This two years master?s thesis is about book circles for children, arranged by the public libraries in Sweden. The purpose is to gain knowledge about how children experience their participation in book circles, and how they experience their own reading. It focuses on children aged 10 to 12 years, and their leisure reading. The research questions are: What are the book circles? function for the participants? How and why do the children read? What kind of literature do they like? Do the children experience that their reading has developed through their participation in the book circles? What parts of the reading process do the book circles influence?The theoretical framework is threefold.

This report describes the results of the project "Concept development of jet engine inspection plugs" carried out in the spring of 2008. The work was done at the department of product definition at the company Volvo Aero in Trollhättan. The objective of the work was to develop concepts for a "Volvo-unique" inspection plug. The work is part of Volvo Aero's focus on proprietary (self-developed) technologies. Inspection plugs can be found on virtually all aircraft engines and gas turbines.

As my final project I planned to animate a movie. Usually I work with illustration and I see animation as the next step in my design work, to investigate how illustration and movement can collaborate. The purpose with my project was to develop my technical skills, improve my design process and broaden my work to eventually be able to work with animation. My ambition was to make an abstract animation and my focus was mainly on my personal process and knowledge. Disfluenser innebär naturliga tvekfenomen och de förekommer med individuella variationer hos samtliga talare. Förekomsten av disfluenser i barntal har hittills inte studerats i så stor utsträckning, vilket motiverar föreliggande uppsatsarbete.Syftet med studien var att undersöka förekomsten av disfluenser hos svenska 6-åringar med typisk utveckling. Syftet var även att analysera huruvida förekomsten av disfluenser skiljer sig mellan könen. Slutligen undersöktes huruvida det förelåg ett samband mellan mängden disfluenser och lexikal förmåga innefattande ordförråd samt ordmobilisering.I studien deltog 55 barn med svenska som modersmål, 25 flickor samt 30 pojkar i åldrarna 6;0?6;12 (M 6;5) år.

This thesis is focused on what impact stall confinement has on a horse?s mental and physical welfare. It was of great interest to get a gathered picture of how Swedish horseowners had experienced having their horses in stall confinement. A survey study was conducted to achieve this. The survey included twelve questions which for example investigated the horses? age at the time of stall confinement, the length of stall confinement and their sexes.

An interesting feature for Windows 8 is that applications can be developed using different programming languages but still provide the same functionality regardless of the language used. The study addresses the field of design as a profession and examines the views on strategic management in a design project among nine selected graphic designers. The graphic designers who participate in the study are permanently employed at design companies in Stockholm. The study has a qualitative approach and the method is based on face-to-face interviews. We have chosen to examine this subject due to the opinion among professionals that strategic management in the design industry has increased during the last decades. The purpose of this study was to develop a reliable molecular-genetic method to determine the different species of helicobacter in dogs. The study is part of a larger project to map the prevalence of Helicobacter spp in healthy and sick dogs in Sweden, and to determine the possible connection of Helicobacter spp infection with gastrointestinal diseases in dogs. Several published studies have reported on the prevalence of Helicobacter spp in dogs. The problem is that three of the most common species are so alike that a 16SrRNA-PCR with sequencing is not able to differentiate between them. In this study, DNA has been purified from samples and then a Multiplex PCR has been performed. Multiplex PCRs use multiple primers in one single PCR.

Within the Swedish school and the public library communities it is generally held as a truth that reading of fiction develops the empathic ability of the reader. This opinion is also expressed in political guiding documents for the school system and cultural sector. This paper's main hypothesis is that there is no assembled theoretic ground for the statement that reading of fiction develops the empathic ability. The investigation consists of two parts, the first being theoretical and the second empirical. Definitions of what empathy and reading is, are reviewed in the first part.
