My essay is about the latter period of Anne Charlotte Leffler?s authorship. In Part I of my essay, I describe her path from the 1880s, where she described femininity as a shortcoming, as writes Ingeborg Nordin-Hennel, towards the 1890s and towards describing femininity as a possibility. This development took place on two levels ? on an outer level, where all the woman writers in the late 1880s were influenced and where they were pushed out by the male writers, and on an inner level with Leffler herself.Her late literary works depict new and more independent types of women, and eroticism is given a more prominent position.

This essay is a meta-theoretical study that aims to show normative and ethical implications that might follow from theories concerning representation of traumatic events in four essays from Shoshana Felman and Dori Laub?s Testimony. Crises of Witnessing in Literature, Psychoanalysis, and History and in Hayden White?s essay ?The Modernist Event?. Through a comparative analysis the essay mainly discusses how these writers deal with the problem of narrative.

In this essay the aim is to look at difficulties in preservation of buildings in general, andespecially the ones of the modernist era. To navigate in this huge field the study is narroweddown to take place in FinspÄng, a small Swedish town. In FinspÄng there was a swimmingpool facility built in 1967. In 2003 the facility was closed down due to its unusable conditionsand then after seven years with discussions of different plans about what to do with thefacility it was demolished in 2010. This case is the base in the essay, and why it was notpreserved.The purpose of this essay is to look at what the people in FinspÄng think about preservation ofbuildings with the demolished swimming hall facility as base, and what impact materiality hason questions regarding preservation, cultural heritage, memory and history.

This thesis explores how art produced in the former GDR has been looked upon, handled and exhibited after the reunification of Germany in 1990. Swedish Art History has paid little attention to art in the GDR. The debate starting in the 50s between the spokesmen for abstract art and the defenders of figuration restrained for a long period the ability to look upon art from the GDR without prejudices. This led to a rejection of all figurative art in the GDR and sweeping judgmental attitudes, like itÂŽs all ?kitsch?.

New dwellings and commercial buildings in coastal regions has for some time now been a focal point. Old industrial harbours are regenerated into modern living areas with a recreational purpose. In Sweden the marina has not taken part in this development, thus remained in the monotony and large-scale structures of modernism. This graduation thesis looks upon the marina from a landscape architects point of view, where the marina foremost is a social venue. By revealing and discussing the development of the marina, its design and environmental consequence theories of the marinas future is presented. These theories are later tested upon the costal village of RydebÀck, south of Helsingborg. The thesis is structured in three parts: marina knowledge, proposal and resources. In the first part the historical development of the marina from prehistory time to now is discussed.

This essay examines the grotesque in Samuel Becketts wellknown play Waiting for Godot. The play is primarily seen as an icon of absurdism, and it is such not appropriate to examine the play as if it belongs to the litterary genre of grotesque. The primary purpose of absurdism is to reveal the pointless- and emptiness of existence. In order to illustrate these points absurdism will often make use of the common characteristics of the grotesque. With this in mind I present, within this essay, an eximination of whether Samuel Becket makes use of these characteristics to assist his portayal of emptiness in Waiting for Godot.A prior understanding of absurdism is required and i have as such primarly used Martin Esslins famous studies.The studies of the grotesque are mainly represented by two theorists.

Salome is the myth of the Oriental princess who dances for her stepfather, Herod the tetrark at his banquet. He becomes so enchanted by Salome's dance that he allows her to wish for what she wants. On the advice of Queen Herodias, Salome's mother, she asks the head of prophet John on a platter. Herod is horrified, but grants Salome's desire.This is the first in a series of Salome petitions as Mark and Matthew in the New Testament. Salome has since then never ceased to fascinate artists and writers through the ages.

Hotell Bellevue byggdes i anslutning till den tidigare vattenkuranstaltens villor frÄn 1880-talet i Hjo stadspark. Hotellet stod fÀrdigt 1971 och ritades av arkitekt Hans-Erland Heineman (1919-2003). Jag undersöker i denna uppsats historien bakom byggnadsprojektet och analyserar dels hur byggnaden gestaltats i förhÄllande till arkitektens tidigare arbeten och dels byggnadens förhÄllande till den omgivande miljön. Jag har försökt kartlÀgga den samtida diskursen, vilket har gjort att jag lagt stor vikt vid att undersöka hur byggnadsprojektet redovisades i den lokala tidningen. Analysen av byggnadens anslutning till platsen har jag relaterat till de tvÄ arkitekturteoretikerna Rem Koolhaas och Kenneth   Framptons olika sÀtt att se pÄ arkitektur.Hjo stadspark anlades i slutet av 1800-talet och var dÄ en parkanlÀggning till Hjo Vattenkuranstalt. Kuranstalten var fullt utbyggd vid sekelskiftet 1900 och Hjo fungerade dÄ som en turistort för den semestrande borgarklassen.

The aim of this study is to make clear the conception ?Sustainable Urban Development? through an investigation dealing with how the sustainable goals are attained in today?s Swedish urban planning. And also try to clarify where and why sustainable development is failing or lacking. Besides that I have investigated how actors take position towards urban sustainability. The essay is based on a literature study about sustainable urban development and it?s changes through the time and place.

This essay aims to emphasize and clarify the positions that exist within the current globalization debate. The positions are the neo-liberal, the opponents, the pragmatists and the skeptics. The text presents and explains their ideological, moral and political positions and beliefs about the world, the nation state, the society and the individual; in light of Steven Lukes? and Antonio Gramsci's theories regarding the interaction and the relationship between power and hegemony. The methodological starting point is the ideology-critical analysis; in which their arguments in the current globalization debate is highlighted and categorized.

Detta fungerar vÀldigt bra, studier har visat att agenterna pÄverkar anvÀndares engagemang i lÀrsystemet och det pÄverkar Àven prestationen i lÀrsystemet och minnet för det anvÀndaren lÀrt sig. LÀrsystem med pedagogiska agenter pÄverkar Àven instÀllningen till matematik positivt. Agenternas olika kön sÀgs pÄverka anvÀndare olika, maskulina agenter sÀgs leda till bÀttre prestation Àn de feminina agenterna. Dessa skillnader tros bero pÄ de stereotyper vi mÀnniskor tillskriver bÄde mÀnniskor och fiktiva karaktÀrer för att veta hur nÄgon beter sig och hur man sjÀlv ska bete sig i relation till denne.

The main purpose with this thesis has been to study the design philosophy of Bruno Mathsson, how he worked with his houses and the landscape surrounding them and which kind of inspiration sources he had. My work started when I during the autumn 2004 got involved in an existing project related to one of his glass houses. The glass house is situated in Kosta and has during the last fifteen years suffered from so much vandalism and decay that it has become a problem for the municipality of Lessebo. The intentions are to restore the house and to transform it to a center for Swedish design, also containing a store and a café as well as hosting one apartment for scholarship students. My task in this project was to form and develop the outdoor environment in connection to the house.

I dagens segregationsdiskurs lÀggs fokus ofta pÄ de storskaliga miljonprogrammen. De mÀnniskor som bor dÀr beskylls ofta för att sjÀlva vara orsaken till segregationsproblemen. En vanlig uppfattning Àr att dessa mÀnniskor genom egna val bidragit till de segregationsmönster vi har idag. SÀllan belyses andra gruppers val som orsak till fenomenet. Miljonprogrammet uppfördes mellan 1965 och 1975 av den socialdemokratiska regeringen som en symbol för det moderna vÀlfÀrdssamhÀllet.
