Debate over Intellectual Property Rights ?IPRs? particularly patent and copyrights is mainly on forward-looking industries in computer software. As part of a trade deal reached in 1994, the member nations of the World Trade Organisation must adhere to a global agreement known as TRIPS, for the Trade- Related Aspect of Intellectual Property Rights.This study is to analyse the ethical conception of Intellectual Property Rights and in particular its implications on the developing countries in relation to TRIPS. The approach will be to analyse a broad philosophical theories of property to see if there is any justification for a software program to be treated as private property and also argue base on John Rawls two principles of justice in relation to TRIPS Agreement. Some reflections will be put on the use of open-source software by less developing countries.From the study it was asserted that, strong IPRs protection would hinder technological transfer and indigenous learning activities in the early stage of industrialisation when learning takes place through reverse engineering.

The research objective of this thesis was to conduct a holistic evaluation of an operational information system. By holistic evaluation we mean that an equal focus was placed on both the system system perspective and its users user perspective, in the actual environment where the system and its users function contextuality. In addition, the methodological objective of the study was to test a new research approach in a real life setting. The participants of the study were twenty newspaper journalists employed at Göteborgs-Posten GP. The information system NewsLink is a manually indexed full-text database containing all articles published in GP since 1994.

This Master thesis focuses on change conditions and change ambitions in Swedish public libraries. I have chosen to focus on three libraries that participated in a much-debated developmental project sponsored by the Swedish Arts Council almost twenty years ago. The aim of the project was to enhance service-quality, increase user-influence over media acquisition and library routines, and to redefine the concept of quality in the library context. I have made comparisons of the conditions and change ambitions between the project period 1991-1994 and present day 2009. To do this I have analyzed the evaluations of the above-mentioned project and the developmental plans that every municipality in Sweden is required to write according the library-law of 2004.

Sedan lagen om producentansvar gällade förpackningar infördes 1994 har hushållens arbete med avfallshantering ökat markant, i och med att det förväntas att dessa ska källsortera. Studien bygger på en enkätundersökning som gjordes hos 200 hushåll i Piteå kommun. Syftet med denna studie har varit att undersöka hur stor betalningsvilja villahushållen har, för att inte behöva frakta avfallet till återvinningstationen. Det främsta syftet var att analysera vilka faktorer som främst kan förklara skillnaderna i betalningsvilja mellan hushållen. Studien koncentrerar sig i första hand på de avfall som innefattas av producentansvaret.

In the late 20th century the Soviet Union collapsed and the eastern European countries were freed from the communist Russian oppression. However, during the Soviet period Marxism was a recurring life stance in the Swedish textbooks for religious education in the gymnasieskola. Today the Soviet Union has collapsed, but the Marxist philosophy has had a huge effect on both single individuals and the modern society as a whole. Nonetheless, the Marxist life stance is nowadays often being replaced by other non- religious life stances in the textbooks of religious education.Therefore, this analysis is a hermeneutic study of the presentation of the Marxist life stance in textbooks for Swedish religious education. The purpose of the paper is to investigate how these textbooks portray the Marxist life stance, and to prove that the societal context and the individual author have an immense effect in the portrayal of both religions and life stances in religious education.

The transformation of the Swedish Armed Forces is bringing about major changes in many areas. Indirect fire is one capability affected by these changes. Financial savings, a shrinking organization and higher eligibility requirements mean that fewer soldiers will gain access to exclusive high-tech support resources such as the JAS 39 Gripen aircraft and the ARCHER artillery system. This thesis aims to examine whether access to indirect fire capability can be increased through the use of civilian products and communication networks. Technology development in the civilian mobile communications area is exponential and nations such as the USA, facing challenges similar to those of the Swedish Armed Forces, devote substantial resources to research and development.

Democracy has been a part of the Swedish society for a long period of time and it is also a part of the Swedish elementary school curriculum, in which you can find a number of statements that expresses that the Swedish elementary school should socialize the children into becoming role model citizens. This also conjures with the available research that describes schools in general as socializing. This led me to a question that hasn?t been answered: How much of the curriculums reasons for socialization the pupils are based on democratic values and how much of it can be dated back to events prior to the curriculum?The methodological approach is an analysis of ideologies as described by Sven-Eric Liedman and Ingemar Nilsson in Ideologi och ideologianalys. The text is focusing on the fact that a text has two layers; one is the manifest which is roughly the same as explicit or present in the text.

Vad innebär det att tillhöra en subkultur och har det någon påverkan på ungdomars attityder idag? Är det lika utpräglat som under 70-talet när punken var som störst och man visade sin tillhörighet genom klädsel och en viss musiksmak? Eller har mainstreamkulturen tagit över genom olika medier som TV, film och internet? Studiens syfte är att undersöka om attityd till skolan kan härledas till subkultur. Frågeställningen är följande: Går det att härleda elevers attityd till skolan till deras subkultur? I hur stor utsträckning förekommer subkulturer idag? Finns det ett samband mellan subkultur och geografiskt/sociokulturellt område? Som metod valde vi att göra en enkätundersökning genom ett bekvämlighetsurval. Studien omfattade ungdomar som gick sitt första år på gymnasiet. 171 ungdomar besvarade enkäten i fyra skilda områden i stockholmsregionen. Vi analyserade materialet med hjälp av regressionsanalys och frekvenstabeller.

Arbetet handlar om elevers sätt att reflektera över läsning, det vill säga göra inferenser eller ?läsa mellan raderna?. Syftet med arbetet var att undersöka elevernas förmåga att reflektera och dra egna slutsatser kring texten. Läroplanen för det obligatoriska skolväsendet (1994) menar att: ?Skolan skall sträva efter att varje elev lär sig använda sina kunskaper och redskap för att formulera och pröva antaganden och lösa problem, reflektera över erfarenheter och kritiskt granska och värdera påståenden och förhållanden? (s.9).

Vattenfall AB is a large producer of electric energy where approximately half of the energy comes from hydropower. Vattenfall Hydropower has got almost a 100-year old history and the company has developed a lot since 1909. After that the number of power plants increased and the competition got more intense, there were higher demands on the reliability. One way to secure the reliability with a good satisfaction at the power plants is to implement a maintenance method named Reliability-Centred Maintenance. RCM is a result of the introduction of the complex aeroplane Boeing 747 in the 1960?s.

Syftet med denna studie är att studera och analysera gymnasieelevers uppfattningar av vad rättvisa innebär i bedömnings- och betygssammanhang i det mål- och kunskapsrelaterade betygssystemet. Metoden vi använder oss av är den halvstrukturerade intervjun med en kombination av öppna och slutna frågor till de fjorton informanterna. Intervjuerna spelades in på en diktafon för att sedan transkriberas och utgöra materialet i vår undersökning. Eleverna som medverkar i vår studie kommer från en och samma skola och könsfördelningen är hälften pojkar och hälften flickor. Det mål- och kunskapsrelaterade betygssystemet infördes i gymnasieskolan 1994 vilket innebär en jämförelse av elevens framvisade kunskaper och färdigheter med på förhand givna betygskriterier.

Den teoretiska utgångspunkten är utformad genom tidigare forskning på området, där särskilt Lipsky (1980), Korsell (2003) och Sahlin (1994) ansetts tillämpbara. I denna utgångspunkt är stereotypföreställningar av relevans och ärenden kan delas in i kategorier. Klientelet simplifieras därmed och görs till en del av föreställningar om en viss stereotyp, vilket sedan kan påverka utfallet, alltså om ärendet vidarebehandlas eller ej. Detta medför ett rutinbaserat arbete där effektivitet lättare kan uppnås.Studiens resultat stämde väl överens med den tidigare forskningen och därmed utgångspunkten, och indikerar att selektionen ibland sker genom en indelning av lätta och svåra ärenden. De lätta selekteras fram för att påvisa åstadkommet resultat.

En individ med funktionsnedsättning ställs varje dag inför en rad olika svårigheter i vårt samhälle och de är ständigt i behov av att samhället finns till hjälps för dem. Varje individ är olika och behöver därför olika hjälp för att klara sin vardag.Sedan 1994 finns lagstiftningen Lagen om stöd och service till vissa funktionshindrade. Denna lag ska se till så att individer med vissa funktionsnedsättningar får rätt insatser så att de kan ha goda levnadsvillkor. De personer som ansvara för denna lag är LSS handläggare. Deras arbete är mycket betydelsefullt för individerna som är i behov av denna lag.

The Iranian artist Shirin Neshat has been living in self-imposed exile since the late 1970s, as she chose not to return to her home country following the ?79 Islamic Revolution. Through her works Neshat examines Iran before and after the revolution and follows political and civil transformations through strong photographs of women in her country of birth.  My own use of the term exile deals with the analysis of the state of exile in relation to artistic work as a globalized and underlying motivation for art and artists. The new definition of exile is analyzed in relation with the artist?s photographs and the verbal and visual statements.

CEEQUAL är ett brittiskt hållbarhetsklassningssystem utvecklat för anläggningsbranschen. CEEQUAL bedömer och ger utmärkelser till infrastruktur- och anläggningsprojekt som hanterat miljö- och hållbarhetsfrågor över lagstadgade krav.Denna rapport undersöker och jämför arbetsgången enligt CEEQUALs manual och arbetsgången enligt Trafikverkets planeringsprocess. Vidare redovisas resultaten från en workshop samt intervjuer med anställda på NCC, Ramböll, Skanska, Trafikverket och WSP.Huvudsyftet med studien är att utvärdera CEEQUALs lämplighet som verktyg för Trafikverkets miljö- och hållbarhetsarbete.Resultatet från intervjuer, workshop och litteraturstudier har analyserats och rationaliserats ur Trafikverkets perspektiv.Slutsatser som dras i rapporten är bland annat:CEEQUAL behöver hårdare krav samt en anpassning till den svenska marknaden för att bli ett effektivt verktyg att använda i Sverige.Trafikverket rekommenderas avvakta vidare CEEQUALmärkning till dess ovannämnda anpassning genomförts.Trafikverket rekommenderas vidare att försöka satsa på Whole Team Award vid ombyggnationen av Trafikplats Roslags-Näsby. Detta för att sedan göra en utförlig jämförelse med Trafikplats Viggbyholm, en trafikplats längs samma vägsträcka som även den genomgår en ombyggnation, dock utan CEEQUALmärkning.Den i skrivande stund rimligaste förhållningen till CEEQUAL för Trafikverket är att arbeta med de delar CEEQUAL tar upp som Sverige får som sämst betyg i och försöka integrera dessa i Trafikverkets egna miljö- och hållbarhetsarbete..
