BACKGROUND: Today?s societal changes, including high rate of change and increasing information flows, are increasing the demand on the individual mental capacity. It becomes increasingly difficult to analytically process all the different dilemmas and everyday decisions as individuals have a limited mental capacity available to make these decisions. Thus, it has been suggested that ego-depleted relies more heavily on intuition, which is less burdensome, when making decision. However little is known about to what extent intuitive decisions differ from analytic.

This is a project showing a proposal on how a high-rise building gains qualities similar to middle rise houses of 7-9 stories. The closed, isolated and often anonymous life in the high building opens up through gardens. A plant's defensive ability against herbivore attack can be influenced by many different factors, one of them being domestication. During human selection to improve the yield of plants, the resistance against herbivore attack can have been lowered, due to a trade-off for use of resources between these traits in the plants. In this thesis I investigated the effect of domestication on resistance against herbivorous insects in cotton plants. I used different varieties and species of wild and domesticated cotton in three different experiments. A feeding assay was conducted, the mortality, development time and pupal weight of larvae of the Egyptian cotton leaf worm Spodoptera littoralis was studied. Under min tid som lärare har jag vid flera tillfällen noterat att de mål man som pedagog ställt upp avseende laborationerna ofta uteblir, eller åtminstone inte uppfylls helt och hållet. Syfte ? Studiens syfte är att undersöka hybridapplikationers prestanda i olika situationer för att ta reda på varför de upplevs som långsamma. För att uppnå syftet besvaras följande frågeställningar:Hur presterar hybridapplikationer jämfört med nativapplikationer beräkningsmässigtÄr JavaScript-biblioteken anledningen till hybridapplikationers sämre prestanda, och vilket av de bibliotek som undersöks är det mest lämpade för bästa prestanda?Kan hybridapplikationer hantera stora datamängder med IndexedDB utan att bli oresponsiva?Metod ? Studien använder sig av en experimentell forskningsmetod där hypoteser och förutsägelser formuleras och sedan testas för att besvara frågeställningarna.Resultat ? Resultatet från studien visar att prestandan för mobila hybrid-applikationer är i de flesta fall, vid utförande av samma uppgift, underlägsen den för dess motsvarande nativapplikationer. Resultaten visar även att prestandan påverkas av vilket JavaScript-bibliotek som används men att biblioteken inte är anledningen till hybridapplikationers långsamma prestanda.

Still, this well known way of process information is not often seen in the in-store environment of grocery retailing. Here, interactive media is an unestablished field where empirical studies are invisible within the academic world. The lack of knowledge in which effect interactive digital signage has is one of the barriers of investing in this marketing solution in-store. The main purpose of this study is to examine and describe the effects of interactive digital signage at shelf within grocery retailing.

To establish good horse welfare there are several factors that need to be considered. One important factor is the environment in which the horses are kept. In Sweden horses are stabled during long periods of time in the cold season and consequently the stable environment is even more important. The most essential environmental factors in a horse stable are ambient temperature, relative humidity (RH) and concentrations of contaminants in the stable air. Det har funnits problem med utmattningssprickor hos bränsletankarna på stridsfordon 90 och de beräkningar som gjorts har inte kunnat förutspå skadorna som uppkommit. Därför hade ett intresse uppkommit för att se hur vätskan påverkar strukturen vid vibrationer. Detta examensarbete har genom experiment försökt skapa en idé om hur strukturen hos en behållare påverkas vid vibrationer när vätska fylls på inuti behållaren. För att få klarhet i detta designades först ett testobjekt i I-deas för att få fram ett antal önskade modformer. Efter tillverkning utfördes prov i provavdelningens vibrationsbänk med olika vätskenivåer.

Examensarbetet behandlar ämnet zinkutsläpp från biltvättar där arbetet inkluderar redogörelseför problematiken med zink i naturen samt en utarbetning av en praktiskt och ekonomisktgenomförbar metod att reducera zinkhalten i avloppsvattnet från biltvättarnas biologiskareningsverk Alaska Bio genom undersökningar och experiment med olika metoder.Litteraturstudier har gjorts för att ta reda på hur zinken rör sig och interagerar med dess miljöför att dra en slutsats om hur viktigt det är att prioritera åtgärder för problemet. Djupare arbete has gjorts med att beskriva denbiologiska vattenreningsanläggningen Alaska Bio och dess kemikalieanvändning.Experimentella försök har gjorts för att bestämma hur utfällningen av zink förändras medvarierande pH i tvättvattnet och slutsatsen drogs att halterna zink i jonform, som därmed ärlöst, är minimala i pH-området 8,6-9,2 och maximala vid låga pH-värden. Redan vid pH 6 varbefann sig större delen av zinken i jonform.

This paper is a literature study aiming to describe scientists newest theories andknowledge concerning the El Niño and Southern Oscillation. Firstly I have described the?normal? conditions with rising and sinking air in Hadley- and Walker-cells in theequatorial Pacific and from there moved on to explaining the reversed circulation patternsand higher sea surface temperatures (SST) leading to rising air and anomalousprecipitation in eastern Pacific constituting the El Niño phenomenon. My outermostinterest regarding El Niño has been the associated teleconnections, especially in nontropicalareas. I have described the El Niño effect on the Indian summer monsoon, ontropical cyclones and on storms and precipitation on higher latitudes.

The milk production has developed rapidly the last years. The milk production per cow is increasing and the production units are larger with an increasing number of animals and a decreasing number of workers. Many milk producers invest in automatic milking systems (AM) to meet this change. In these systems the cows can voluntary decide milking frequency and usually the milking frequency are higher than two times per day. But how does the milking frequency effect the composition of the milk? The aim of the present study was to study the effect of milking frequency on the milk composition and the milk fat quality.

Eleverna ska introduceras i ett naturvetenskapligt arbetssätt som delvis består av undersökningar under laborativa former.Laborationer tar ofta en stor del av fysikundervisningen i anspråk. Inte sällan byggs undervisningen upp kring laborationerna. Den sociokulturella och konstruktivistiska teoribeskrivningen framhåller att lärande sker under processer då individen är aktiv. Fysikundervisningen bör alltså ha goda förutsättningar för elevernas lärande.
