The subject of this project focuses on how Landscape Architects by their profession can explore and directly make a difference in the cityscape. This paper documents the process of art - based research practice. The purpose of installing temporary activities is to encourage people in the city to discover, participate and invite people to be more playful in the city. My experience of interaction in public spaces comes primarily from the education within landscape architecture, from site-specific art installations I have performed in different cities and from observations of landscape architecture, street art and urban life in the cities of Vienna, Berlin and Linköping. It is fascinating and inspiring to see how the urban space can invite and allow visitors to participate and therefore feel invited to the open space. As a landscape architect I wish to create urban spaces that are useful and inspiring for their visitors. The projects main question: How can you make temporary landscapes that encourage outdoorinspired activities at selected locations in the city? is answered by practice based research, an approach in which theoretical research are developed through practical experiments in the designing- and implementation process.

In this project, an area in the small town Tungelsta south of Stockholm, is in focus. Tungelsta is placed in the municipality of Haninge and it is for the planning department on the municipality, this project is made. The task is to compose an arrengement of buildings and open spaces for a 50 hektar area. Today the area is consists of agriculture fields and forests. The area is placed near the railway station, in the city centre of Tungelsta, which makes it interesting and important to work with. There are different opinions about the future plans for the area.

The city?s public environments are meant to be perceived as safe and inviting areas to visit any time of the day. In recent decades the number of vandalism complaints has doubled and graffiti has become so common that it received a separate category in the crime statistics. With this type of impacts in the public environments the experience are precarious and a boring sight. It?s difficult to put a price tag on these types of crimes, the number of unreported cases suspected to be large.

In the 1940s the Swedish town planning was inspired by the English city development with the concepts of neighbourhood and community planning. In order to promote democratic development and solidarity the ideal would be to create community centers with full service. Community centers are part of the building of the suburbs during the postwar period. The buildings in Sweden from 1940 - and -50s were built with the intentions to be good homes for all regardless of income, class and status. Collective solutions to individual problems were characteristic of the Swedish policy during this time.

Allt fler företag arbetar därför med mänskliga rättigheter, miljöpåverkan och en hållbar ekonomisk utveckling för att behålla sin legitimitet. Sedan Kofi Annan år 1999 initierade Global Compact och vädjade till världens företagsledare att tillsammans hjälpa till och skapa en bättre värld har begreppet Corporate Social Responsibility, CSR, vunnit acceptans. 2002 initierade Göran Persson en nationell motsvarighet, Globalt Ansvar. Trots det saknas en tydlig innebörd av CSR och därför riktas vårt intresse mot organisationer och företag som arbetar med CSR.

I takt med att städer runt om i världen växer ökar fokuseringen på miljöproblemen och därmed höjs kraven på ett välfungerande distributionssystem för olika typer av gods. Ett sätt att försöka lösa denna problematik är att samdistribuera gods, vilket har undersökts i olika internationella och nationella projekt. I det nationella projektet SAMLIC, samordnad varudistribution till Linköpings city, har liknande problematik dryftats men med den skillnaden att fokus ligger på att skapa ett ekonomisk och logistiskt effektivt distributionssystem för alla inblandade parter. Bieffekterna av en sådan fokusering blir särskilt positiva eftersom även bättre miljö och service uppnås.En viktig aspekt då det gäller SAMLIC-projektet är att initiativet till att starta ett projekt inom ramen för samdistribution av varor i Linköpings city ursprungligen kommer från näringslivet. Anledningen till att ett initiativ till ett samdistributionsprojekt togs under år 2000 var att näringslivet insett att mängden leveranser in i och ut ur Linköpings innerstad gav upphov till trängsel och därmed stora trängselkostnader.

Gullmarsplan is a typical 40thcentury area with a functionalist structure.Johanneshov is with Gullmarsplan,the Globe an the Slaughterhousearea, an important node for the southernsuburbs as a place for communication,sports, entertainment and shopping.Today Nynäsvägen divides the area intoa western and an eastern part.

The Swedish coastal defence took on a whole new meaning after the introduction of the coastal artillery in 1902. The establishment of the coastal artillery meant that the Swedish military had access to a whole new military branch, in addition to the Army and the Navy. Under the direction of one general, two regiments were established. One in Vaxholm and the second in the naval city of Karlskrona. The aim of this essay is to investigate how the Costal Artillery were established, by analyzing the parliamentary of the year 1901.

To have a forest area close to the city is of great importance for the city population?s well being. Children develop their motor skills, concentration and imagina-tion and the adults have a place to shake of the stress from work. Forest areas are used to exercise at, play in and to find a moment of peace and silence. The urban forest and the old farming pastures at Markussonvallen and Per-Isakssonvallen already has natural assets worth to preserve and a great potential to create more. The goal is to develop a forest with a variation of tree species and ground vegetation that will appeal to the human senses and different animal species such as birds, insects etc.

It today's global world we live in the media have started to examine businesses more and more. In addition consumers are expecting more from products, because they are well informed. This means that companies need to market themselves effectively, to convince and get across their message to their customers. Marketing is an extensive process in which different factors must be taken into account. A company must know what the coustomer needs in order to get through to them.

Arbetet är en teoristyrd fallstudie på Amiralen och Slottsbackens handelsområden, med syfte att undersöka möjligheten att skapa en trevligare visuell externhandelsmiljö med hjälp av förtätning och funktionsintegrering. För att göra detta jämför och förenas handelsperspektiv på platsen med kända stadsbyggnadsbegrepp. Arbetes teori grundar sig på Jane Jacobs syn på staden som centrum för mångfald, Joel Garreaus teoretiserande av externhandelscentrumen utifrån begreppet Edge Cities, samt en syn på den täta staden som en hållbar stad. För att skapa den mångfaldiga staden krävs en inplantering av olika funktioner med olika tidsscheman, så att gaturummet ständigt befolkas av en varierande sammansättning människor. Vid sidan av detta förespråkas små kvarter, en tät stad med hög koncentration av människor och en bebyggelse med blandad bebyggelse från olika tidsåldrar.

Cultural heritages are environments created by humans that are considered to have a conservation value for the posterity. They can be seen as one of society's non renewable resources. It is important to have knowledge of how cultural heritages are affected by future climate changes.The water flow in Uppsala is estimated to increase during winter and decrease during spring and summer. Precipitation will gradually increase as well as the intense short period precipitation. The average temperature is estimated to increase as well.

Örnsköldsviks kommun påbörjade 2005 ett projekt som kallas Världsklass 2015 bland annat med anledning att få bukt med nedåtgående befolkningssiffror. För att nå den vision som projektet eftersträvar ligger en viktig del i att stärka stadens varumärke. I problembakgrunden har vi sett att det finns mycket kvar att upptäcka inom det teoretiska området city branding. Många städer förstår inte fullt ut hur de ska utveckla och kontrollera sina varumärken. Det har visats att konventionella teorier från corporate branding området även går att använda för att analysera en stads varumärke.

Utbyggnaden av externhandeln under de senaste decennierna har medfört en ökad konkurrens för cityhandeln i Sverige. De olika marknadsplatserna präglas av en allt större likriktning av butiksutbudet, framför allt när det gäller andelen kedjebutiker. Detta gäller främst externhandelns köpcentrum, men är även ett fenomen i stadskärnornas gallerior. Cityhandeln bör differentiera sin produkt gentemot externhandeln för att locka kunderna till city. Detta kan ske genom att exempelvis erbjuda en bred butiksmix.
