Even though the statistics of bad health somewhat have dropped, the problems still remain. Many companies are wrestling with this and are suffering from huge financial losses due to the costs of people frequently calling in sick for work. This has resulted in an increasingly high expansion of different types of preventive measures in order to avert health problems. But far from all companies reach these goals and it is there for of high value to study how important resources can be used in a more efficient way.The purpose of this study is to achieve a deeper understanding for Health promotive services in companies and to understand which influential factors are crucial in the process of reaching successful strategic Health promotions.

Manöverkrigets förutsättning : En kvalitativ studie om förhållandet mellan praktik och teori

The term maneuver warfare is frequently used in western defense doctrines and theoreticaltextbooks. The ambition of the Swedish armed forces is to attempt maneuver warfare in allappropriate situations. Theories and doctrines indicate the importance of decentralized command and control systems. Mission command (Auftragstaktik) is one such system and should be applied to all situations of the Swedish Armed Forces. There are theoretical and doctrinal bases for warfare and command, but in practice, what are the preconditions for this? Previous research addresses many theoretical questions but there are flaws in existing studies investigating practical realities.The purpose of this study has been to reach a deeper understanding of armed forces ability to maneuver warfare by analyzing conformity of command and leadership perspectives in practice.This is an interview-based qualitative case study in which respondent´s statements were analyzed and interpreted in relation to a theoretical framework.

This case study aims to find out whether the promotion of Swedish news through push technology, and the selection process behind it, obeys the traditional criteria of news values.A months-worth of push notifications, sent out by the mobile phone applications of newspapers Dagens Nyheter and Expressen, were analysed through the application of a number of taxonomies meant to determine their newsworthiness.These taxonomies were, however, based on 20th century media, and do not necessarily adapt well to analysis of digital news publication forms. The purpose of this study is therefore to find out which criteria are still relevant to the news selection behind a digitalformat such as push notifications; and which have become obsolete.The basis of this study is the criteria of news values originally designed by Galtung and Ruge in 1965 and revised by Harcup and O?Neill in 2001; as well as the model of assessing front page news proposed by Hvitfelt. The content analysis was conducted in a manner as similar to that of Harcup and O?Neill?s own study as possible, so as to constitute a re-revisal ?revamped for the digital age.Our results show that the criterion of ?frequency? ? that is the conformance between the time-span of an event and the publication frequency of a medium ? has acquired an ambiguous importance.

Since January 1st 2005, public companies within the European Union shall prepare their consolidated accounts in conformity with the international accounting standards. The adopted accounting standards are IASB?s IAS/IFRS completed with interpretations. Furthermore, member states may permit or require public companies to prepare their annual accounts according to IAS/IFRS. Sweden has not yet given companies the ability to use IAS/IFRS in the annual accounts due to taxation difficulties the strong relationship between accounting and taxation brings.

VVA-strategier för avgastemperaturhöjning på en HD-Dieselmotor

Regulations on the exhaust emissions of HD-diesel engines are becoming more and more stringent, and therefore, emission after-treatment systems are commonly used. These systems rely on catalytic conversion of NOx,CO , and HC emissions, and are thus dependant on temperature. At low load of the engine, exhaust temperatures are not sufficient for the after-treatment components. Therefore, means to increase the exhaust temperature while maintaining low emissions and fuel consumption are needed.The focus of this project has been to develop strategies for the lift profiles of exhaust and intake valves in the engine, with the goal to raise exhaust temperature in combination with low emissions and fuel consumption. The strategies have been tested in a single-cylinder research engine equipped with a hydraulic variable valve actuation system.

Mätning av ekosystemtjänster i jordbrukslandskapet :

Abstract In order to make the modern agriculture less dependent on non-renewable external inputs, it has to rely more on ecosystem services. The agricultural system produce not only food, fiber and fuel, it also generates other ecosystem services such as e.g. photosynthesis, recycling of nutrients, influencing local microclimate, pollination, biological control and detoxification of noxious chemicals. This study is an attempt to get a better understanding about the interaction among different ecosystem services and different habitats capacity to generate them. An evaluation of eight different methods is done. The ecosystem services studied are the ability to absorb solar energy, biomass production, botanical diversity, decomposition and natural predation of aphids.

Konflikters påverkan i organisationer

Organisationer är beroende av ledare och medarbetare. I yrken som berör andra människor har kommunikation och bemötande stor betydelse och kräver vissa egenskaper hos personalen. Där möten med andra sker uppstår ibland konflikter. Studien omfattar både en kvalitativ och en kvantitativ del. Syftet med studien var att studera ledare och medarbetares upplevelse och hantering samt konsekvenser som kan uppstå i samband med konflikter.  En intervjustudie med tre ledare och en enkätstudie med 59 medarbetare genomfördes i tre organisationer som har sin verksamhet inom LSS.

Djurrättsrörelsen Mobilisering och Framgångar i Nederländerna och Storbritannien : En Komparativ Analys av Betydelsen av Politiska Institutioner i skenet av Political Opportunity Structure.

Several previous studies have in different ways tried to explain how new social movements are affected by the different sets of political and social contexts within different states and societies. This essay asks the question how much the institutional aspects within the theory of Political Opportunity Structures (POS) have determined how the rather successful animal rights movements in the Netherlands and Great Britain have mobilized and acted to gain progress. Since the Netherlands and Great Britain contains different kinds of political and institutional contexts, these two states are found to be suitable for a comparative analysis of the theory's durability. A qualitative portrayal of both state's institutional political opportunity structures are presented. Then the mobilization, progress, and actions of the political party ?Party for the Animals? in the Netherlands, and a wide group of animal rights organisations in Great Britain are determined.

Knutby och stockholmssyndromet. : En religionspsykologisk undersökning avstockholmssyndromets koppling till våld i religiösa rörelser.

In January 2004 two members of the Pentecostal community Knutby Filadelfia in Uppsalamunicipality, Sweden, were shot by their fellow member Sara Svensson. With a qualitative hermeneutic case study as the principal method this essay takes on the task of not only investigating if and how Stockholm Syndrome can be used as a model for interpreting and understanding the violent incident in Knutby Filadelfia, but also to see if the unique characteristic of the Knutby incident can tell us something about Stockholm Syndrome as a model for understanding violence in religious movements. The material shows Stockholm Syndrome as having been present in Knutby because of among other things, a mileu, leadership and theology that supported the normalization of abuse and the enabling and maintaining of self punishment in the community. While Stockholm Syndrome still is a controversial theory this study shows that it can be used as a powerful tool in the understanding of violence in religious contexts..

Möjligtvis stressad? En kvalitativ studie om stress på ekonomiskt bistånd, en enhet på Socialtjänsten

The purpose of this study was to examine and illustrate whether employed social workers, working with supplementary benefits at a social service office, felt stressed. If so was the case, we wanted to investigate if this stress that they felt had any effect on their clients. This study was based on eight qualitative interviews, of which four was with social workers and four was with clients. For a better understanding of our results we used Karasek & Theorells demand-control-support model.The study reveals that the social workers do feel stressed, but they only do so in periods. They declare that they would like to have more time for their work assignments, the meetings with the clients in particulate.

Radiografisk undersökning av belastade knän vid artrosfrågeställning : Jämförelse av stråldoser och undersökningstid

Syfte: Att jämföra patientens totala stråldos och undersökningstid från metoderna konventionell röntgen och genomlysning vid undersökningen belastade knän med artrosfrågeställning.Metod: Datainsamlingen utfördes genom att det delades ut dosprotokoll där röntgensjuksköterskorna på röntgenavdelningen fick skriva upp stråldoser och undersökningstid. Datainsamlingen gjordes under en fyraveckorsperiod på ett medelstort sjukhus i Sverige. Datainsamlingen jämfördes genom en hypotesprövning där det utfördes ett Mann-Whitney U-test med en signifikansnivå på fem procent för att se om nollhypotesen (ingen skillnad i stråldos eller tid) höll.Resultat: Studiens nollhypotes för stråldoserna förkastades som hade medelvärdet 444,37 mGycm² (genomlysning) och 212,24 mGycm² (konventionell röntgen). Nollhypotesen för undersökningstiderna förkastades också som hade medelvärdena 5,08 minuter (genomlysning) och 8,48 minuter (konventionell röntgen). Signifikansnivån för båda faktorerna var lägre än 0,001 och därför behölls mothypoteserna att det fanns en skillnad mellan modaliteterna.Slutsats: Studiens resultat visade att konventionell röntgen är den bäst lämpade metoden att använda stråldosmässigt medan genomlysningen är bäst lämpad tidsmässigt.

Karriärväxlande officerares kompetens och anställningsbarhet på civil arbetsmarknad.

The downsizing of the Swedish armed forces during the late 20th century and early 21 th century has caused several thousand people to choose a different career. This undergraduate thesis investigates the self-observed employability and work-place competence of a number of Swedish armed forces officers who has made the transition to a civil career. The thesis seeks to answer questions about how the transition is comprehended, how military merits and competences are valued in civil work places and which differences in ability to use their competences the respondents experience. The study is made using qualitative interviews, which are analysed using a miexed method inspired by phenomenological method. The findings include that the essence of the respondents emplooyability is a shared work indentity as miltary officers and a common experienced problem in translating their merits.

Erfarenheter och ledarskapsutbildning ur perspektivet av upplevelsebaserat lärande

Syftet med denna uppsats är att genom granskning av ledarskapsutbildningen vid YOP 06/09, samt händelser och upplevelser kopplat till utlandsstyrkan, undersöka huruvida utbildningsmetodiken inom ramen för ledarskapsutbildningen vid YOP 06/09 kan anses som relevant.Frågeställningarna i detta arbete är:-          Tillämpas upplevelsebaserat lärande inom utlandsstyrkan?-          Tillämpas upplevelsebaserat lärande inom ledarskapsutbildningen vid YOP 06/09?Tillvägagångssättet för att nå ett svar på dessa frågor är en deskriptiv avhandling beträffande UBL, utbildningsmetoder vid YOP06/09. Dessutom granskas både delar ur ledarskapsutbildningen vid YOP 06/09 samt  upplevelser och erfarenheter från utlandsstyrkan utifrån ett UBL perspektiv. Resultatet som framkommer av diskussionen visar att UBL tillämpas i utlandsstyrkan inom ramen för detta arbetes avgränsningar. Tillämpningen av UBL inom ledarskapsutbildningen vid YOP 06/09 är dock att se som begränsad. Det framkommer däremot alternativa sätt att tolka tillämpningen vilket leder till att utbildningsmetoderna i högre omfattning kan ses som relevanta i ett större tidsperspektiv..

Prestandaförändringen hos en bergvärmeanläggning efter fem års drifttid

The aim of this report was to do a case study at a geothermal heating system which has been in operation for about 5 years, and study if its performance has changed during this period of time. A literature study about the processes involved was also done in purpose of background knowledge.The tenant-owner?s association Duvan at Petterslundsgatan in Uppsala installed year 1999-2000 a geothermal heating system. The purpose of this installation was that they hoped it would lead to a smaller usage of district heating which would lead to a reduction of the heating expenses for their buildings. The geothermal heating system consists of 19 energy wells and 4 geothermal heat pumps, and it is one of the first systems of that size in the region of Uppsala.
