Rapporten beskriver ett examensarbete som utförts som en avslutning på Civilingenjörsprogrammet inom maskinteknik med inriktningen konstruktion på Luleå tekniska universitet, LTU. Examensarbetet utfördes i samarbete med Jama Mining Machines AB av Johan Forslund, delvis på plats i Skelleftehamn och delvis på LTU. Målet är att öka hållfastheten på två av Jama Mining Machines komponenter som återfinns i bommen på skrotaren SBU 8000 med rotator. Detta genom att ändra de specifika komponenternas konstruktion. En grundläggande nulägesanalys av de befintliga komponenterna genomförs för att identifiera vilka förbättringar som är nödvändiga till den nya designen.

Hur kan mobila användare studeras? Frågan blir allt mer aktuell i samband med att vi människor i större utsträckning blir mobila och därmed också använder mobila artefakter som en del av vardagslivet. Denna fråga är framförallt aktuell för de företag som utvecklar denna typ av artefakter. Vi har under detta kandidatarbete samarbetat med ett företag som dagligen ställs inför denna typ av frågor, och vi kommer i denna rapport behandla utvecklingen av en metod för att studera just mobila användare. Att studera användarna är naturligt, då det är de som är nyckeln till vilka tjänster och artefakter som just de har användning för.

Problemområde: Versionshanteringssystem är utvecklade för att identifiera, kontrollera, rapportera och garantera att förändringarna har blivit rätt implementerade. Versionshantering används för att spara all historik av filer som man använder sig av i projektgrupper. Till exempel kan det användas till att se vilka datum ändringar gjorts, vem som har gjort ändringarna och vilka kommentarer som är skrivna om ändringarna. Vi har valt att använda oss av två versionshanteringssystem, Windchill ProjectLink och CVS, Concurrent Versions System, för att undersöka om det är så att både projektets storlek och nytta styr valet av versionshanteringssystem. Hypotes och frågeställningar: Arbetet bygger på hypotesen: ?Om projektets storlek och nytta av versionshanteringssystem är beroende av varandra så styr det valet av versionshanteringssystem? Och våra frågeställningar: ? Hur stort är projektet i antal timmar och personer? ? Hur många moment behövs för varje inre funktion? ? Vilka inre och yttre funktioner påverkar valet av versionshanteringssystem? Genomförande: Kontakt togs med åtta stycken projektgrupper som använder sig av Windchill ProjectLink eller CVS och intervjuer gjordes med dem. En egen undersökning har gjorts där vi mäter antal moment på varje funktion i versionshanteringssystemen.

Reading and analyzing literature has a long tradition of being an essential part of the teaching of English in Sweden. As the offers of entertainment have increased in popular culture with the introduction of computer games, internet and other media, interest in reading novels has decreased. Literature is still a compulsory part of English teaching and the question is how teachers of today use literature and what kind of literary instruction they use.The aim of this study is to explore and discuss the literary instruction discourse in pedagogical texts, lessons, created by and for English teachers of Swedish Upper Secondary Schools. The lessons have been collected from the site lektion.se, where teachers are able to share knowledge and lessons. The study uses an analytical method based on Norman Fairclough´s Critical Discourse Analysis in order to analyze the lessons.

This report was written as a result of a Bachelor Degree Project at the School of Technology and Society at University of Skövde spring 2007, together with Jede AB in Mariestad. The report covers the development of a door to a coffee vending machine that is under construction, and will in a chronological order describe the project from ideas to final product.The project started with a rather extensive feasibility study that thru market research and user tests sorted out the opinions of potential customers, concerning today?s available assortment. Technical areas concerning materials and manufacturing methods were also scrutinized for the consideration of the possibilities of a future production.The next step was to constructively generate ideas and thoughts that later on could grow to be potential solutions. After several weeks of hard work and pieces of good advice and recommendations from the assigner, four comprehensive concepts were built up.

The purpose of this study is to investigate the motives underlying the consumption of alcohol among college students and if the motives differ between genders. The study is based on the following questions: What are the motives underlying alcohol consumption among students? Do these motives differ between men and women? Is there any connection between the motives for alcohol consumption and consumption? The study is a quantitative, empirical comparison study and the data presented is mainly descriptive. The study group consists of students from a university in central Sweden. After an exclusion of five students a total of 81 students participated in the survey, of which 55 were female and 26 were male.

Achievements within the fields of computer- and telecommunication technology have led to a revolution when it comes to managing information. These achievements have made it possible to offer new services in healthcare, especially in telemedicine. New technology has become a complement to traditional care, thus partly compensating for insufficient time and resources. Telephone Linked Care (TLC) is a telecommunication technology that enables automated dialog counselling and monitoring of patients in their homes. During the last two decades numerous randomized controlled studies with TLC have demonstrated improvement among outpatients with chronic and health behaviour disorders.

Problem: Majoriteten av producenterna till musikverk och flertalet av de aktörerna som aktivt är med i debatten om piratkopiering anser att piratkopiering av musik är skadlig samt ett problem för musikindustrin. Kommer deras olika metoder att vara en lösning på problemet eller kommer man åtminstone kunna begränsa denna olagliga aktion? För att mestadels alla ska vara nöjda, finns det möjligtvis en lösning som kan gynna både de som är för piratkopiering och de som är emot piratkopiering? Syfte: Syftet med denna rapport är att belysa problemet med piratkopiering av upphovsrättsskyddat material på Internet. Vi vill även granska konsumenters och aktörers åsikter angående detta och analysera om det finns någon laglig lösning där båda parter kan känna sig gynnade. Metod: Vi har studerat litteratur och utfört intervjuer som sedan har granskats och analyserats. Vi har även letat ny och uppdaterad information på Internet. Resultat: Vi har i vår undersökning kommit fram till att piratkopiering aldrig kommer att kunna stoppas helt.

Competition of spruce fiber raw materials has increased dramatically in the last few years, leading to the fact that transportation costs in the current situation represents a much larger share of the total raw material cost. The Holmen-owned pulp industry Hallsta Paper Mill's location on the coast also constitutes a problem, because of the lack of raw material, which is much larger there, than for a pulp mill located in the hinterland. For a coastal industry it?s therefore natural to import much of the raw material by boat or to buy it from the timber terminals, in order to maintain good profitability. The purpose of this study was to analyze how the size of Hallsta Paper Mill timber supply area, without competition, with competition and with terminal use, affects the company ?s transport costs.

This thesis consider alternatives for heating and cooling planned office buildings at Arlanda airport. The thesis is divided into three parts where the third part is a shorter synthesis of the two first. In the first part the energy demands of the buildings are modelled in a computer program. Two different building models are created, one more conventional and one with good energy properties. The results shows that with proper construction and ventilation systems etc.

Vi har gjort vårt kandidatarbete på en webbyrå i Stockholm som heter Boman Communication. Där har vi gjort en databasdriven webbplats i flash och asp. Webbplatsen är ett komplement till en kurs som heter EBM. Kursen EBM hålls av myndigheten SBU som i sin tur är en kund till Boman. Målgruppen för EBM och därmed också webbplatsens målgrupp är bland annat professorer och läkare inom medicin och vård.

One of the main tasks of the Swedish Armed Forces over the past few years has been International assignments, which increased the importance of the Lessons Learned process. Methods of simulator training with computers have become more frequent and the technical ability to collect digital data from sensors has been developed as well. This work demonstrates how the experience of Lessons Learned can be communicated with the computer simulator StriSimPC and how modern technology in future support experiences from the Lessons Learned process at the tactical level in the Army.Currently knowledge sharing consists of several processes and strategies in the Swedish Armed Forces. This is done by written reports, oral presentations and different practical exercises.This case study shows the functions of the simulator StriSimPC, methods of training and how it is used today. The study also describes the future opportunities, where digital metadata acquired from the modern combat vehicles could contribute sharing of experience in the Lessons Learned process.The summarized conclusions indicate that StriSimPC can combine the two strategies for personalization and codification of knowledge transfer to reach a higher level of learning.

The problem of separating a non-rectangular foreground image from a background image is a classical problem in image processing and analysis, known as matting or keying. A common example is a film frame where an actor is extracted from the background to later be placed on a different background. Compositing of these objects against a new background is one of the most common operations in the creation of visual effects. When the original background is of non-constant color the matting becomes an under determined problem, for which a unique solution cannot be found. This thesis describes a framework for computing mattes from images with backgrounds of non-constant color, using Bayesian statistics.

The purpose of this paper has been to find out what motives buyers of forest property has for there purchasse, what competence they have in economics and forestry, and what analysis they had done before the purchase. The study is based on interviews with nine different buyers from two geographical areas, five from Hälsingland and four from Småland/Skåne. A forest property is a property where the value to 100 % consist of forest. A part from the interviews every purhase has been analysed in comparison to an estimation of the yield value. The theoretical yield value was estimated with a computer programme.

Beacon AB has been producing Gobos for some time. A Gobo is a small round sheet used in projectors almost like a slide. It is used mostly in the commercial and entertainment business. Today these Gobos are created by using a film (also called mask). A digital exposure machine called LIOS has been developed to make it possible to create Gobos using direct exposure.
