The essay aims to compare Swedish and Finnish decisions regarding refugee policies by tracing them back to the critical junctures when the policies were established, in order to explain why there are big differences prevalent today. The questions asked involve the motivations of the refugee policies and how they have changed over time.The theoretical framework employed is based on historical institutionalism and path dependency. By using a most similar system design and process tracing, material in the form of government declarations and government bills are studied and summed up in two analytical models. The results show that there might be a weak path dependency in the case of Finland. However it is more apparent in the case of Sweden, with frequent statements of a generous refugee policy that is characterised by humanity.

Under flera års tid har den internationella undersökningen PISA visat att finska elever har bäst resultat i naturvetenskap, matematik och läsförståelse. Dessa resultat gjorde att vi begav oss till Finland för att ta reda på vilka faktorer som ligger bakom de finska elevernas goda prestationer i naturvetenskap. Med hjälp av lärarintervjuer, enkätstudier samt observationer ville vi få svar på våra frågor. Studien visar på flera möjliga framgångsfaktorer bl.a. lärarutbildningens utformning, goda resurser samt läroplanens tydliga målformuleringar..

Syftet med min uppsats är att studera attityder till svenska språket i Finland. Jag har intervjuat sju finskspråkiga gymnasieelever i södra Finland. Syftet med intervjuerna är primärt kvalitativt. Jag har velat bilda mig en uppfattning om vilka faktorer som påverkar de intervjuades attityder och även försöka förstå varför man har de attityder man har och vari de bottnar. Jag har även velat se hur ålder vid studiestarten i svenska påverkarattityderna.

Samarbetet inom NORDEFCO har blivit mer fragmenterat vilket innebär att bilaterala överenskommelser är vanliga. När det bilaterala samarbetet med Norge har försvårats av avbrutna materielprojekt så har det uttalats en stark politisk vilja att bilateralt fördjupa samarbetet med Finland. Drivkrafterna för samarbete har historiskt sett främst varit ekonomiska men även för att undvika kritisk massa i den egna organisationen. Uppsatsen undersöker, med hjälp av Tomas Valaseks framgångsfaktorer, förutsättningarna för fördjupat samarbete på strategisk nivå. Framgångsfaktorerna knyts till krigföringsförmåga på taktisk- och funktionsnivå och kan på så sätt undersöka om samarbetet mellan Sverige och Finland kan nyttjas för att undvika kritisk massa inom den belysta fältarbetsfunktionen.

Interviews, following the same interview guide, were made with five companies within the same group.Result:The results from the empirical studies presented in the text below recurring themes derived from the framework.Conclusions:Our conclusions are that the importance of product specific factors is of significant matters in a product abandonment process, even when organizational factors are constant. Background: Traditional oral health education is seldom enough in order for dental care personnel to motivate their patients to good, long-lasting oral health care habits and there is a need for evaluation of other more efficient methods. One of these methods is motivational interviewing. An overview of its origin, definition, theoretical background and practical methods is given by way of introduction. Aim: The aim of the investigation was to review studies that had used motivational interviewing in order to obtain oral health, focusing on prevention and treatment of gingivitis, periodontitis and dental caries. Method: Systematic review. A search question was run through the databases ASSIA, ERIC, PsycINFO, Social Services Abstracts, Sociological Abstracts and PubMed. The articles were reviewed based on defined inclusion and exclusion criteria. Results: Five publications (based on three studies) met the inclusion criteria.

The purpose of this essay has been to answer the question of whether or not administrators of economic support perceive that their professional status is ranked lower than that of their coworkers in other fields of the social services. We set out to study whether or not their comparative status differed depending on their use of standardized assessment instruments and if their experience with regards to professional status differed depending on the size of the municipality they worked in. We also wanted to determine in what way (if any) the comparative status manifests itself and what factors influences it.We?ve utilized method triangulation in order to answer the questions posed in our purpose. The quantitative study was conducted using a questionnaire and the qualitative with three interviews.

För att möta kommande klimatförändringar behövs klimatanpassning vilket innebär att skydda samhället mot klimatförändringarna och ta tillvara eventuella möjligheter. Olika länder har tillämpat olika sätt att styra anpassning, vilka generellt kan delas in i top-down och bottom-up styrning. Dessa styrformer generar olika problem och möjligheter för implementering. Till exempel så brister ofta styrning genom top-down implementeringen på lokal nivå, medan bottom-up ofta försvåras av att lokala aktörer saknar resurser i implementering. I denna litteratur och dokumentsbaserade studie undersöker vi aktuell forskning och policydokument för att med stöd av Environmental Governance-teorin, klargöra styrningsformernas uppbyggnad, effektivitet, problem och möjligheter.

This essay is a survey of thirteen user studies performed in the field of image retrieval. The purpose is to try to distinguish principles that should be kept in mind when wanting to make image databases available for a wide and varied group of users. The essay tries to answer two questions, namely: Are there any results in accordance among the different studies? What in the user studies should be considered when it comes to how content description, interface and functions for searching can be designed when creating systems for image retrieval? Each study is first reviewed on its own, and then a comparative analysis of all the studies is carried out. Derived from the result of this analysis, the conclusion is presented in the form of a row of suggestions to which aspects are to be suitably included in the design of image databases.

The aim of this study is to make a comparative study between the grievances during the Dacke Warand the German Peasant´s War. These two conflicts may have occurred separately, regarding bothgeographical and chronological distances but also share common issues for this comparative study.Less than two decades separates these two conflicts and they were all by their own serious insurrectionsduring their time. While the German Peasant´s War was the greatest uprising in Europe up tothe French Revolution, the Dacke War was the biggest Peasant Rebellion in Scandinavian history.While the German Peasant War has been studied and researched by historians for a relative longtime, the Dacke War has been neglected in research history. If it were not for the Swedish professorLars-Olof Larsson?s studies during foremost in the 1960s, the Dacke War would have been a historicallyuncharted territory of research indeed.

Torneå stad och Haparanda kommun ligger på gränsen mellan Finland och Sverige. Dessa gränsstäder bildar ett öppet gränsområde, där fri övergång är möjligt. Städerna samarbetar ständigt med varandra och ?På gränsen- Rajalla?- projekt avser en av dessa samarbetsformer. Projektets syfte är att i mitt på riskgränsen bygga ett gemensamt stadscentrum.

Ägandestrukturen i Sverige, Norge och Finland skiljer sig avsevärt då apoteket i Sverige har statligt monopol, apoteken i Norge har en avmonopoliserad kedjestruktur och apoteken i Finland är statligt reglerade men privatägda. Dock har samtliga länder en lag på att anpassad rådgivning ska ges till alla kunder. Med anledning av skillnaderna i ägandestrukturerna och utvecklingen inom apoteksväsendet var syftet med denna studie att studera informationsinsatserna kring inhalationsläkemedel innehållande Budesonid på apotek i Sverige, Norge och Finland för att få en samlad bild av hur denna information påverkar kundernas kunskaper, attityder och läkemedelsanvändning. Under våren 2005 gjordes en litteraturstudie i ämnet samt en enkätundersökning vid tre apotek i de tre länderna. 93 personer över 18 år som för eget bruk hämtade ut Budesonidinnehållande inhalationsläkemedel på öppenvårdsapotek deltog i studien.

Every tenth year a financial crisis tend to interfere with an economy. Price bubbles with an accompanying market plunge are therefore not a new phenomenon. Such market disruptions have been causing problems for centuries, as history has a tendency to repeat itself. The intention with this study is to learn more about the bubble phenomenon and increase the knowledge in this area in order to, if possible, prevent such a thing from happening again.
