This thesis on the sustainable urban development has the intent to discuss the conservator?s position in alteration of the built environment. An essential component of the thesis consists of a case study in the form of an entry in an open architectural competition for the development of Furuset, an urban residential area in Norway. The thesis? discussion is based on two approaches to change and socio-economic transformations, considered being dominant within the heritage theory and practice: the production of ideas and great narratives and conservation as an instrumental tool.

This thesis aims to study how teachers develop pupils' motivation to read. Using qualitative interviews, three Swedish middle school teachers describe their experiences regarding pupils' motivation to read. They comment on how they attempt to stimulate motivation and the conditions and circumstances they experience while carrying out their work. As a basis for the teacher interviews, their pupils completed a web based survey about how they value reading as an activity and how they see themselves as readers. An analysis of the interviews raises several issues for discussion: pupils have different needs, good readers are described through their abilities, not through their experiences or reading habits, and teachers feel they can be limited to implement the teaching they think is necessary to promote reading abilities.

This paper examines the opportunities of landscape architect students to integrate with other students which are related to the landscape architects vocational field during their education. It also involves a discussion about the profession of landscape architects and the view of landscape architect students concerning who they will work with in their professional career. Six qualitative interviews were carried out to identify how one work with student exchanges, both within the landscape architecture education program and in voluntary forums during the students' leisure time. The interviewees have experiences of different student exchanges and different approach to landscape architecture education at the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences (SLU) in Alnarp. During the interviews, it emerged that the number of exchanges for different reasons steadily has declined in recent years. At the same time, the interviewed conceded that exchanges are important to prepare students for their professional career. An electronic survey was sent to all landscape architecture students at SLU Alnarp.

Background: Every day patient´s get isolated in hospitals as a consequense of infection control purposes. Physical isolation can result in lack of human contact and a new unknown environment for the patient. Those two factors can easily cause stress within the patient and create anxiety for the future. Aim: The aim of the study was to describe patient´s experience of being nursed in an isolation room. Method: The method that was used was a literature research, where earlier research findings were read and put together.

Sickness absence is a measure of health and is therefore an important issue. To get a complete picture it´s important to also include in the discussion sickness presenteeism, working while ill, and voluntary absence, staying at home without illness. Working conditions have been proven to play a role for the three aspects which is why this study aims to further investigate the connections between them. The method used was secondary processing on interview data collected from two home care teams, one having a low and the other a high sickness absence. The results showed that there were big differences concerning working conditions, where the group with the high sickness absence perceived more stress, less control and less support from colleagues and superiors.

Aktionsforskningsstudiens huvudsakliga syfte är att skapa kunskap om den enskilda skolans villkor för användandet av interaktiva skrivtavlor i det pedagogiska arbetet. Ett vidare syfte med studien är att skapa ett forum för erfarenhetsutbyte som kan leda till ett kollektivt lärande. Studien bidrar med lärarnas perspektiv på vilka förutsättningar som krävs för att utveckla arbetet med interaktiva skrivtavlor. Målsättningen med aktionen i studien var att en grupp lärare skulle ges möjlighet att tillsammans förbättra sin egen praxis där studien är genomförd inom ramen för ett utvecklingsarbete. Empirin i studien utgår från gruppsamtal som genomfördes under utvecklingsarbetet.

During the last decades the evolution of information technology and the increasing ability to access information have been discussed in many ways. In the beginning the focus was on the technology but now the discussion is more and more about the use of information and how to develop knowledge out of it. There is an ongoing discussion about the difference between knowledge and information. The subject of this Master s thesis is to find out if and how the Swedish elementary school has written into its mission statements to help the pupils to become information literate. For this purpose I have examined literature about information literacy and pedagogic as well as legislation and other documents that control how the Swedish elementary schools work.

The thesis examines ?intermediality? in Svenska Bios (Swedish Biograph) first fiction films. Värmlänningarne (1910), Fänrik Ståls Sägner (1910), Bröllopet på Ulfåsa (1910), Regina von Emmeritz och Konung Gustaf II Adolf (1910), Amuletten (1910), Emigranten (1910) and Järnbäraren (1911) are analysed in relation to theatre, literature, music and ?reality?. A detailed discussion of intermediality is combined with specific theories relating to pictorialism and literary presentation in film.

 The aim of this essay was to examine the way preschool teachers and children converse during school meals, and also the way preschool teachers start and develop conversations during meals. The conversations were analyzed from the topic of conversation and the teachers' ways of using language acts such as questions, remarks, exhortations. The study was based on observations, tape recording and contact schedule. The result shows that the topic of conversation is significant for how involved teachers are in conversations during meals. The result also shows how conversations develop or end depending on what language acts teachers use.

The purpose of this thesis was to examine reading groups inpublic libraries from a bibliotherapeutic perspective. Inorder to reach this purpose following questions needed to beanswered: What does the discussion in reading groups looklike? What does the reading groups fulfill for theirparticipants? What is the circle leaders? role? The study isbased on the observations of three reading groups and offive interviews of its participants. With the help of CarolineShrodes theory the study shows that there are few signs ofbibliotherapy in the reading groups. But on the other handthey show similarities with other bibliotherapeutic readinggroups, by being a social venue for its participants.

BAKGRUND: Denna uppsats har sin grund i ett stort intresse för ett holistiskt perspektiv på lärande. Verkligheten utanför skolan är komplex och föränderlig. Livet är inte indelat i separata fack utan baseras på samarbete och samförstånd av olika slag, där delarna hör ihop med varandra. Styrdokumenten har successivt stärkt kravet på samarbete och ett helhetsperspektiv på lärande. Därför ställer vi oss som blivande pedagoger i grundskolan frågan om pedagoger samarbetar kring detta helhetsperspektiv på lärande.

Laboratory work is a big part of chemistry education in high school. During our student training placement we have noticed that the laboratory work is not fully utilized to develop students´ chemistry knowledge. This problem made us want to investigate how the laboratory work in chemistry could be set, to become more meaningful for students. We introduced two preparation methods, and examined the outcome of students learning experiences and their acquisition of chemistry knowledge. This was examined both through surveys and observation.

The purpose of this Bachelor Thesis is to examine what happens when the solitary reading experience becomes a social activity. The study is based on semi-structured interviews with three women belonging to the same reading group. I have used Sten Furhammar?s reading dimensions and categories to explain their reading experience, and Jenny Hartley, Elizabeth Long and Immi Lundin to explain the function that the reading group has for them, and the relationship between reading experiences in a book-discussion.My result shows that they started the reading group because they lacked an opportunity to discuss their readings with people that had the same interest in books. They do all have different ways to read, which is displayed by Furhammar?s categories personal and impersonal reading for experience.

Syftet med denna uppsats är att analysera huruvida, och i så fall på vilket sätt, EU-domstolens avgörande Eurofood och därpå följande nationell domstolspraxis har minskat utrymmet för insolventa bolag att utföra forum shopping genom artikel 3.1 IF i jämförelse med rättsläget innan Eurofood. Uppsatsens slutsats är att EU-domstolens uttalanden i Eurofood i viss mån har försvårat genomförandet av forum shopping. Innan Eurofood var det en utbredd praxis (fallen Enron Directo SL, Daisytek-ISA Ltd m.fl.) att bryta sätespresumtionen med hänvisning, såsom primärt och avgörande skäl, till att det insolventa bolagets huvudkontorsuppgifter utförs i den medlemsstat där den aktuella domstolen är belägen, trots att bolagets (hela) verksamhet utförs i en annan stat där bolaget även har sitt säte. I Eurofood uttalade EU-domstolen att sätespresumtionen enbart kan brytas med hänvisning till objektiva och fastställbara omständigheter för tredje man. Därvid uttalades att när ett bolag bedriver verksamhet i den medlemsstat där det registrerade sätet är beläget, är den omständigheten att dess ekonomiska val kontrolleras eller kan kontrolleras av ett moderbolag i en annan medlemsstat inte i sig tillräckligt för att kullkasta presumtionen.

The purpose of this paper is to develop an idea about geography in literature and through the study of science fiction literature examine the ?future city?. With the perspective that the city is a social construction and through the use of discourse theory, I have tried to emphasize how the future city is a representation of cultural discourses and in what way geography in literature can be used to increase our understanding of urban places. My intention with this paper has also been to find a way to connect the fictional future city with today?s urban planning discussion about the future city.
