Information overload is by no means a new concept, but has come to prominence the last decade. A generally accepted definition of the phenomenon does not exist. The main question in this master thesis is how to define information overload in order to create a connotative concept for information science. This thesis reviews the nature and causes of information overload, and considers possible solutions, both individual and technical, and their relevance to the information professional. The review of the results shows that researchers seldom or never give a legible definition of what the concept information holds.

Graviditetsförlust i form av tidiga missfall är en vanlig diagnos i sjukvården. En mer sällsynt diagnos är utomkvedshavandeskap som kan ha ett dramatiskt förlopp och vara direkt livshotande. Sjuksköterskan kan inom flera olika områden i sjuk-vården träffa på kvinnor som har råkat ut för någon av dessa förluster och behöver omvårdnad. Syftet med litteraturöversikten var att ta reda på vad eventuell forsk-ning visade angående kvinnors känslomässiga upplevelser vid graviditetsförlust samt att ur ett omvårdnadsperspektiv belysa kvinnors reaktioner på vården. För att uppnå syftet gjordes en litteraturöversikt enligt Friberg (2006).

The purpose of this study is to describe and analyze homelessness in a medium-sized municipality from an organizational perspective. Some of the central questions in this study are: How is the cause of homelessness explained? How do different actors in the community address, prevent and combat homelessness? Who is responsible for the homelessness?This study is based on four semi-structured interviews with organizations that work with homelessness. The analysis is based on problem definition theory.The result of this study shows that homelessness is a problem in this medium-sized municipality even if it is not a big one and that it is often closely combined with substance abuse. The responsibility for the homeless is on the homeless themselves and the social service because that causes is, according to this study, individual based.  .

The purpose of this essay is to investigate the term equableness in the Swedish elementary school with a take-off point in the free school reform from 1992. This essay starts with the political background of the terms equableness and freedom of choice and the official governmental guidelines. Research from Bo Malmberg and Gabriel Sahlgren act as a framework for the whole essay as their theories are tested. The main problem is presented as the question: is the debated concern regarding a lowered equableness since 1992 justifiable? Both researchers define equableness as a difference in grades but undertake a collective versus a more individual approach.

Sammanfattning Ambulanssjuksköterskan arbetar idag i stressiga, krävande miljöer och ska då fatta snabba, korrekta beslut som kan vara livsavgörande för en svårt sjuk patient. Om en individ upplever att dennes yrkessituation inte kan kontrolleras eller hanteras kan personen till slut reagera med uppgivenhet, detta är en definition av långvarig stress. Syftet med denna studie var att undersöka hur litteraturen identifierar och beskriver upplevelser av stress hos ambulanssjuksköterskor och vilka preventiva interventioner som finns idag för att hantera ambulanssjuksköterskans stress i samband med traumatiska möten av svårt sjuka patienter.Metoden för studien var en deskriptiv litteraturstudie där artiklar hämtades via Google Scholar, Medline via PubMed och Cinahl.  Resultatet av denna studie visade att det i de flesta fall saknas en strategi för att möta den yrkesrelaterade stress som ambulanssjuksköterskor utsätts för. För att kunna upptäcka och undvika symtom på stress behövs mer preventiva interventioner och uppföljningar före eller i direkt anslutning till en kritisk händelse. Det behövs mer forskning i ämnet och fåtalet artiklar uppvisar förslag angående djupgående hjälpmedel för stresshantering och stressrelaterade sjukdomar. Slutsats Att ambulanssjuksköterskan i sitt arbete upplever stress och är tvungen att hantera den är ett faktum.

This study is based on the child welfare agency and social welfare board definition in Växjö City about the people who were defined as feebleminded and which solution they choose for this ?social problem?, with focus if they used sterilization as a solution to this ?problem? during the years 1934-1941. The individuals who were regarded as feebleminded were alcoholics, unemployed, people who were feeble in their mind, people who had mental diseases, people who were vagrants and poor people. According to earlier research these people were categorized in a subclass and their behavior were not regarded as ordinary like a human who had a healthy mind, according to that period believes.The boards in Växjö defined the feebleminded people with mentally deficient minds, mental retardation, poverty and in some cases disturbed self-activity. However the most common definition of the feebleminded was mentally deficient minds and mental retardation.

Försäkringskassans enhet sjuk- och aktivitetsersättning utland saknar ett systematiskt arbetssätt för sortering och arkivering av information vilket krävs för skapa återsökbarhet. Likaså hindras arbetet med ständiga förbättringar av att ingen återkoppling inkommer från kunderna, därav kan kundnöjdhet inte mätas och inga förbättringar ske.Information och kommunikation är två områden som är tätt sammankopplande. Enkelriktad kommunikation är information, både kommunikation och information kan förmedlas verbal eller skriftligt. Med utgångspunkt i ovan nämnda resonemang har vi fastställt att de två förbättringsområdena; informationsflödet på enheten och kommunikation med intressenterna, gäller information. Syftet med examensarbetet har varit att åstadkomma förbättringar på Försäkringskassans enhet sjuk- och aktivitetsersättning utland ur ett medarbetarperspektiv.

Syftet med vårt utvecklingsarbete var att undersöka elevernas åsikter om vår definition av elevinflytande samt att se hur eleverna uppfattade ett specifikt arbetssätt med avseende på elevinflytande. Utvecklingsarbetet utfördes under sju veckor i en klass, skolår nio, i Luleå kommun. Undersökningsgruppen bestod av fjorton flickor och åtta pojkar. De mätinstrument vi använde oss av i undersökningen var observationer, enkätundersökning samt intervjuer. Resultatet visade att eleverna verkade tycka att det var roligt att själva välja arbetssätt, tidsåtgång och sätt att kontrollera kunskaperna på.

Syftet med denna studie är att ge en djupare insikt i hur man definierar det problematiska fenomenet högfrekvent dator-och tvspel. I denna studie kommer fenomenet att definieras, beskrivas och problematiseras av verksamma inom socialt arbete, där grunden för vår empiriska studie baseras på en kvalitativ ansats i form av intervjuer. Urvalsgruppen består av fyra intervjupersoner, en kurator, en terapeut, en socialarbetare på en förening som arbetar specifikt med denna problematik och en socialarbetare inom socialtjänsten. Genom intervjuerna och en sammanfattning av dessa kan vi se en brist på en tydlig definition av fenomenet och därmed ett behov av en konkret definition. Intervjuerna visar också skillnader kring vad de olika intervjupersonerna anser att det finns för insatser för personer med denna typ av problematik.

The purpose of this essay is to examine when teachers choose to discuss mathematics withstudents rather then just talk about mathematics. A definition where used to distinguish betweenan interaction that is not a discussion and an interaction that is a discussion. This definition hasbeen created by drawing ideas from other works into making a quite simple definition whichtherefore is easy to observe. The discussions are also separated into two different kinds ofdiscussions. The first and most common category of discussion are one where only imitativereasoning is used.

In Sweden, prostitution is politically defined as a social problem, more precisely, as a form of male violence against women. The definition is distinctly manifested in the government bill Kvinnofrid, characterised by the unique Swedish law that prohibits the purchase of sexual services.This thesis examines how the Swedish solutions of prostitution are carried out. By interviewing central actors working with prostitution in different ways we aim to answer the question: What measures are taken to decrease prostitution and what implications does the Swedish solution have?The analysis is divided into two parts. First, we analyse the concrete measures taken against prostitution ? what is done, how, and why? Second, we analyse the complexity of prostitution measures by applying complementary analytical perspectives: the symbolic and the discourse perspective.The study shows that measures taken to decrease prostitution vary and depend on individual actors? understandings of the political definition.

The main purpose of this thesis is to examine the process of selecting films at Bibliotekstjänst and at Swedish public libraries. The tools that have been used for analysing and interpreting the results from the interviews and the questionnaire are theory-based models describing the selection process concerning film and Carl Gustav Johannsen?s quality definitions. The result of the investigation shows that Bibliotekstjänst doesn?t really work with any quality definitions in their selection process.

Palliativ vård innebär vård i livets slut när det inte längre finns några medicinska behandlingar för sjukdomen. Vården kan utföras i sjukhusmiljö, hospis eller i hemmet. Vi har valt att koncentrera oss på upplevelser av hemmet och livets slut vid palliativ vård, utifrån ett närståendeperspektiv. Vård i livets slut i hemmet kan innebära en stor förändring för hela familjen. Närståendes livsvärld förändras när en familjemedlem blir sjuk.

The main purpose of this Master?s thesis is to analyse the portrayals of working-class life in a selection of works by the Swedish authors Ragnar Järhult and Per Gunnar Evander. The research questions are: * How is the working conditions described?* What political messages can be found in the works?* What image of the class society is shown?The second aim of this Master?s thesis is to analyse the concept of working-class literature and to investigate if the works of Per Gunnar Evander could be seen as working-class literature. Methodologically, the study draws on established theories, concepts and methods from the sociology of literature and the history of ideas.

The purpose with this review is to investigate evidence-based practice (EBP), and which arguments are used to justify EBP. The year of 2006 Bergmark and Lundström published an article regarding the problems concerning EBP. They are discussing that several different definitions of EBP are existing, which they mean can lead to difficulties using the EBP-methods in real life. In this study six articles, from the years 2007-2011, have been analyzed using Mertons structure-functional theory and Lipskys theory of street-level bureaucracy. Different definitions of EBP are discussed in the articles and there seem to be a need to clarify the concept.
