The demand for renewable energy is increasing in Sweden. This consequently increases the pressure for and willingness to pay for forest fuels. One method to extract forest fuel from suitable commercial thinnings is the "long top method? (LT-method). With this method saw logs and non-delimbed tops are recovered, i.e.

Transportation constitutes a large part of the forest industry's raw material costs. Transport also contributes a significant proportion of the carbon dioxide emissions. In order to reduce both the cost and environmental impact different types of decision support are required. These, in turn, require extensive information about the road network and correct information on road path selection and transport distances. In the development of national road data base for forestry (SNVDB) a road selection application has been included.

In this report a new gear concept is evaluated using the magnetic finite element method (FEM)software MagNet and Ansys as well as the mechanical FEM software Abaqus. The gear conceptis evaluated in terms of maximum torque capability, torsional stiffness, gear ratio and efficiency.ABB Corporate Research has proposed a new gear concept which should be less expensive thangearboxes used today. The new concept is called aMagnetic Harmonic Traction Drive and usesthe principles of a harmonic drive gear to achieve a high reduction ratio. The gear conceptreplaces the wave generator used in traditional harmonic drives with magnets and uses tractioninstead of gear teeth to transfer the torque. The main components in the gearbox are the magnets,the flexspline, the magnetic portion and the circular spline.

Prescribed burning was commonly used for site preparation in Sweden to establish new forests until the 1960?s, when mechanical scarification was introduced. During recent decades the interest in prescribed burnings has increased again, mainly due to certifications of forestry stating that 5% of the regeneration areas should be burned on dry and mesic soils. The objective of the study was to evaluate actual influence of prescribed burning compared to other site preparation on stand stem density, growth parameters and tree damages for Scots pine (Pinus sylvestris L.) after direct seeding and planting. The study also attempts to simulate growth until first thinning.

The purpose with this report is to make a contribution to Bodycote heat treatments workshop in Värnamo, how to introduce, establish and constantly improve its environmental system. The rapport will help Bodycote with there certifying in ISO 14001: s demand standard. Organizations who continuously work with environmental issues have a lot to gain. Two things an active environmental development process will convey are, building of thrust within the circle of customers, and great financial savings. An increasingly numbers of organizations realize the importance to introduce a functioning environmental system into their activity.

Syfte och frågeställningarSyftet med detta examensarbete var att göra en inledande studie som ger en första uppfattning av nivån på den aeroba energiomsättningen under skyddstjänst ombord på ett fartyg. Frågeställning: Vilken nivå på den aeroba energiomsättningen når försökspersonerna upp till under skyddstjänstövning?MetodTjugotre kadetter som studerar till officerare genomförde förtester i form av submaximalt och maximalt cykeltest samt beep-test för beräkning av maximal syreupptagningsförmåga. Femton av dessa deltog som försökspersoner i en slutövning i skyddstjänst där hjärtfrekvens (Hf) mätningar gjordes och upplevd ansträngning skattades enligt Borgskalan.ResultatSex av försökspersonerna uppnådde högst nivåer på den aeroba energiomsättningen under momentet "skrovskadeskydd", sju under momentet "brand 2" och två under "brand 1". Hf varierade mycket mellan momenten och individerna pga.

An attempt were made to record the 1st movement of Beethoven?s Op. 57, with the objective of performing it as close to Beethoven?s will as possible, in the tradition of the ?historically informed performance? movement.The result of evaluating source material rendered a list of the most relevant material for this study, and hopefully that might prove useful for other studies with similar objective concering HIP and composer-intention based ?autenticity?.However, Beethoven?s will was only vaguely captured in the limited source material accounted for in this study, rendering it moderate-to-small reliability. It?s probably possible to achieve a higher degree of goal achievement, given more time and through the utilization of music psychology to further extrapolate the detailed parameters of Beethoven?s presumed extramusical will.The recording made was not to my satisfaction and has strengthened my view that the interpreter should take council from the collected knowledge of scholarly sources but must ultimately remain free in whether and how to utilize that knowledge.Lastly, I?ve measured the bpm in the resulting recording with a error margin of ±0,02 s.

I dag råder det brist på död ved i Sveriges skogar. Detta på grund av det intensiva skogsbruket där man kalhugger och plockar bort all liggande ved. Dock är det viktigt med många döda träd i olika nedbrytningsstadier för många skogslevande arter. Svenska skogar har få urskogar där naturliga avdödningsprocesser av träd får ske och därför minskar den biologiska mångfalden i skogen. Tre arter som endast trivs i naturskog är tickorna ullticka, Phellinus ferrugineofuscus, gränsticka, Phellinus nigrolimitatus och vedticka, Phellinus viticola.

Visual Type Instrument - VTI, is a tool containing a typeface and a set of geometric calculations that generates numerical data in spreadsheets. The data is determined from the typefaces visual dimensions and is used to calculate leading, type size, margins and format. The aim is to offer, for all of those working with typography and design, a practical way to manage text, image and format in relationship to visual size. Instead of using point measurements, VTI uses a new device called Edo. An Edo is the same as one twelfth of a millimetre.

Det här examensarbetet inom Maskiningenjörsprogrammet på Karlstad universitet har utförts på Linde Material Handling AB i Örebro. Arbetet inleddes med att en kundundersökning utfördes genom en enkät till personal på Stora Enso Skoghall. Enkäten innehöll relevanta frågor om hur kunden upplever sina truckar från Linde, hur service och underhåll fungerar, samt hur de skulle vilja förbättra truckarna inför framtiden.Utifrån kundundersökning hos Stora Enso uppdagades det bl.a. att hydrauliken i klämaggregatet går för långsamt och att detta är ett störande moment som medför irritation bland truckförarna. Frågeställningen blev, hur väl anpassat klämaggregatet är till truckens hydrauliska funktion utifrån dagens krav på klämkraft och fart.

Vid drift av en dieselmotor skapas kontinuerligt små mängder avlagringar som sedan kan forma ett hårt lager kallat koks. Kokset bildas vid kontakt med heta ytor och ett sådant område är toppland, längst upp på utsidan av kolven. När lagret blir tillräckligt tjockt skrapar det insidan av cylindern vilket påverkar ytan negativt samtidigt som den blir ojämn. Oljeförbrukningen ökar dessutom, då den olja som finns på insidan av cylindern trycks uppåt och därmed förbränns i förbränningsrummet. För att få bukt med problemet har Scania infört en så kallad saverring.

With background in the rapidly growing need to find solutions for sustainable energy production and the increasing interest for wind power, this report was written. With take-off point from the wind power plant Big Glenn, which has been built in the harbour of Gothenburg, a model of the adjacent power grid has been created in Simulink/SimPowerSystems. Parameters for the power grid and its components has been provided by Göteborg Energi Nät, that has also been the supplier of measurement data of produced power, the power need from loads in the vicinity, voltage levels, current values and also the variation of power factor at the wind power plant.The SimPowerSystems model has been used to perform simulations of power flow in the grid. These simulated values have then been compared to the measured values to verify the functionality of the model. Further, the model has been used to perform simulations of a grid fault, which causes a voltage drop.

Ett vattentanksystem och tillhörande styrelektronik utvecklades på Rubico AB i Luleå under sommaren 2011. Detta andra ordningens reglersystem består kortfattat av två vattentankar med individuella nivågivare, en pump och en störflödeskran. I dagsläget används utrustningen vid laborationer på Luleå tekniska universitet i en grundkurs i reglerteknik. Avläsning av nivågivare och styrning av pump i det existerande systemet sker analogt via ett externt DAC-kort kopplat mellan reglersystem och persondator. Regleringen sker på datorn med hjälp av mjukvaran RegSim.

This report describes a study aimed at uncovering flaws and finding potential improvements from when the modelling tool EAAT is used in conjunction with the modelling language CySeMoL. The study was performed by developing a framework and applying it on CySeMoL and EAAT in real life context networks.The framework was developed in order to increase the number of flaws uncovered as well as gather potential improvements to both EAAT and CySeMoL. The basis of the framework is a modified version of the Quality in use model from ISO/IEC 25010:2011 standard. Upon the characteristics and sub characteristics of this modified model different values for measuring usability where attached. The purpose of these values is to measure usability from the perspectives of both creating and interpreting models.

By exposing their products in blogs, companies have the opportunity to reach out to hundreds of thousands of consumers daily. Instead of using conventional Internet advertising such as banners and ads, some companies chose to make use of product placement in blogs. By choosing to expose their products in blogs, companies use a medium that blog readers are familiar with and can relate to, and can thereby solicit customers for their products and brands.We will examine whether product placements in fashion blogs are an effective way for businesses to market themselves and their products. We measure this efficiency, by keeping a record of the sales of ten product placed garment and accessories that we have selected from four of the largest blogs in Sweden. The stores we examine sales of product placed goods in are volume brand stores such as Zara and H&M etcetera.
