Future emission legislation puts great emphasis on increasing the efficiency of the engine, thereby reducing fuel consumption. The tribological contact between cylinder liner and piston ring is where an great amount of energy is lost due to friction, and by reducing these losses an reduction in fuel consumption can be achieved.The aim of this thesis was to evaluate the tested piston ring coatings against a plasma sprayed cylinder liner and rank these combinations of materials for friction and wear resistance. The coatings that were tested was Cr + Al2O3, (Al,Cr)N, two types of CrN and WC / C.The experimental tests were performed with a so-called pin-plate, where used oil with addition of an acidic mixture of sulfuric and nitric acid to mimic the acidic condensate formed when exhausts recirculate, were added with a continuous flow. The results were then analyzed by weighing, studies by optical microscopy and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and profile measurements.The results from each material combination were that the plasma coated cylinder liner wears too aggressively in order to yield a ranking of the piston ring coatings based on the parameters of friction and wear resistance. It is therefore proposed that an alternative coating on the cylinder liner should be developed, lacking the large abrasive wear on piston rings and that can withstand the corrosive environment resulting in engines equipped with EGR.

Abstract The aim of this paper is to investigate whether Vara municipality has a continuous picture of their identity, profile and image. Globalization has contributed to the increasingly growing of place marketing. Therefore, the study goes on to using the concepts of identity, profile and image to find out if Vara Municipality communicates similar throughout the whole organization and find out their all through core values. Globalisation will be an interpretive framework for the work that describes why the place marketing is becoming more pressing. The sense of place will be a central part of this study as it is the feelings and images of different places that will be described by the municipality together with the identity, profile and image.

Purpose: The purpose of the investigation is to give an insight to hot the EU legal environment in the field of vertical relationships influences the competitiveness of the 2nd tier of the automobile industry. Conclusion:It follows that European legislation has succeedded in raising the competitiveness by breaking down the powers of the predominantly more powerful companies that the 2nd tier players do business with and by giving companies sufficient leeway to act. The comment must be made here that serious problems due to a power misbalance might still exist yet are not uncovered. In the course of my research I have found a lack of issues in my subject field. These problems however would have a more structural and economical cause, dealing with these problems would fall outside the boundaries of the competence of European competition legislation.

The public sector has through the years been exposed to a rather radical alteration. The aim with this alteration has been to make the public sector more effective. It?s a dynamic society that Norrbottens läns landsting (NLL) operates in today and it is therefore of great importance that the managers get a solid foundation to rely on, since they have a central role in the ambition for efficiency. Another reason to educating the managers is that NLL can secure the future pension losses.

Organisationer har under den senaste tiden gjort stora ansträngningar för att integrera informationssystem med målsättningen att uppnå en ökad effektivitet men utan större framgång. Vi vill identifiera rådande kritiska framgångsfaktorer och deras påverkan på portallösningar. Utifrån syftet identifierade vi två centrala områden för litteraturstudien, närmare bestämt ?Enterprise Application Integration? (EAI) och kritiska framgångsfaktorer (CSF). Insamling av empirisk data gjordes i form av intervjuer på ett kvalitativt tillvägagångssätt.

Sweden is usually seen as a role model when it comes to integration and diversity, but at the top of the pyramid there is little ethnical diversity to be found. This paper investigates how existing economical and sociological theory explain the lack of swedes with foreign background in leading positions in large Swedish companies. Our findings show that none of the theories applied in this paper can explain the phenomenon in isolation. Thus it is not only taken for granted norms, contacts in one's network or cost minimizing under asymmetric information that lie behind the phenomenon, but an interaction of these aspects. Conflicting demands lead the recruiters to separate talk from decision, the search frame is narrow and no or small efforts are made to increase the diversity.

Detta uppdragsbaserade arbete är en del av ett stort projekt som Göteborgs Hamn AB driver, vars syfte är att förnya det nuvarande brandskyddet i Energihamnen och även möta framtida krav. Syftet med föreliggande studie var att undersöka vilka förväntningar personal vid rederier och fartygsbefäl som regelbundet anlöper Energihamnen har på Göteborgs Hamn AB:s brandskyddsutrustning och brandberedskapsplaner. Vidare undersöktes vilken brandskyddsutrustning några av de tankfartyg som regelbundet anlöper Energihamnen har ombord, även vilka krav som ligger till grund för den utrustningen. För att få svar på ovanstående syfte kombinerades intervjuer med personal vid tre rederikontor och fem fartygsbefäl från samma rederier med en litteraturstudie. Litteraturstudien består av en sammanställning av de regelverk som ställer specifika krav och rekommendationer för det brandskydd som ska finnas ombord på tankfartyg.

Many enterprises have shortcomings in the transfer of information between different departments. Furthermore, routines for maintaining knowledge in order to be able to use this experience in the future are often lacking. Time and resources spent on improving these systems and procedures can provide significant benefits in terms of saved time and reduced costs in the later stages of a project. The benefit of this is not only a greater clarity and a reduced risk of misunderstandings, but also the preservation of knowledge that would otherwise be lost.The aim of this study has been to examine the process of information transfer and the transfer of knowledge between the calculus department and production manager in projects at Erlandsson Bygg i Öst AB. An additional aim was suggestions for improvements in the calculation handover and at the end of a project, where it was possible.The study was primarily conducted through literature studies and interviews.

Purpose: The purpose of this paper is to contribute with knowledge regarding the connection between the socialization process and the organizational commitment perceived by junior accountants. Based on Van Maanen and Schein's (1979) model, we intend to identify and describe how selected socialization strategies affect junior accountants? perceived affective, continuous and normative commitment during the initial five years in the firm.Research methodology: Semi-structured interview was chosen as the key approach for gathering essential data. Interviews were conducted at three major accounting firms with a total of eight interview participants. The study has a qualitative approach because of the ability to go in depth on the studied phenomenon.Conclusion: The socialization process consists of individual, informal, sequential, fixed, serial, and investiture strategies.

Migration och folkomflyttningar är starkt relaterat till skeenden i vår omvärld och kopplade till globala strukturer och problem. Sverige blir i detta sammanhang ett mottagarland för migration i vilket strategier för immigranters integrering ställs i relation till samhälls- och arbetsmarknadsutveckling. För immigranters lyckade integration kopplas nationell integrationspolitik starkt till den förda arbetsmarknadspolitiken. Det statligt styrda organet Arbetsförmedlingen får här en nyckelroll för immigranters integration och tillträde till arbetslivet. Trots ett långtgående och omfattande samhällsarbete påvisar statistik och tidigare forskning att immigranter utgör en exkluderad grupp på arbetsmarknaden i förhållande till infödda individer.Denna studie syftar till att med fokus på de sociala nätverkens roll få förståelse för arbetsförmedlares upplevelser av strukturella brister på den svenska arbetsmarknaden i deras arbete med enskilda immigranter.

Syftet med den här studien är att ta del av några föräldrars och pedagogers tankar kring integrering av elever med Downs syndrom i grundskolans verksamhet. Undersökningen bygger på kvalitativa intervjuer med åtta personer, fyra föräldrar och fyra pedagoger. Intervjuerna har genomförts i två olika kommuner. Utifrån genomförda intervjuer framkommer det att alla deltagare är av den uppfattningen att integrering fungerar bra och påverkar eleverna positivt. Både föräldrar och pedagoger är av åsikten att den integrering de har erfarenhet av har fungerat nästintill optimalt.

Adjustment to acquired hearing loss can be understood as a process of learning and change where the point of departure is the subjective apppraisal of a person?s hearing loss in a social and cultural context. The aim of the study was to describe women?s thoughts, emotions and actions prior to audiological rehabilitation, since these are considered important for the ongoing process of adjustment and for the planning of rehabilitation. A phenomenographical approach was used in order to describe the variation in the women?s attitudes before attending rehabilitation.

This is a comparative study of six public libraries in the city of Gothenburg and its neighbourhood. The main purpose of this master thesis is to describe these libraries relating to a reform in the city council of Gothenburg and its neighbourhood. The comparison deals with a period of ten years, 1990-2000. In order to respond to this I formulated two questions: Are there any differences in the activities of these libraries? Has this reform influenced the librarians in their way of working and if so, why? I have studied relevant literature such as annual reports, investigations and analyses in order to be able to formulate the questions.

Since the late 1900s, the consultancy has taken a firm grip on the labor market. The consultants' work profile has been secured through agreements such as guaranteed wages. The collective has been shattered as well as higher demands are required of the employee. This results in higher work demands, workload, a reduced staffing resource and hopeless wages which can lead to health problems and depressions. Previous research shows that consultants find it stressful to be associated with two companies and some clients can also point out consultant through different attributes.

Uppsatsen Tjeckien och EU ? associationsavtalets effekter på handel och specialisering är en ekonomisk studie med behandling av handelsdata som belyser Tjeckiens ekonomiska transition. Denna studie har främst gjorts med syftet att analysera associationsavtalets inverkan på handeln mellan Tjeckien och EU. Det är främst effekterna av avtalet ur ett handelsalstrings- och handelsomfördelningsperspektiv, samt integrationens effekter på den tjeckiska specialiseringen som behandlas. Slutligen diskuteras även hur handeln mellan dessa två parter kan tänkas påverkas av Tjeckiens medlemskap i EU.Processen för landet har varit sådan från att först nästintill ha varit en autarki, till att senare ha blivit frihandelspartner till EU och slutligen fullvärdig medlem av Europeiska Unionen.
