AB Sandvik Coromant är en världsledande tillverkare av skär och verktyg för skärande bearbetning. Gimoverken är Sandvik Coromants största skärtillverkande enhet. GHMP är en avdelning som förser skärtillverkningen på Gimoverken, och även andra produktionsenheter runt om i världen, med pressverktyg.Under en tid har man på GHMP haft ett bristande fokus på lagerstyrning. Detta har lett till att produktionslagret på GHMP i praktiken endast har haft som uppgift att garantera tillgänglighet av artiklar som är nödvändiga för att produktionen ska kunna operera oavbrutet. Bristen på aktivt arbete med lagerhållning och inköpsmönster har med tiden lett till en misstanke om att lagernivåerna är onödigt höga samt att inköpsmönstren inte speglar förbrukningen.För att minska lagernivåerna på GHMP har man initierat detta projekt med målet att halvera det bundna kapitalet i produktionslagret samt att förbättra avdelningens lagerstyrning.För att lyckas med uppgiften har en programvara med en inbyggd optimerande modell skapats.

On today?s competitive market, it is difficult to achieve profitability trough high prices on manufactured products. Profitability must be obtained through low manufacturing costs, high quality and short lead times. One of the companies on the market is Sandvik Coromant, manufacturer of tools and chips for metal cutting. This master thesis investigates the methods of manufacturing for boring bars at the manufacturing unit GVH4 at Sandvik Coromant in Gimo, Sweden.

This thesis is a survey and also an investigation of the different factors that affects the cracking that occurs in the inserts at AB Sandvik Coromants production in Gimo. The work that has been done has focused on two main factors, namely, powder characteristics and pressing parameters.AB Sandvik Coromant produces tools and tooling systems for metal cutting. They have some problems in their production of inserts. The problem is that cracks sometimes occur in the body of the insert, after it´s pressed. In order to investigate this, a preliminary study was made in which production principles were studied.

Under hösten 2010 genomfördes geometrianalys hos Sandvik Coromant AB i Sandviken. Denna analys var en empirisk studie av mikro- och makrogeometrier hos artiklarna CNMG 120408 PM samt CNMG 120408 PR. Vid laboratorietesterna valdes skärdata så att följande deformationstyper provocerades fram; eggbrott, stukning, doppning och fasförslitning. Vidare genomfördes skärkraftstester med kontroll av spånbrytning. Resultatet av studien visar att de mikrogeometriförändringar som infördes inte påverkar spånbrytningen, medan skärkrafter och deformationer påverkas.

Bakgrunden till detta examensarbete är ett behov av att införa vibrationsmätning i form av ett tillståndsbaserat underhåll vid AB Sandvik Coromants produktionsanläggning i Gimo. Underhållsarbetet på AB Sandvik Coromant i Gimo bedrivdes vid tidpunkten för studien som avhjälpande och förebyggande med olika fasta underhållsintervaller. Att införa tillståndsbaserat underhåll skulle kunna reducera kostnaderna, samt medföra en ökad uppföljning av varje maskin i form av hälsotillstånd. Målsättningen med examensarbetet var att utvärdera vibrationer som mätmetod. Arbetet har innefattat fyra, huvudsakliga moment.

This report is the result of a thesis carried out during the spring of 2010 at Sandvik Coromant in Gimo. The purpose of this thesis has been to make an inventory and mapping of information used by flow groups that are most relevant for the day-to-day work. This mapping will then form the basis for information supplied by an automated system.The project consisted of:Identifying how the information is supplied today.Inquiring into the needs of an automated system.Which needs of information that will be provided by the system.Data collection occurred in two ways, both through observations and interviews. Observations of the participants were carried out early in the thesis, where the aim was to create a picture of the problem, and gradually develop a basis for the actual interview study. At each observation, an unstructured observation was used, which means that all activity was recorded.

This thesis has been done at the powder department (GH) at AB Sandvik Coromant in Gimo. With a rheometer measurements has been made on raw materials and powder blends. The focus of this report has been to find correlations between raw material powders and press data, comparisons have also been made between raw materials and powder blends.The rheometer can show information of how a powder act in flow conditions, together with air and with pressure. Analyses has been done comparing the rheometer data with press parameters (for example: rejected orders, weight variations and the compaction pressure) with the goal to find correlations between the powders flow properties and the powders compaction in production.The measurements and analyses have been showing that the powder flow properties depends on the powders composition and that properties like flow rate, aeration and permeability varies between powder blends and batches of the same powder sort. It seems to exist a correlation between the pressure force and the flow rate of a raw material.

During the milling of Sandvik Coromant?s world leading Drill with replaceable inserts,the CoroDrill880©, burrs appear around the milled surfaces. The burrs are removedusing different methods, one of which is deburring with special brushing machines thatare integrated into milling cells. The machines of the type Sinjet, use a Siemensguidance system. The deburring results are not satisfying and manual deburring isrequired afterwards.

I Finspång ligger företaget Siemens Industrial Turbomachinery AB som konstruerar, tillverkar och säljer bl. a. ångturbiner. En av de ingående komponenterna i dessa turbiner är mellanväggarna, vars uppgift består i att rikta ångflödet mot de roterande skovlarna. Examensarbetet gick ut på att effektivisera tillverkningsprocessen kring dessa mellanväggar.

I detta projekt har det undersökts om det är möjligt att använda en beräkningsmodell vid utvärdering av utmattningshållfasthet på fräskroppar. Bakgrunden är den att det tidigare sättet att utvärdera fräskropparnas utmattningshållfasthet kräver verkliga kroppar som bearbetas till utmattning. Med en beräkningsmodell skulle det enbart behövas en kropp skapad i något solidmodelleringsprogram. Detta skulle minska resursanvändningen och göra produktutvecklingsprocessen snabbare. Projektet har utförts vid Sandvik Coromant i Sandviken som utvecklar och bedriver forskning inom skärande bearbetning med inriktning mot fräsning.

The surface finishing technique called black oxidation is currently being used on thetool holders made of low alloyed tool steel produced by Sandvik Coromant. Blackoxidation isn?t considered a sufficient technique because it doesn?t make the toolholders look like the quality products that they actually are. The reasoning behind thisis that the tool holders can show signs of corrosion after prolonged storing times orin countries with high humidity and temperature. The corrosion doesn?t decrease thetool holders performance, but the customers might believe otherwise.

A manufacturing machine at the engineering company Sandvik Coromant has a positioning table which task is to move an item linearly. The positioning table has a linear motor capable of high velocity and acceleration. This makes it possible to achieve short cycle times and a more profitable production.The purpose of this thesis is to bring forward a new concept which is more adapted to the requirements of the positioning table. The reason is that the current positioning table provides an unnecessarily positioning accuracy of 0.01 mm, while the requirement for the positioning accuracy is just 0.1 mm. The goal is to reduce manufacturing and component costs.To develop a suitable solution an approach for the concept development process has been performed.

Denna uppsats tar upp energianvändningen för kyla och värme inom industri. En fallstudie har gjorts på Sandvik AB:s industriområde i Sandviken där en fastighet besörjs med sorptionskyla från ett luftbehandlingsaggregat för att få ett inneklimat med rätt temperatur och luftfuktighet. I fastigheten tillverkas verktyg till bland annat borrning, fräsning och svarvning. Vid denna tillverkning så krävs det kyla till maskiner och oljerening, denna kyla levereras av kylmaskiner.  Sorptionsprocessen innebär ett värmebehov under sommaren.
