The web sites of Swedish public libraries display a high level of heterogeneity when it comes to design and graphical user interface. The thesis is based on the opinion that the visuals of a public library web site have implications for the user as well as for the library. The design of the graphical user interface influences the attention of the user and his/her ability to absorb information. Furthermore, there is a connection between the visuals and the users opinion about the credibility of the content of the web site, as well as of the organisation itself. The research question is: Which factors may have an impact on the design of the graphical user interfaces of a public library web site? The purpose is to create an understanding for these factors and emphasize them.

This report is a bachelor thesis work within the field of Product Development and is also an assignment for Thule Sweden. The work has been performed by Niclas TjÀderborn and Christian Holm, students at the Mechanical Engineering Program with major in Product Development and Industrial Design at Jönköping School of Engineering during spring the semester of 2009.The thesis work concerned the development of a new wheel holder for bike carrier for Thule Sweden. The background to the project was that the initiator wanted a more user friendly wheel holder with better design than those available on the market. The wheel holder is able to be implemented on one or several of Thule?s current wheel holders.
FörstÄelse för hÄllbar utveckling ur ett elevperspektiv
Syftet med vÄr undersökning var att se i vilken grad eleverna har förstÄelse för begreppet hÄllbar utveckling. DÄ hÄllbar utveckling Àr ett mycket vitt begrepp har vi avgrÀnsat oss till att behandla den konflikt som uppstÄr mellan ekonomiska, sociala och miljömÀssiga synvinklar i hÄllbar utveckling. Vi ville Àven undersöka om eleverna visar att de har handlingskompetens i miljöfrÄgor. För att uppnÄ detta genomförde vi en enkÀtundersökning pÄ tvÄ skolor i Norrbotten samt att vi intervjuade ett urval av dessa elever. VÄr undersökning visade att eleverna visade förstÄelse för konflikten i hÄllbar utveckling men dÀremot kunde vi inte se om de hade nÄgon större handlingskompetens..
Att aktivera deltagande : Design av ett crossmediakoncept
In this thesis we present the procedures and outcomes of adopting two roles in a study: the role of a researcher and the role of a designer. The subject is crossmedia design. Crossmedia is a growing and changing trend for media producers of today its design is of great importance. The purpose is to create a concept from scratch that stands out from the crowd and engage people with the use of cross media as the approach. We also aim to investigate if a cross media designer can rely on previous research made within this subject or if the scene has changed.In order to test and to fully understand the process of the subject, we designed a crossmedia concept, based upon previous and related research.

There is a lack of published material regarding designing graphical user interfaces of so called integrated video uploading services. The term integrated video uploading services refers to homepages that do not have video uploading as its primary purpose but which still offers that service to its visitors. The aim of this thesis was to improve the amount of published material about designing graphical user interfaces for integrated video uploading services. This was done by performing a literature study to find general design guidelines which can be applied to design of integrated video uploading services. Thereafter the functionality and design of dedicated video uploading services was analyzed.

The last few decades the development in the field of electronics has been huge. The components performance gets better at the same time as the manufacturing cost decreases. Many of the design moments that have to be done, are done automatically today, but it can get better. Especially for analog circuit design.At Electronic System in Linköpings universitet, research is in progress to develop a tool that can design analog circuits in reasonable time. It means that it has to size the components (transistors, resistances, capacitances etc), so that the circuit can fulfill the performance requirements.

This thesis is basically a design project aimed to find a safe and reliable automatic safety device, which is designed to be suitable for highly automated industrial situations. This device fits with ABB / Jokab Safety?s fence systems. These are built up around machines to create safety distances. The automatic protection device assist the operator in situations when loading or going in and out of the danger zone.

This master thesis, which has been carried out in collaboration with Fairtrade,investigates how sustainable development can be integrated in the mathematicaldiscipline in the Swedish upper secondary school. The study includedfindings on design and disposition, with sustainability themes relatedto Fairtrade. This since Fairtrade is going to use the study as a basis forthe development of an educational material. The results of the study areof interest to teachers and organizations that want to develop educationalmaterial that integrate sustainable development in mathematics education.The main focus of the study has been the teachers? preferences on dispositionand design.Semi-structured interviews were conducted with seven mathematics teachersin the Stockholm area.

Det finns idag mÄnga verktyg och ramverk för att utveckla spelapplikationer. I den hÀr rapporten kommer jag utvÀrdera Phaser.io som Àr ett öppen kÀllkodsramverk för att utveckla webspelsapplikationer.Resultatet av det hÀr examensarbetet Àr en prototyp av spelet Equamem som jag har utvecklat utifrÄn min handledare Erik Berglunds spelkoncept och design. This is a dissertation for a Bachelor Degree Project at the University of Skövde. The project is carried out in cooperation with the company Kinnarps AB.The objective of this project was to develop a new chair for café and lunch rooms, which should satisfy the markets expectations and demands and match Kinnarps AB?s assortment today. The project has contained everything from identification of user and customer needs and requirements to evaluation and building of a prototype.The result is a chair with a frame of tubular steel and there is nothing like it in Kinnarps AB?s assortment today.
Digital doggy bag : iPhone applikation som tar med dina mat- och dryckupplevelser
In this project an iPhone application for storing food and drink experiences was developed with focus on an easy interaction design. The already existing market of similar applications were studied and evaluated to extract their positive and negative features. Interviews with experts within the food and drink business where made in the pre study to get a good perception of how to divide and categorize the sections in the application. To optimize the usability, workshops with potential users with different technical experiences where continuously held during the development of the design.During the development two variants of development environments where evaluated. The final result of the application was developed in the environment that made the best impression and seemed to be the best alternative.The resulting product has a thought out design meant to be easy to understand, even for the first time users.
Strukturerat lÀrande genom Action Design Research. En studie om visualisering av behörigheter
As organizations are generating more business intelligence in their systems, more employees need access those systems. As a result some sort of permission management needs to be implemented to ensure the information remain safe. Access Control Matrix (ACM) is one way of managing permissions and is widely used among organizations. The issues that comes with ACM is that the matrix itself gets difficult to manage and overview as its complexity increases with the number of permissions. The study utilizes Action Design Research to develop a tool for visualizing permissions.
Utveckling av skivspelare som pÄverkas minimalt av inre och yttre störningar
Examensarbetet utfördes i samarbete med Transient Design som Àr ett företag i HiFi branschen. Examensarbetet behandlar utvecklingen av en skivspelare vilket hade som mÄl att ge förslag pÄ ett designkoncept samt bidra med relevanta tekniska lösningar.Arbete inleddes med en förstudie som syftade till att bygga en bra grund för att pÄ ett bra sÀtt kunna utföra resten av arbetet. Den stora delen av förstudien var dels en marknadsundersökning av enklare typ avsedd att skapa en bÀttre bild av den tÀnkta mÄlgruppen och dels litteraturstudier inom Àmnen som vibrationsteori och mÀtutrustning. DÄ en stabil grund för arbetet formats gick projektet in i idégenereringsfasen dÀr en stor mÀngd olika förslag pÄ bÄde design och tekniska lösningar var resultatet. UtifrÄn denna stora grupp med förslag utfördes en rad urval med vidareutveckling dÀremellan.

Polaris Eyewear is one of the world's leading companies in innovative eyeweardesign. My assignment has been to, in collaboration with them, expand their range with a pair of children's glasses, while maintaining the innovative character they are so known for.The problem with childrens eyewear today is that most of the time the glasses tries to mimic the adult eyewear and the ?childish? type of designing is spared. From an ergonomic point of view, a child's nose is smaller than an adults and therefore needs a different type of shape and nosebridge. In addition, children have softer ears, which means that they need a different type of shaftend as well.
