The main goal of this bachelor thesis is to present why boys and girls choose to enroll at the Swedish Baseball and Softball Academy, a form of sport profiled education given within the Swedish high school system. A secondary purpose is to present the types of expectations the adolescents have before enrollment, while also examining what they encounter as satisfaction factors during their time at the academy. The results show that the significant factors critical for the eventual enrollment are friends, passion and development within baseball or softball. Before the enrollment, students have expectations of good, quality and hard practices. The students state that factors such as friends and the community where the academy is located is important for their wellbeing and comfort.

Thesis purpose: The purpose of the master thesis is to analyse the battle of meaning creation regarding the notion of smoking and to reveal the production of unequal power relations. The battle is fought by different stakeholders through means of language and the study focuses on the tobacco industry in Germany. Methodology: A critical discourse analysis is applied with a qualitative research strategy. Our data collection was inspired by grounded theory and is limited in scope through a relevant case within the context of smoking in Germany. Empirical data is collected by means of an internet based document study of publicly available texts.

Today?s cell phones include more and more functionality, it is no longer uncommon to be able to connect to the Internet or take photos with the cell phone. In this thesis the question is if the cell phone users are interested in this new functionality. Are there people who are interested in a cell phone that in this thesis is called ?Basmobilen? (the entry level phone), which include the following functions; phone call, SMS, phone book, calling lists, clock and the possibility to change the call signal.

This essay is a study of how teachers in social studies relate to three central curriculum concepts; cultural diversity, swedish culture and common cultural heritage.Through unstructured interviews, I have taken part of two practicing school teachers interpretations and understandings of the concepts and their practical approach for teaching about identity. An area mentioned in the core content of the courses Social studies 1a1 and Social Studies 1b.The conclusion of my study is that teachers interpret the key concepts in a transparent manner. It is believed that the main task is to problematize the concepts rather than define them. In contrast to this, the practical teaching is largely based on normative values. An open discussion and a normative practice can be said to balance right on the border between the schools values ??and the demands of the curriculum on transposition of the current culture..

This paper is an account of the work around the arrangement and registration of the archive of the Swedish Art-ists? Association?s archive. The Swedish Artists? Association is an association of artists that both makes exhibi-tions for their members? works and handles the Artists? House, called Konstnärshuset in Swedish. During the work with the archive the author faced a number of challenges and problems.

Studiens övergripande syfte är att undersöka på vilket sätt föräldrar, med annat modersmål, vill vara delaktiga och få möjlighet till inflytande i verksamheten och hur pedagogerna på enheten förhåller sig till och arbetar med detta. Ett mer specifikt syfte är att undersöka vilken innebörd begreppen delaktighet och inflytande har, för de ovan nämnda grupperna. Studiens frågeställningar är följande: På vilket/vilka sätt önskar föräldrar bli delaktiga och få inflytande i verksamheten? Hur ser föräldrar och pedagoger på begreppen delaktighet och inflytande inom förskolan?  Hur arbetar pedagogerna för att ge föräldrar förutsättningar till delaktighet och inflytande? Undersökningsförfarandet är av kvalitativ art, där elva föräldrar och nitton pedagoger får svara på öppna frågor i enkätform, vilka utgör grunden för studiens resultat. Resultatet visar att de flesta föräldrar är nöjda med de olika forum för delaktighet och inflytande, som för närvarande erbjuds, men att de behöver utformas på ett annorlunda sätt.

Det här examensarbetet utfördes från februari till mitten av april, våren 2010 på företaget Junebud. Jag arbetade efter hypotesen att en stark närvaro på sociala medier har en positiv effekt på aktiviteten på spelets hemsida samt för att få nya spelare att hitta till spelet. Spelet som marknadsfördes heter MilMo och är ett socialt massivt multiplayer spel för barn och ungdomar, som är gratis att spela. Om spelaren vill få tillgång till extra material kan han/hon betala en mindre summa pengar men något köptvång föreligger ej för att endast spela. För att genomföra marknadsföringen på de sociala medierna valdes fyra stycken nätverk på Internet ut; Facebook, Deviantart, MySpace och Youtube.

Prior research in human bird relations is relatively small and discussion about bird ecology in relation to humans is largely not discussed. The study means to understand how a difference in usage of birds and symbolization of a bird occurs. This will be answered through analysis of two bird species. The study uses three different sources of material to conclude its answers. The sources are graves with bones of predatory birds, material culture representing bird motifs and historical sources discussing mythology.

I have used a discourse analysis as a method and queertheori for the theoretical. In this paper I have analyzed how different wedding magazines write about partnerships, gender-neutral marriage and wedding between homosexuals. I have for some time been interested in the beliefs wedding magazines have about homosexuality and how newspapers maintain heteronormativity implicitly and explicitly. Bridal magazines are anxious to have the marriage as a design and standard when they write about partnership. When they write about the two different forms of marriage, they glorify the religious marriage and pay no attention to civil marriage.

Antalet registrerade EU-mopeder har ökat till 49000 sedan den infördes 1999 och med det också fler olyckor. Statistik från Försäkringsförbundet 2002 visar att 1/3 av 16 förolyckande mopedförare EU-moped. Polisen känner frustration över att inte kunna komma åt trimmade mopeder. Tanken är att belysa unga mopedförares attityder och beteende till trafiksäkerhet. Vi har haft diskussion med ungdomar på fritidsgårdar och delat ut enkäter till högstadieelever samt att vi har hittat relaterad litteratur och rapporter vid Universitetsbiblioteket, på Internet och Intrapolis.

Syftet med studien är att undersöka förskollärarens syn på användningen av surfplattor i verksamheten. Digitala verktyg så som surfplattor är ett aktuellt ämne att undersöka då det tar allt större plats i förskolornas verksamhet. Studien bygger på kvalitativa intervjuer med tre förskollärare och en förskolechef, alla på ett eller annat sätt involverade i användningen av surfplattor i förskolan. Tidigare forskning om digitala verktyg, lärande och dokumentation ligger till grund i uppsatsen. Även det teoretiska begreppet ANT (Actor Network Theory) kommer att belysas.

Syfte: Syftet med undersökningen är att utforska de pedagogiska möjligheter som använd-ningen av iPad som pedagogiskt verktyg i förskolan öppnar för barn i behov av särskilt stöd för att utveckla kommunikation, samspel och delaktighet.Teori: Studien utgår från ett sociokulturellt perspektiv med aktivitetsdiamanten som teori. Metod: Studien är utifrån en hermeneutisk ansats med en kvalitativ karaktär. Empirin har samlats in genom observationer och samtal/intervjuer. Resultat: För att de sex barn i behov av särskilt stöd som deltog i studien skulle uppnå delak-tighet med hjälp av en iPad visade resultatet på att pedagogerna behövde vara närvarande under iPadaktiviteten. När iPaden användes av fler än ett barn fungerade iPaden som en bro för att bygga kommunikation och på så vis samspel.

AbstractThe aim of this essay is to analyse what roll repression has had in the making of my unpublished collection of poems entitled Hopp som i hare. I examine how the autobiographical subject abortion has influenced the writing process and the outcome of the poems. By presenting literature that?s been important in the making of the collection I show some thoughts and ideas about Post Abortion Stress Disorder, a diagnosis without scientific grounds. In a discussion I go through the whole writing process from subject and genre choice through the revisions till the final version that were sent to be commented by the class in creative writing at Växjö University 2008.

Konsumtion har i dagens samhälle fått en allt större betydelse för människan och vissa menar att vi bygger upp hela vår identitet kring varumärken. Samtidigt får internet allt större inflytande och har blivit ett viktigt socialt forum. Tillsammans skapar detta nya möjligheter för gemenskaper och kulturer baserade i konsumtion att utvecklas på internet. För individer vars identitet skapas i konsumtion kan detta påverka själva identitetsskapandet. Då forskning också visat att autenticitet, coolhet och exklusivitet i högre utsträckning efterfrågas idag blir detta centralt att undersöka i ett socialt sammanhang på internet.

From a democratic point of view the existing organisation with municipality sections in the city of Malmö, Sweden will be examined. The matter of how an alternative organisation should be structured will also be discussed. Two incompatible models of democracy theories will be arranged: libertarian democracy and participation democracy. The intentions with the reform were primary to increase the civic participation. By applying those values that are used to characterize participation democracy it will be shown whether the local participation has actually increased.
