Confusion can be a life threatening condition that is often missed by the nurses, thus it occurs in the same range as pain, fever or infections. Aim: The aim of this study was to describe the phenomenon of confusion among elderly patients, in order to establish a wider understanding of the patient's nursing needs. Method: Literature study based on scientific material. Results: The result showed the patient's ability to recollect and reconstruct episodes of confusion. During the confusion the stories contained a wide variety of experiences, such as threat, fear, suspicion, chaos and order, unreal experiences, a need to escape and a bad sleep.

Since the spring 2003 the tenant-owner home association the Terrace in Upplands Väsby municipality lies straight under the approach route to Arlanda Airport?s new third landing chute. This essay is a time-geographic study of workinglife mobilities and investigates two days of work for five respondents. One from home and the other from the persons workingplace. Qualitative and quantitative methods has been applied to illustrate and analyze the two days along with time-geographic constraints. The findings are concluded into themes which represent the two local pockets of order: Home and Workplace. Themes of home are: Comfort station, Household, Curtained-off, Tele-contact and Environment.

This report focuses on the upper slit. The upper slit is located between the impeller andthe drive unit. The slit design depends on pump type and application. However it isuncertain why the design varies, The purpose of this report is to clarify why the designvaries and to recommend an improved slit design.A research has been done; information was gathered from interviews, but also fromsearching of databases and studies of drawings, reports and documents. The originalpurpose of the slit was to prevent twining around the driveshaft, and prevent dirt fromentering the cooling system.

Syftet med denna litteraturstudie var att undersöka patientens upplevelse av livskvalitet efter överviktsoperation samt främjande omvårdnadsåtgärder. Metod: Litteratursökning utfördes i PubMed och Cinahl med Full Text. Sökord var följande: Bariatric, Bariatric Surgery, Quality of life, Bariatric patient, nursing, postoperative care samt treatment outcome. Dessa sökningar kompletterades med manuella sökningar. Efter genomgång avseende inklusions- och exklusionskriterier valdes sammanlagt 16 artiklar ut för denna litteraturstudie.

Choir singing is one of the most popular national movements in Sweden but the knowledge of the meaning of this activity for health and well being from the choir singers? own experiences is limited. The purpose of this study was therefore to develop useful knowledge about the meaning of choir singing for participating persons from a health perspective. The data was collected through qualitative interviews with six different choir singers and went after that through a comprehensive analysis which resulted in four main categories: an oasis in the existence; possibilities of meetings and solidarity; goals and musical development; and physical and emotional well-being. The results showed that the choir activity represents a place where the singers can escape the demands and the stress factors of everyday life and where they get the opportunity of meaningful relations with other people.

Bakgrund: Tidigare präglades vården utifrån ett synsätt, där vårdgivaren styrde över vården. Detta synsätt har successivt övergått till att patienten bör vara mer delaktig och fatta egna beslut. Information påverkar även graden av delaktighet och förmågan att fatta beslut självständigt. Patientens delaktighet i vården styrks i patientlagen och sjuksköterskan har ett ansvar att bjuda in patienten till delaktighet. Syftet: Att beskriva patientens upplevelser av delaktighet i vården.

In the care for the critically ill patient the next of kin is of great importance. Their support, love and care for the patient, increases the wellbeing and makes a connection to the patient?s normal lifeworld. For the next of kin to be able to be that support the next of kin needs to be helped to maintain the basic need of for example their sleep, food, hygiene and psychosocial support. The critical care nurse must see to the patient?s whole lifeworld which includes their next of kin.The aim of the study was to identify the resources available for the next of kin in intensive care units in Sweden.

Syftet med studien var att undersöka patientupplevelsen vid behandling med sömnapnéskena hos patienter med diagnosen obstruktiv sömnapné utförda i allmän tandvårdspraxis. Studien genomfördes som en tvärsnittsundersökning i en av de större regionerna i Sverige, region Skåne. Undersökningen var retrospektiv i sin design och bestod av en enkät sänd till de patienter med en verifierad obstruktiv sömnapné som fått sin odontologiska behandling som ett led i sjukdomsbehandling. Behandlingen skulle ha pågått minst 6 månader. Enkäten skickades ut till 1148 patienter, varav 738 svarade (64 %).

Sömnen är livsviktig för alla människor eftersom det är den tid då kroppen återhämtar sig och behovet av sömn blir därför speciellt viktigt vid sjukdom. Forskning har visat att sjukhusmiljön inte alltid är optimal för att främja sömn, något som vi själva också upplevt under kliniska studier. Syftet med studien var att klargöra vilken betydelse sömn har och hur sömnen kan förstås i relation till hälsa och välbefinnande för patienten i sjukhusmiljön. Studien är en begreppsanalys där sömn har sökts och analyserats i lexikon, vetenskapliga artiklar och facklitteratur. Resultatet visar att sömnen är den tid då kroppen samlar kraft och immunförsvaret byggs upp.

This study investigated the effects of rubber alley flooring on cow locomotion, claw and leg health, production, cleanliness, grooming behaviour and cow exclusion rate in a free stall herd. The study was conducted in a new dairy house with a rotary milking system, with a matched group of cows on traditional scraped concrete alleys used for comparison. All claws were trimmed and lesions recorded at the beginning and end of the 4-month study. Länsförsäkringar in Värmland, Sweden, had during the year 2003 a total level of 6.1 percent of people on the sick-list, which was higher than average in the business (4,5%) and for salaried employees in the private sector (3,3%). The average age of those put on sick-list was 47 years, whish is four years higher than the average for the whole LF-group. The cost for the total amount of people being on sick-list at LF-company (6,1%) was estimated to 1 500 kkr, according to a calculation model coming from Försäkringskassan. For every percent the sick level could be reduced, the company would save 239 kkr. To map out the state of health of each and every collaborator in LF, the company offered all employees to make a health profile at the company's health service, Clarahälsan AB.

BackgroundMigraine is a comprehensive endemic disease who is affecting both women and men, but with higher prevalence among women because of hormonal factors. Risk factors for the disease are female gender, hereditariness, depression and socio-economic factors. Migraine can be triggered by factors like stress, menstruation, irregular routines for sleep and unbalanced meals and diet. Migraine is a condition that causes a big suffering for the affected individuals.AimThe aim of this study was to describe individuals' experiences of how migraine is affecting the daily life, out of the aspects like working life, family life and social life.MethodA literature overview was maintained, and eight qualitative studies and two quantitative studies between the years 2003- 2014 were analyzed.ResultsThe analysis of the articles lead to one main theme; "Guilt, compensating and restrictions" and seven subthemes "Not being able to perform their best", "Met with incomprehension", "Not being able to take care of home and children", "Not enough", "Avoiding activities", "Always be prepared" and "Living with restrictions".ConclusionMigraine is affecting the daily life among these individuals in a great extent. The disease makes it hard to perform well at work.

This report deals with RFID systems and how to detect nearby tags with the Mifare standard using only a microcontroller and an antenna circuit.The aim was to investigate whether there was any possibility to continuously search for a nearby tag for a system operated with batteries without compromising   the lifespan of the battery. At this time the system would take too long time to wake up and look for a tag to give a satisfactory battery lifespan, which should be done a couple of times every second.The report has two issues, namely:Is it possible to direct the microprocessor to detect and identify a nearby tag after the Mifare standard?What hardware is required for this to be possible?As the research method to provide answers to the above questions an action research was used. This approach has meant that the group worked on information retrieval, examined existing solutions, tested their own solutions and documented the results.The group examined an existing solution that can search for nearby tags with minimal energy consumption. An antenna circuit was built that was connected to the processor.

BAKGRUND: Sömn är ett mänskligt behov som behövs för kroppens läkning. Patienterupplever ofta att sömnen inte blir tillfredsställd på sjukhus. Faktorer som uppges ge endålig sömn på sjukhus är miljön, kroppslig och emotionell påverkan hos patienten samtsjuksköterskans arbete. Det är viktigt att sjuksköterskan har kunskaper om åtgärder somfrämjar patienters sömn.SYFTE: Syftet är att beskriva åtgärder som sjuksköterskan kan tillämpa för att främjapatienters sömn på sjukhus.METOD: En litteraturstudie där tio vetenskapliga artiklar analyserades. Datainsamlingenoch analysförfarandet utgick från Fribergs (2006) modell för litteraturöversikter.RESULTAT: Ur analysen framkom fyra teman; beröring, avkoppling genom att lyssna påmusik, reducering av ljud och ljus samt att tillgodose patientens individuella önskemål ochfysiologiska behov.
