Det platsbyggda extensiva gröna taket på Sparta i Lund anlades i augusti 2006. Taket är det första i Sverige som designats för att integrera ekologiska principer och estetiska värden med varandra. I detta examensarbete är de planterade sedumskotten, pluggplantorna och frösådden på takets tre huvudsektioner inventerade och utvärderade. Vid inventering är stor- och småruteanalysmetoden använd. Utöver de planterade växterna är även de spontanetablerade växterna inventerade.

The basic intention of this study is founded on an ambition to make change within the competing activity at ?Svenska Brukshundklubbens Halmstadavdelning? (SBK Halmstad). This is a local association for owners of working dogs, where I am one of the members. A problem in engage a larger number of voluntarily working members in the association has been established and discussed over several years. My premier aim was to make the members award of different perspectives of the problem.

Technology evolves quickly, with innovative ideas growing everywhere. Still, no technology is anywhere near challenging the mouse and keyboard for navigation of your standard computer. This study focuses on comparing the traditional technologies of mouse and keyboard with the new technology of gestures - in this case Leap Motion - in purpose of finding how the usage differs and what the potential users want from the competing technology. The experiment was executed in a controlled environment, with as few external factors as possible. We found that although the test subjects found Leap Motion fun, the test subjects do not want to surf the web with gestures.

Affärssystemportaler, en affärssystemkomponent som är populär bland större företag, används ofta för att effektivisera inom olika organisatoriska processer. Eftersom en utarbetad metodik för att utvärdera hur affärssystemportaler effektiviserar organisationer saknas, har denna studie haft som syfte att forma en sådan utvärderingsmetodik. Metodiken är baserad på ett etablerat ramverk för utvärdering av organisatorisk effektivitet som sedan blivit anpassat till affärssystemportaler genom användandet av ämnesrelevant teori. Studien innefattar även ett test av utvärderingsmetodiken genom en praktiskt genomförd utvärdering av en affärssystemportal, vilket varit vårt andra syfte. Genomförandet samt resultatet av denna utvärdering ligger sedan till grund för en diskussion där metodikens framgång utvärderas.

In southern Sweden, beech (Fagus silvatica) and spruce (Picea abies) are two species with similar demands on soil properties. With increased global warming and high acid deposition the future may bring larger areas were the two species are overlapping, competing for the same soil. The aim of this study was to compare spruce and beech concerning distribution, cultivation and soil properties. From available data comparisons were made between spruce and beech forests in Sweden. Soil analyses were made on samples from beech forest in southern Sweden, with and without natural regeneration of spruce.

Extensive planting of the tree species lodgepole pine (Pinus contorta var. latifolia) during the 1970s and 80s has resulted in large areas now being available for commercial thinning. However, the varying quality of the stands creates a problem. The purpose of this study was to investigate, at the Torsby district of the Stora Enso forest company, how well the present computer records of the stands correspond to reality and determine which stands are, from a qualitative perspective, suited for timber production. Finding variables that indicate better stands would give Stora Enso the possibility of selecting qualitative stands which are more profitable to thin. The study included 32 stands containing at least 70 % Pinus contorta.

Miljonprogramsområden tillförs ofta negativa attribut och ses av många som ett stort samhällsproblem. Därför är det viktigt att konkretisera vilka problem som finns för att bättre förstå hur de kan lösas. Två av dessa negativa attribut är ödslighet och rumslig förvirring eller svårigheten att skilja på vad som är privat, gemensam och offentlig miljö. Detta är uppsatsens fokus och konkretiseras genom en fallstudie av ett typsikt miljonprogramsområde. Fallstudien utförs på Byälvsvägen, Bagarmossen, i Stockholm.

Stormwater is surface runoff water that originates from precipitation or snowmelt and that on hardened surfaces prevents to infiltrate the ground. In city areas stormwater can consists of major amounts pollutants and when reaching a lake or watercourse it can cause damages on vegetation and animals. Therefore it is important to treat polluted stormwater before it reaches the recipient. The municipality of Örebro have since the 90ies an extensive work with treatment of stormwater in sedimentation ponds. A new stormwater treatment project is planned in an industrial estate in Skebäck, Örebro.

I allt tätare städer blir gröna oaser av ännu större betydelse för både barn och vuxna. Det finns forskning som pekar på vikten av naturmaterial och vegetation på lekplatser. Trots detta har flera lekplatser som uppförts de senaste åren ett ytskikt av gummigranulat. Två anledningar till varför materialet har börjat användas är dess goda egenskaper som fallskydd samt att det är tillgängligt för barn och anhöriga med funktionshinder. Huvudsyftet med uppsatsen är att skapa en diskussion kring lämpligheten av gummigranulat på lekplatser. Eftersom gummigranulat är ett förhållandevis nytt material finns det ännu inte så mycket forskning kring dess användbarhet och framförallt inte kring användningen på lekplatser.

In the Kolmården area, northeast of Norrköping in south-central Sweden, it was discovered that shoots of spruce Picea abies, plants to a seemingly large extent had been browsed by deer. The area inhabits a dense red deer population, alongside with moose and roe deer, and red deer is thus suspected to cause the damage. The main purposes of this study are, however, to estimate the extent of the shoot-damage and to investigate what factors that may affect the browsing of shoots. For each stand information was recorded about the age of the plants, area for the stand, height over the sea for the stand, site productivity, type of plants and stand-history. The study was done in three areas: Simonstorp, Stavsjö and Valinge. At Simonstorp and Stavsjö, respectively, 10 stands were chosen for study and on Valinge six stands. In each stand, 10 plots were sampled.

This study has examined how social media has changed food companies way of holding contests. The study examines how food companies use contests with the help of social media and how they used to do the contests before the use of social media. We have also researched the users behaviours and opinions of companies contests on and outside of social media.In this study we have interviewed four people responsible for contests on the social media department on their respective food company. We also performed a survey that was published on Facebook and followed it up with interviews from two of the participants.This study has showed that contests on social media, as a technical aspect, have given new possibilities for the design of the contests. But there are still some unexplored areas around contests on Facebook and the companies do not know exactly what the users are demanding.

In this thesis an explorative study was undertaken with the aim to study how a number of private care providers, as well as politicians and officials from councils in and around the Stockholm and Uppsala counties, think about the future of the Swedish elderly care from a property perspective, i.e. homes for the elderly. The analysis shows that there is a demand for capacity in 6 out of 16 municipalities, and that the property is an important part of this capacity, and the fulfillment of it. This was mainly due to the cost of capital, but also because of several other factors such as lack of land, a wish to guide the design, ideology, and in many cases a wish to use the property as an instrument of domination to control private health care providers.Also, the property was show to be connected to economic competition, to freedom of choice, and to quality. The problems related to the property in the market for elderly care still remains to be solved.

Urbanisering och förtätning leder till att habitat fragmenteras och att grönytor minskar, vilket gör det svårt att värna om den biologiska mångfalden. Ett exempel på grön infrastruktur är gröna tak som blir ett självklart val för att sammanfoga grönytor i en stad. Förutom flera privat- och samhällsekonomiska vinster, kan gröna tak bidra till att öka den biologiska mångfalden. Vegeterade tak består vanligen av prefabricerade mattor som har ett tunt substratdjup med en vegetation som främst består av Sedum album och mossa. För den biologiska mångfalden har dessa mattor ett lågt värde till skillnad från biodiversitetstak som hyser en mer varierad flora och fauna.

This report describes the development of a RESTful web service for mobile applications. The web service makes resources from an existing system called kompetensdatabasen ("the competence database") available. Kompetensdatabasen holds information about the capabilities of consultants and about assignments carried out at the IT consultant business Nethouse AB.The web service was developed according to the principles of REST and ROA (Resource Oriented Architecture) which puts focus on making resources available. The resources are made available through the HTTP protocol and the methods associated with it. This means it was designed to use the same technologies as the world wide web.

Starting out as a minor form of amusement, the game industry has become one of the most lucrative andsuccessful in the entertainment business competing against giants such as television, movies and music.As the internal competition within the developer community grows companies work hard at discoveringnew ways to attract and keep customers. By having a playcentric approach focusing on user experiencethey hope to achieve that goal. This thesis describes the process of designing a game with focus on theplayer. We apply the concept of flow on game development and investigate through research throughdesign if we are able to create a game that keeps the player in flow.Play tests showed several elements such as control issues and too difficult challenges early in the game,affecting the possibility for players to experience flow while playing. These negative factors came to becalled flowleakers.
