addition to the relation between man och woman - ethnicity, sexuality and disability. The three analysed textbooks are Caminando 3, Vistas 3 and El Sur paso 3.

It is about the frustrations that I, as a pedagogue, experience when I cannot fulfill this mission. An example of this is working when understaffed.My purpose is the acknowledgment of two main areas of the curriculum: caring and learning. This essay demonstrates the Diversity of the occupation and it ?s constant need of positioning.

The aim of this study was to examine what impact restored and constructed pounds and wetlands have on waterfowls in the area of Linköping. The birdlife in five constructed wetlands werechosen to investigate if specific factors like age, size and vegetation affected the avian Diversity in wetlands. Also, extra focus has been given to the threatened Horned Grebe (Podiceps Auritus), breeding in the studied area. The results showed that the number of species as well as individuals of waterfowl and Horned Grebe changed over time in what might be a result of succession in the wetlands. Comparing the number of birds to the size of the wetlands showed a clear correlation. Larger areas inhabited greater numbers of species and individuals.

The purpose of the study is to contribute knowledge about the representation of fiction authors who have written in languages other than Swedish in educational school books within the Swedish subject. This is done in relation to the school's promotion of cultural Diversity, a globalized world and to the Swedish curriculum. The study is a combination of a qualitative and a quantitative analysis that takes its starting point in six educational books for the courses Swedish 1 and 2. The analysis shows that all study materials include a broad representation of authorships from Europe and the USA. The selection of authors from other parts of the world is, however, limited.
