The purpose of this study was to examine how school counselors in a specific municipalityviewed their work situation, if they experienced stress and how they would handle that stress.Five school counselors out of eight in the specific municipality participated in qualitativeinterviews where they could describe their feelings and thoughts. Their experiences wasexamined and analyzed with the theories of coping and empowerment. The results showedthat there were unhealthy levels of stress in the profession amongst the five counselors. It alsoshowed that the uttermost reason for the experienced unhealthy stress was the feeling of notbeing able to give as much time and help to the pupils as they want and need. The reason forthis was that an increasing number of pupils were, and are, experiencing unhappiness and arein need of seeing the school counselor.

Vårt syfte är att se hur begreppet socialt arbete konstrueras genom tal och text, av studenterna på socialarbetarprogrammet Högskolan Dalarna. Detta har vi gjort genom att titta på hur diskursen socialt arbete ser ut hos studenterna på termin ett respektive termin fem. Vi kommer att titta på frågeställningarna ur ett socialkonstruktionistiskt perspektiv för att se hur studenterna med hjälp av språket konstruerar innebörden av begreppet socialt arbete. Vi gjorde sex stycken semistrukturerade intervjuer som vi sedan har analyserat genom ett diskursanalytiskt perspektiv. Vi har använt oss av Norman Fairclough kritiska diskursanalys men har anpassat hans modell till vår undersöknings syfte och frågeställning.

The aim of this study has been to highlight how school social workers experience their discretion, and furthermore how they feel about working in a context mainly dedicated to teachers. The study is executed with a qualitative research method where ten interviews with school social workers, in eight schools in the area of Stockholm have been conducted. The theoretical framework used to analyze the results was discretion, street-level bureaucracy and human service organizations.The main findings of this study imply that the most important ambition of the social work that was conducted in the schools was to help the students reach their knowledge goals. The assignment is, however, not clearly defined, which has lead to school social workers defining the mission and goals themselves. They all have wide discretion and great possibilities to decide how to execute their work, but how they use the freedom that was given seems to vary among them.

The aim of this study was to examine the knowledge and the experience that school counsellors have about tics and Tourette syndrome. This study is based on a qualitative research which we conducted with semi-structured interviews. We have done five interviews with different school counsellors in a small municipality in southern Sweden. The theoretical approach that was used in this study was theory of knowledge as a comprehensive theory and professional competence which includes formal knowledge and tacit knowledge. Some of the study?s conclusions are that the School Counsellors had different professional competence about tics and Tourette syndrome.

The last ten years two major movies about journalists have been made in Sweden; Sprängaren and Män som hatar kvinnor. This study has looked closer at the heroine Annika Bengtsson and the hero Mikael Blomkvist from these two movies. Since movies do have great influence on how we see the world it is important to find out how these characters are being portrayed. Also, in a time when journalism is about to become a female dominant occupation it is relevant to see how the female journalist compares to the male. It is important to ensure that the films do not give a wrongful picture of male and female journalists.

The Swedish school is today a meeting place for many people with different cultures. The teacher education at Södertörn University have since 2002 been influenced by an intercultural profile. The purpose of this study is to investigate how the intercultural profile of Södertörn University is expressed in preschool- teachers/ teachers work. Is an intercultural approach requested in schools and is intercultural approach useful and applicable in the teaching profession? The report is based on a qualitative study of what intercultural competence means for five preschool- teachers/ teachers who have graduated from Södertörn University.

The issues in the essay are; What are the cultural values of a ruin?  How have ruins been used?  How are ruins treated today?Initially the definition of the concept ?ruin? is discussed, what is a ruin? A building has an architectural biography: the creation, destruction, change and the decay. The concept of ruin is considered to be a state of this decay, rather than a dead building.

This is a thesis written at the Swedish University of Agriculture inAlnarp within the landscape architecture education. The essay dealswith the landscape architect's professional identity and how it isdescribed in different contexts along with how it is perceived byprofessional landscape architects.Misunderstandings and preconceptions concerning the landscapearchitect's professional identity is common, both within and outsidethe branch of industry that includes the vocation. This raises problemswithin the industry and for the individual landscape architect. To findout if the root of the problems lies in available descriptions of theoccupation a study has been made. The study includes how thelandscape architect is defined in easily accessible information fromthe internet and in literature as well as in industry-orientedinformation such as dissertations and information from SverigesArkitekter (the Swedish Architects).

Prestationsmätning används för att mäta anställdas prestationer och ett sätt att utvärdera dessa är genom att använda feedback. Feedback ger möjlighet att diskutera individers styrkor respektive svagheter och kan användas för att påverka ett beteende och framförallt för att påverka en individs arbetsinsats. När feedback ska förmedlas är det viktigt att återkoppling är anpassad efter personen som ska ta del av den för att feedbacken ska bli så effektiv som möjligt. Mottagaren av feedbacken bör se detta som något positivt för att förstå hur dennes handlingar påverkar både sin egen och hela organisationens prestation. Hur feedback förmedlas inom olika professioner kan variera på grund av att olika professioner också utvärderas på olika sätt.

Syftet med min undersökning var att belysa förutsättningen för studie- och yrkesvägledaren att utföra sitt uppdrag beroende på rektors strategier att implementera studie- och yrkesvägledning i hela organisationen. Detta ämnade jag belysa på en kommunal gymnasieskola ur ett ledarskaps och organisationsperspektiv. De två frågeställningarna var på vilket sätt påverkas studie- ochyrkesvägledarens förutsättningar att utföra sitt uppdrag beroende av hur implementeringen av att studie- och yrkesorienteringen skett i organisationen samt på vilket sätt ledarskapet och organisationen av studie- och yrkesvägledningen kan underlätta för studie- och yrkesvägledarenatt utföra sitt uppdrag i organisationen. Jag utförde undersökningen med hjälp av kvalitativa semistrukturerade forskningsintervjuer. I undersökningen intervjuades tre rektorer och tre studie- och yrkesvägledare.

Middle managers in social care find themselves in a middle position. The middle management position involves demands from several interested parties. The demands affect and generate feelings both within themselves and within others and the middle managers have to deal with them all.The aim of this study was to investigate the social care middle manager?s personal experiences of emotions in work.We have completed interviews with four middle managers who are assigned to carry out social care. When doing the interviews we used an interview guide divided into different interview areas.

In this thesis, we are concerned with the many different professional roles that a public librarian, working at a small library, has. More specifically, the purpose is to find out which different roles that librarians believe they have, and which view they have upon those. Furthermore, we are exploring the tendencies that librarians discuss in relation to these professional roles. To pursue this goal, we have used the methodology of focus group interviews, with the unconventional twist that our interviews were done using web chats. This may have the advantage that the informants may present more honest views than when using ordinary interviews due to the anonymous character of chatting.

Forestry has three main aspects to take into consideration today; economical, ecological and socio-cultural. In order to reach the broad policy goals for sustainable forest management, an increased variety of management approaches are requested. Today clear-cutting is the only method used in 96 % of the managed forests in Sweden. The Swedish National Board of Forestry has therefore initiated a project in order to investigate and develop Continuous Cover Forestry (CFF). This study is a part of this project.
