The aim of this dissertation is the production of a landscape management document to protect and improve elements of biological, cultural and economic value found within the site at Tosthult. The study involves both analysis of the current grazing regime, comparison of today?s flora with flora collected in the fifties and a SWOT analysis of inhabitants? views on Tosthult?s landscape and neighbourhood. The resultant landscape management document applies to an area over 134 ha and is valid for thirty years. The proposal contains 26 separate management units, each with necessary information on the area, definition of management goals and the mix of management procedures to undertake.

Ground work like blasting, piling and excavation has always had a great influence during the planning phase of a construction project since it can cause damages on adjacent buildings and have severe economic consequences. This thesis deals with how vibrations caused by ground work influence near-by buildings and what methods geotechnicians and construction entrepreneurs use to handle these risks.The purpose of this thesis is to explain risk management in relation to ground work. In order to achieve this I have used a qualitative method by interviewing a geotechnician and a ground work contractor who possess knowledge and experience useful to this thesis. The result shows that vibrations from ground work spread through the ground as seismic waves that cause displacements and packing in the ground visible in adjacent buildings as cracks and subsidence damages. Geotechnicians study ground work vibrations by means of ground investigations and experience from previous projects in order to produce a risk analysis that entrepreneurs can use to reduce damages.

This has been a thesis work for an bachelor degree at Umeå university. The work has been done at LKAB?s facilities in Kiruna and its main purpose has been to investigate and construct some conceptual designs for replacing a screen with magnetic separation in KA3 concentrator plant. First all information available about magnetic separation was gathered and studies of magnetic separation at the sorting plant and studies of the plant KA3 was conducted. Companies that manufacture magnetic separators were contacted.

Det finns en rad satt att beskriva gallringsformen. Ofta används begreppet gallringskvot i dessa sammanhang utan att närmare ange vilken metod eller definition som använts for att beräkna den. Detta kan lätt leda till att missuppfattningar uppstår. Denna studie belyser olika definitioners känslighet for bland annat beståndsstruktur, gallringsform och stickvägsavstånd. Studien innehåller dessutom en jämforelse mellan olika metoder att mäta och uppskatta gallringskvoten i ett bestånd.

This report gives an overview of applications of the Greenroads rating system whichin turn is an environmental review system for roads. The focus of this report isapplications during the construction phase, ie on solutions which adhere to theentrepreneur's area of responsibility as opposed to the designer's. The study was undertaken in cooperation with Skanska (a global contractor andFortune 500 company) which provided a project suitable for an exemplatory study ofGreenroads. Please note that the project in particular was not specifically designedwith Greenroads in mind. Therefore and because of that the site provided anexcellent opportunity to study effects of application contra non-application. The approach of this study was to first review the system, thereafter to performinterviews with key personel at the site in different roles as to receive different viewsof selected points of application. Selected possibilities of application are cathegorizedand presented with comments and suggestions for adoption. Lastly Greenroads is briefly compared to the rating system which today is the mostwidely used by Skanska, LEED.

The wastewater treatment plant at GE Healthcare's facility in Uppsala deployed a three step vacuum evaporator in 2007. The purpose of this was to pre-treat wastewater containing amines. The purpose of this thesis was to optimize thisprocess by reducing the amount of concentrate without releasing more nitrogen tothe environment and to examine if density could be used as a measurement of whenthe process should be ended.To create a foundation for optimization six test cycles were conducted with samples taken from all three steps. Both concentrate and condensate were tested as well as the incoming solution. Furthermore, the thesis has been expanded with a benchmarking part examining two different evaporators.

Begreppet slöjdprocess har idag en central plats i relation till svensk grundskolas slöjdverksamhet, men har hittills genom bådestyrdokument och i forskning definierats och förklarats på olika sätt, vilket gjort att begreppet kunnat uppfattas tvetydigt.Denna uppsats består av en kvalitativ litteraturstudie, inspirerad från en fenomenografisk forskningsansats, med syftet att försökabesvara frågan om vad begreppet slöjdprocess står för relaterat till svensk grundskolas slöjdverksamhet; hur begreppet definieras,tolkas och förklaras inom slöjdforskningsfältet. Studien bygger på en sammanställning och jämförelser av sex forskare frånSverige, Danmark och Finland utifrån deras definitioner och tolkningar av begreppet slöjdprocess.Resultatet visar att det saknas en tydlig definition av begreppet slöjdprocess, istället finns det flera sätt att både definiera ochförklara begreppet. Studiens resultat visar också både beskrivningar av flera parallellt pågående processer inom en slöjdprocessoch beskrivningar av flera parallellt pågående processer som inte bör ses som delprocesser inom en slöjdprocess. Som centraladelar i beskrivningar av begreppet slöjdprocess i relation till svensk grundskolas slöjdverksamhet, omnämns främst Socialaprocesser & Interaktion, Kommunikation ? verbal & icke-verbal, Problemlösning & Intellektuella utmaningar, Psykiska &Sinnliga processer samt Fysiska & Kroppsliga processer.

The purpose of this study is to determine whether or not there has been a change in the use of democratic values in textbooks in social science for classes 4-6. The focus lies on democratic values from two different theoretical perspectives, Dahl?s theory of democracy and Habermas deliberative democracy. The method used is a text analysis based on a model made by Lennart Hellspong. The material we?ve analysed consists of four textbooks in social science from different decades, with a range from 1981 until today.

Balanced Scorecard har utifrån vår synvinkel två olika användningssätt. Styrkortet kan oavsett användningssätt uppfylla ekonomistyrningens första två uppgifter. Däremot ser vi brister hos styrkortet som gör att det inte kan ses som problemlösande enligt vår definition. För att denna tredje uppgift skall kunna uppfyllas måste företagets ekonomistyrning ses som en helhet där Balanced Scorecard tillsammans med andra styrinstrument bildar ett styrpaket. Härigenom kan svagheter hos vissa instrument vägas upp av styrkor hos andra..

The aim of our research in this study, which has a qualitative attempt, is to investigate participation concerning to a few co-workers in the old-age care. The co-workers experience of participation and their definition of participation, and how participation is related to our different themes. Our themes are the present and wanted assumptions, to make participation possible. Further more does this study discuss participation in relation to the themes communication, competence education and to physical and psychic health. The method we used was primary semi-structured interviews and some observations.

Tortyr brukar ofta förknippas med förhör och våld. Men finns det några andra sätt som tortyr kan förstås och förklaras på? Denna uppsats syftar till att undersöka på vilka sätt tortyr kan definieras, förklaras och förstås. Den kontext som tortyr studeras i är det algeriska självständighetskriget år 1954-1962, där tortyr mot algerier användes i stor utsträckning av den franska armén.Undersökningen utgörs av en litteraturstudie där bl.a. böcker och artiklar har använts för att be-svara följande frågeställningar:Vad är tortyr?Hur har tortyr i det algeriska självständighetskriget förklarats i tidigare forskning?En kvalitativ innehållsanalys har tillämpats för att analysera det material som studien bygger på och sedan har Herbert C.

Syftet med specialarbetet är att presentera genren allåldersböcker samt att ge litteraturtips till den intresserade läsaren. Med en kortfattad definition innebär begreppet allåldersböcker böcker som kan läsas med lika stor behållning av såväl barn och ungdom som vuxna läsare. Specialarbetet inleds med utdrag ur olika intervjuer som jag gjort med fackmänniskor i bokvärlden. Sedan följer ett fyrtiotal annotationer som jag skrivit efter att ha läst dessa allåldersböcker. Bokurvalet har gjorts efter rekommendationer av ovannämnda personer.

Palliative care affirms life and regards dying as a normal process, providing possibilities of a quality time for the patient and family. Studies show that an increasing number of people choose to live the final phase of their life in their own home. A requirement for end of life care is an effective team work, where the nurse is responsible for more advanced care, and the caregiver?s provides the immediate care.
